I feel you Nate. Cold Steel is a truly indispensable brand. My heart broke the day Lynn posted the video informing everyone that he had sold. Some folks like to talk smack about him, but I am eternally grateful to the man for creating such an amazing brand with so many knives that bring me joy. I pray that he stays involved, if only behind the scenes, and that Cold Steel stays consistent and continues to do it right, because I couldn't live without CS knives.
That lineup instills continued confidence in the CS products, even under the new management. I'll try a couple of the new models myself, even though I own about 2/3 of the Cold Steel & Special Projects products already!!!
I'm digging the more budget friendly versions of tried and true models. I wasn't able to afford the 3V version, but these 4116 versions will be great !!
the problem is that it's basically like having a cheap kitchen knife which is not so cheap. they should at list give us some good tempered 14c28n or 12c27 for the price.
8:35 Side note on the Mayhem, I much prefer the Thumb Plate opener, even on large knives. Thumbstuds are "logical" in having the best leverage on blade opening but even on the biggest blades being able to pocket snag the blade to open is a really neat ability. Technically you can have both Studs and the Thumb Plate and then people have the best of everything (and I can always unscrew the studs).
Thumb plate works better than most people seem to think. I back pocket carry a Spartan and it deploys every time. Wish they offered it on recon 1s, to tell ya the truth.

I'm sure many would agree: Would love to see most of their folders get a DEEP CARRY pocket clip. Kind of like FOUR SEVENS (and now Prometheus) flashlights have done with their Quark light: the product comes with a regular pocket clip (with 1/2"-1" of the item rising above the pocket ridge) for easy access -- but for additional cost ($5-7) you can get a deep carry clip (where the knife pommel is completely flush with pocket ridge).
P.S. Want -- no, NEED -- a full-size LAREDO FOLDER with a full size 10.5" blade. Makes the Espada XL look like a box-cutter. (Pre-orders come with a FREE PIG for at home testing. And subsequent BBQ.)
I remember coming across Cold Steel in the late 80"s and since then they went a long way, this new lineup is very tempting.I am just wondering, when will these be available in Europe ?
I talked some trash about GSM, but I'm here to tell you they eventually just sent me a 4-Max Elite to replace the 4-Max that was lost during the buyout. It took awhile, but they made it right. The Atlas Lock looks incredibly sick and they aint scared to use it on a big boy. Nice. I will have one.
I was still concerned about Cold Steel's direction after they were bought and a few of the new online offers looked pretty chincy, however. This video has shown their intention to keep up with and continue producing the big bad working and combat style folders and fixed blades that has made Cold Steel one of the best knife manufacturers in the world. I hope they keep it up as I will continue to grow my sizeable Cold Steel collection. Definately grabbing a warcraft Tanto 12 and the AD 10 Lite
I would like more 4 inch and above folders, stonewash finishes, and Aus-10 on all these blades as that is some beautiful and functional Cold Steel classic materials and styling
I was wondering how Cold Steel was going to proceed with the changes, and now l know...quality and a number of interesting new ideas. I guess l'm saving my money for a new Cold Steel for my pocket.
This is the most exciting knife lineup that I have seen in a while! I was hoping they would make a more affordable AD 10. That new lock looks promising, and that prototype! wow!
The last trio should be offered as a dual combo, the little one in a piggyback on the sheat of the bigger one, then always send them with a detachable fire steel, and a notch on the back for the fire steel, at least for the outdoor oriented knives, could be a part of the jimping.
Cold steel there is some good stuff here but i think i can speak for 95 oercent of the knife community in saying we will NEVER buy a 4034 blade. Awsome fixed blades but the steels are wrong. why not aus 10....i jist dont get it
4116 stainless is really a disappointing choice. Gone are the days of CTS BD1 being the budget choice for CS. At least give us AUS10A for the low end models. 😔
San mai is awsome, but the steels they use is odd. I want to see a big warcraft With San mai 3, d2 outer layers, and Cpm3v on the cutting edge. Or lion steel. That would be cool.
Gotta admit, didn't really like DCA that much at first, I mean, not that I disliked him either, but, he has surely and ever increasingly earned my appreciation as a knife presenter. He speaks confidently, clearly and accurately, with energy. He seems to always enjoy presenting and you can see that energy whenever he's on, and he does all that while being professional and composed. Even in this video, he has more info on the new knives and is presenting them better than the official CS representative. Dear DCA, you rock man!
Mayhem and that new lock are exciting. And great move with the Warcraft those old handles were not awesome. A suggestion for a further mod would be to increase the size of the scale fasteners (if not already done so) and perhaps give them a third scale fastener so if one fails you always have two in place to maintain function. Then it would feel truely bomb proof.
You should be able to contact GSM outdoors and get another one. I'm left-handed, so I might have one or two right-handed recon clips lying around if you want. I definitely have a right-handed clip for the Code 4, which is the same as the recon clip, its just polished steel instead of black colored.
Deer cold steel, I love my CS AD10 and will be buying the tanto version. But it would be nice if you would provide a deep carry pocket clip option for the series versus the clip it comes with. That clip is the only complaint anyone I know has with the knife and it has kept a few folks from buying one. I had to spend money to buy an aftermarket clip off Etsy so I could stop tearing up my jean pockets. The deep carry clip you released on the new Drifter would be perfect!
And I was worried when cold steel got sold. Not sure what the hell I was so worried about looks like cold steel is in good hands. Can’t wait to get some of these
Idk if I’m sold on this new cold steel stuff. I really need to see the atlas lock tested. Not a big fan of these new angular features on the handles. I’m seeing it veer farther and farther from classic cold steel and I’m getting worried they might be changing cold steel for the worst but we’ll see it’s still early on
Really interested in the verdict. How is the handle? Is it a full grip? I wear a large/extra large glove and really like having a full grip for hard use knives.
I always love seeing new stuff from CS and there’s some intriguing designs there! Also I have to say that Beam has really started to grow on me, he not as serious or intense as Lynn but still has that great dark sense of humor.
Oh dude I can't wait for that Mayhem!!! It looks like a throwback to CS's older, bigger stuff they did over the last two decades but it's got that new lock on it!
I'm very glad I clicked on this video. I lost a lot of hope when Lynn sold the company to some nobody conglomerate because of the potential drop-off in quality. But it looks as if they are slightly reimagining some of these designs, and I like it. The Warcraft tantos, for instance, were long over-due for a handle change.
I would love to see an XL Black Talon 2 in DLC, please! Serrated Spartan, and Kris Ti-Lite really made me happy to see Cold Steel sticking to the formula. The new lock is very intriguing, and the Mayhem... Hell YES.
I've been looking forward to seeing the new Cold Steels and they are as badass as expected. DCA is great as always! Gonna be adding a couple more Cold Steels especially the Mayhemto my collection this year.
I have, like many of collectors/users I assume, hundreds of knives both fixie and foldie. I seem to always put my cold steel to the side when it comes to city use. However... everytime I go hiking/hunting out comes the AD10 or Ultimate Hunter. I wish there was a milled out version of the AD10 that still had the rounded handles. Until then, if I am ultralight hiking then the Ultimate Hunter in CTS XHP is my go to. I have even batoned kindling with it to no ill affect on blade play which I am pretty impressed with .i just wish it had a choil like AD10. Speed of deployment and ambidextrous deployment is generally not their strong suit, but functionality and extreme durability/lockup definitely is and thats what I need outdoors where the knife tends to get treated pretty damn roughly.

