SPIRIT OF THE ANZACS LYRICS:
He's a drover drifting over Western plains
He's a city lad, a clark down Flinder's Lane
They're in the trenches at Lone Pine
And on the Flander's firing line
A willing band of ordinary menHe's all of them
He's one of us
Born beneath
The Southern Cross
Side by side
We say with pride
He is all of them
He is one of us
He's a pilot on a midnight bombing raid
He's an Able Seaman on the Armidale
She's a nurse in Vietnam
They're on patrol in Uruzgan
Sons and daughters rising to the call
She's all of them
She's one of us
Born beneath
The Southern Cross
Side by side
We say with pride
She is all of them
She is one of us
The spirit of the ANZACs
Proud and strong
Spirit of the ANZACs
Will live on and on and on
He's all of them
He's one of us
Born beneath
The Southern Cross
Side by side
We say with pride
He is all of them
She is all of them
They are one of usThey are one of us

our flag doesn't fly from the wind moving it. it flies from the last breath of every soldier that died defening it
Beautiful sentiment ty Brett
Amazing sementre
Awesome statment
😢😭🙏👏👏👏
Yamz_MG women still put their life on the line for their country, they saved countless lives and kept the war from ending up with more casualties, and saying they aren’t apart of ANZAC, is like NZ isn’t apart of ANZAC, which probably makes no sense, but it is all I could think of at the time.
And, in say this, I’m not saying your disrespecting them, for you did say ‘they still deserve respect no doubt’, but female deaths were relatively quiet high during WW1/2 and Vietnam war, not just from the French resistance and those being executed, from the Germans, Japanese, Italians and the Vietnamese all attacked/bombed field hospitals killing medical staff or wounded. But if you do not agree with what I say that’s your opinion, have a nice day. (And try not to freeze to death)
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. We will remember them, Lest we forget🌹
Beautiful 🙌🙏🏼

Thank yoh for keepin’ our nation free and safe! THANKS SO MUCH!
I am a American and I deeply love Australia and the Anzac's those guys were tough and were bad asses so from a American keep being awesome Australia
thx M8
Thanks
That is so nice with you being from a different country and saying that we are a good country so thank you
The ANZAC's were from Australia and New Zealand
Thanks I'm an Aussie but the New Zealanders also deserve a lot of credit because they fought just as hard
It means a lot that you posted something like this since your from another country so I thank you
Makes me so proud to call myself an Aussie👍🤗🇦🇺
I'm a born and bred American, with dear friends in both Australia and New Zealand, and this song twangs my heartstrings. My American family had soldiers serve in both World Wars and Vietnam (and likely the Revolutionary War and Korea). As a Vietnam veteran friend so succinctly said, "For those who fought for it, Freedom has a Flavor that the Protected will never know." God bless each and every soldier, sailor, nurse, etc., that went to war and didn't come home, or came home forever changed.
And for those who have lost it, freedom has a flavour the Protected can never appreciate.
Nice words thanku, I'm Aussie and I love your red white and blue song. Similar celebration song.
I went to the Australian War Memorial in April this year, we couldn't find my ancestor who had died in WWII so I put my poppy I had in another soldier's place as I do not know whether that soldier has any family still living in Australia or at all. But going through that war memorial was a memorable time and I'll never ever forget it. My family also got to see the changing of the guard (in the rain) but coming out of the tomb of the unknown soldier my mother noticed that one of the two guards were crying, most likely because he thought of it as sad that this soldier's identity is still unknown to this day. But to every soldier in the army, air force and navy today, I thank you for everything you do to keep Australia safe
WW1*
James Quin he/she could be talking about an ancestor in ww2
It is awe-inspiring.
Beautiful comment
Although I don't have any ancestors of my own, I also went there as I was recognised in my school for contribution towards ANZAC affairs and I remember being told the same thing too about the unknown soldier.
I thought it was an important symbol, since someone unrecognisable, represents more identity to the ANZACs than anyone with a face
its a song that tells us no matter what we will always be an australian.
ANZAC DAY is such an important day for all Australians and New Zealanders, we should have the best singing this important and special song to remember the Spirit of the Anzacs and their special day!!!
I live in Australia and I always listen to this song and it always will remind me of those brave souls that fought for our country
Our Countries........
Raz Hunter I’m an American but still admire the ANZACs for what they did and continue to do today
Really? I always think of how many people those politicians killed by sending all those young men to a war that wasn't ours to be a part of. They still do it. An army friend of mine just committed suicide a couple of weeks ago. Patriotism is just not worth it.
@@123ls3 I am so sorry to hear that. I'll never know the horrors of war but I have family members who served and they have told me about it. If he had of met me, I would have thanked him for his service and shown him that he is a hero and helped him see life anew. I can't imagine his pain but I know people who do. May he rest in peace.
moved me and my wife to tears, more than once , proud to have served, proud to have been born in Australia
us as well (to tears),so proud we were born here too
Absolutely right. So proud!

