On top of the world! Black 5 Eric Treacy Hammers up to Darnholme Bridge, 22nd Sept NYMR Gala.

From a lofty position on Hawthorn Hill , we see Stanier Black 5 Eric Treacy hammer past Water Ark bridge 2 and on up the 1 in 49 gradient under the over bridge at Darnholme. As usual, the staccato 2 cylinder exhaust beat is stunning as it echoes from the woods and cuttings. This loco will always be my favourite Black 5 as it was named " E T " on a Friday in May 69 at a Tyesley Gala, which I attended on the Sunday - having travelled from Leicester behind 4472 . So as an impressionable 15 year old, this is the one I always want to see hard at work!