I was worried when the initial lineup was released, not gonna lie. It seemed like CS was getting watered down by their new management. But, then I saw them up close and THEN he flicked out that Mayhem knife and well…my worries are dying down lol. Glad to see some classic CS flair in the new design. As a long time CS customer I am definitely excited for the possibilities with this new lock system AND that Mayhem knife. I will definitely be picking one up.
Finally scored a cs ad15 as my first cs and I absolutely think they are amazing quality and I jave knives twice as much. Thanks for another great review on the new products.
I really like this guy a lot. Welcome to the knife world Stick Man! I would love to see Josh- Jimislash representing Cold Steel as well, but this guy did a great job. I really enjoyed the way he expressed his impression of the Razortech. Its a bad knife, even with the lower end steel. hopefully it will be priced the way Cold Steel has priced budget fixed blades in the past. I like the smallest one a lot. Can't wait for the Verdict in G10/AUS10, and the Drifter in S35VN (my favorite steel), and of course I am excited for the Mayhem. Its a really sweet addition to the over the top monster category that Cold Steel owns.
Very cool lineup. I plan on getting at least a few of them. I’d like to have a couple of each one! Cold Steel has been a winner for a long time and it looks like they are still winning!
My only question with that lock is if you are drawing back on meat or it gets stuck in an object and you tighten your grip to pull it back will that activate the lock to release?
The Mayhem looks like a lot of fun. It's It's first monster folder to give me that "gotta have it" feeling in a while. Hope we see it hit shelves soon.
Excited to see the 4034 Laredo in this video, as I'd placed a pre-order several days ago. Cannot wait for that critter to arrive at my door. Cold Steel sets the standard for elegant, stout knives that look totally wicked. Solid.
The knife community was asleep on CS while they were using xhp. No one else came close in price for a blade in that level of steel. I was lucky enough to grab a few while they were available.
I really like the blade on that Laredo bowie but dang I hate the handles on them. A crown stag, antler or even just a real basic wood scales alongside the full tang would look amazing. I hate that everyone has to use a hidden tang on their Bowie. We have enough of those, bring us a full tang with something affordable but cool scales on the sides. My dream Bowie would be a very similar blade, a very similar stainless or nickel handguard but with a full tang and crown stag scales on each side. You still get the flared end from crown stag but with a full visible tang too.
I have to say I was a bit worried about Cold Steel under new management, but this relieved a lot of my concerns. New models seem to retain high quality, durability and design language that Cold Steel is known for, well done!
@@knifecenter This gift is a work knife. He’s been breaking his work knives over the years and hasn’t found an inexpensive option he likes. So this one seemed to check boxes that actually might last him and he can replace cheaply if need be. As well this is part of his gifts. Gifting a man like this who buys what he wants is hard to do. Say a decent EDC knife. If you don’t get the right one or it’s to nice he won’t carry it. Very humble and amazing man. Grew up dirt poor to work his butt off into a very comfortable life.
Pretty sure the atlas lock is a modified version of the shark lock, is this not common knowledge? The mechanics and locking interface appear to be identical just modified to tuck the slide into the handle vs sticking out
I've been waiting for this one! I really want a Recon Scout or Trailmaster in 3V. Super excited to see how the new Atlas lock performs. If it's as strong as the Tri Ad lock with the fidget factor?!?

Excited about the Atlas lock. I've always wanted a Demko shark lock, but what's available outside the customs isn't that appealing.

Aus 10 would be better for that, great steel with Cold Steel's heat treat, along with a Stonewash finish

I really enjoyed the way he expressed his impression of the Razortech. Its a bad knife, even with the lower end steel. hopefully it will be priced the way Cold Steel has priced budget fixed blades in the past. I like the smallest one a lot. Can't wait for the Verdict in G10/AUS10, and the Drifter in S35VN (my favorite steel), and of course I am excited for the Mayhem. Its a really sweet addition to the over the top monster category that Cold Steel owns.
Very cool lineup. I plan on getting at least a few of them. I’d like to have a couple of each one! Cold Steel has been a winner for a long time and it looks like they are still winning!

My only question with that lock is if you are drawing back on meat or it gets stuck in an object and you tighten your grip to pull it back will that activate the lock to release?

Excited to see the 4034 Laredo in this video, as I'd placed a pre-order several days ago. Cannot wait for that critter to arrive at my door. Cold Steel sets the standard for elegant, stout knives that look totally wicked. Solid.

The knife community was asleep on CS while they were using xhp. No one else came close in price for a blade in that level of steel. I was lucky enough to grab a few while they were available.

I really like the blade on that Laredo bowie but dang I hate the handles on them. A crown stag, antler or even just a real basic wood scales alongside the full tang would look amazing. I hate that everyone has to use a hidden tang on their Bowie. We have enough of those, bring us a full tang with something affordable but cool scales on the sides. My dream Bowie would be a very similar blade, a very similar stainless or nickel handguard but with a full tang and crown stag scales on each side. You still get the flared end from crown stag but with a full visible tang too.

I have to say I was a bit worried about Cold Steel under new management, but this relieved a lot of my concerns. New models seem to retain high quality, durability and design language that Cold Steel is known for, well done!
Got my eye on the Atlas lock line up for the right one. The big dude really got my attention. Look great with my Ritual.
Tuff Lite hits the specs for sure, but I didn't think it felt "nice" enough to be a dad's day gift. YMMV -DCA
@@knifecenter This gift is a work knife. He’s been breaking his work knives over the years and hasn’t found an inexpensive option he likes. So this one seemed to check boxes that actually might last him and he can replace cheaply if need be.
As well this is part of his gifts. Gifting a man like this who buys what he wants is hard to do. Say a decent EDC knife. If you don’t get the right one or it’s to nice he won’t carry it. Very humble and amazing man. Grew up dirt poor to work his butt off into a very comfortable life.

Pretty sure the atlas lock is a modified version of the shark lock, is this not common knowledge? The mechanics and locking interface appear to be identical just modified to tuck the slide into the handle vs sticking out