You know a song is more than great when you love it from the get-go. Brilliant song isn't it? I just don't understand how, what is now, 77 people can dislike it.
I know right
This ANZAC Day, lets make this go VIRAL. Spread through all social media channels
This already did a year ago it went on the news
These opening words of Keating are possibly his best speech. In 2017 I visited the Adelaide Cemetery where the Australian “Unknown Soldier “ lay for 75 years. The burial plaque provides this information. So if you are going to the Australian Memorial outside of VB take time to stand before this man’s original grave and say a prayer of thanks for the life he gave up. RIP!
I'm proud to have served his country! The Anzac Spirit will always live on in my heart and every ones Lest We Forget!!
🇦🇺🇳🇿
Thank you for your service Steve.
It brings me to tears, and i am not from australia. ANZACS were the only one to liberate my country not for their gain, but because it was necessary. Thanks from Austria
Michael Judex
Were your family anti imperialists sympathetic to Hungarians and Armenians?
As to my Family then, i cannot say. I meant to refer to WWII when th troops Form Australia an New Zeeland liberated Europe from the Nazise
Michael Judex that's right anything a brother in country

No offense but probably is country is the enemy
this song tells me

From a United States Marine Corps veteran, Thank you to those who currently serve, veterans, and those that have given their lives for the freedoms we enjoy. Thank you Sheppard, for guiding me to this video.
The Anzac's have nothing to do with the US.
I promise I'm not trying to be mean I'm just saying. And if you find it to mean please tell me and I will delete this
I don't mean to be rude ❤
If it wasn't for each soldier who fought we would not be in this world. Lest we forget ❤
So many lives were lost for our freedom. They sacrificed their lives for us. Without them, none of us would be here now. Friends, family and even animals lost their lives for us. I'm proud to be an Aussie.
Another proud Aussie, Granddad was a anti-aircraft gunner at Darwin in ww2, he died protecting our nation, to give me a life today, free of oppression, of natural wonder, mateship, family and friends, true freedom and democracy. To all service-people, past and present, I thank you.
He was such a hero and my great grandad served at Darwin before going to fight on the Kokoda Track and was a truck driver in the 53rd Militia Battalion.
"If I had to take hell, I would use the Australians to take it and the New Zealanders to hold it." -Erwin Rommel.
amen brother
I dont get it..
@@mariamchangezi4979 so Erwin Rommel was a Nazi leader and he was a very good one. And well respected even by the allies, he and his troops he commanded are the only Nazis in ww2 that committed no war crimes... Rommel hated what the SS were doing to the Jews. Instead he passion was being a leader in the military... but during the Afrika campaign the Anzacs used every gun they could to stop the Nazis from advancing and they did stop them... in fact the Aussies and Kiwis were the first to stop the Nazis in ww2 in a battle. Although Rommel and his man were defeated Rommel grew great respect for the Anzacs for being such a fierce soldier... once he lost the campaign in tobruk. Rommel said to Hitler himself in person "if you give me a battalion on Australians I'll conquer the world for you". - Erwin Rommel.
@@samuelfitzsimmons8907
I still dont get it. I know this sounds racist but im Muslim and i STILL dont get it.
It's a tribute from a great enemy commander to the NZ and Aussie forces. Nothing to do with racism or religion
This song makes me cry and I'm not even Australian! Such a lovely, patriotic song with respect to your warriors.
I love the spirit of the Anzacs
I'm so proud to be an Australian (a free man in a free country), to be able to make my own decisions, follow my own path, honour and serve whomever and whatever I wish, please help to keep this nation of ours free from hatred, bigotry, and welcome amongst us those that wish to assimilate and share with us the joys of being a true blue Aussie. Well done Lee, Guy, Sheppard, Jon, Jessica, Shannon, Megan and everybody involved in putting this together. Download it people and play it often. smile emoticon
Those who assimilate are welcome
Even I'm not an Australian but I like Australia a lot and have been there, I have some Australians friends, I really love this song a lot.

Hey Nina 🥰🥰
This song represents the true spirit of the Aussies.
I've lived in Australia for 5 years and to be fair dinkum, I consider it like my 2nd home.
I will be back to Australia, defo!!
All hail from Vietnam!!
So proud of the Anzacs....Lest we forget.
itachi uchiha Son, joining the army is a noble thing offering you a great career. But when the fighting needs to be fought, you are the one fighting and being shot at.
The diggers in W.W.1. thought of war as an adventure.
NONE OF THEM THOGHT IT WOULD BE SO HORRIFIC OR SCAREY.
None of them set out to be heroes. In any of the wars we have fought in.
It is the positions they found themselves in, and the way they handled themselves that made them heroes.
If they could choose not to be in those positions, they would gladly NOT be heroes.
Bruce Donnellan You are completely right mate they didn't have an idea of what it would be like but they did it anyway these people are my role models, This song is the most meaningful thing to Aussies and others I don't understand how anyone could dislike this song whoever did/does clearly has no respect and no heart
Maddy Falkiner
To what extent were they motivated to fight by being told that it was their duty as "Christian gentlemen" to rescue Armenian Christians from "Mohameden Tyranny", which was, indeed, half of Churchill's reason for the offensive, not just supporting the Russians, which (although they couldn't have known) would have prevented most Communism over the past 100 years.
Gary Beecroft lest we forget
To Lee Kernaghan, Guy Sebastian, Sheppard, Jon Stevens, Jessica Mauboy, Shannon Noll & Megan Washington and all involved in this superb song and video thank you from those who have worked the front line The Spirit of the ANZAC is alive in all of us. Thank you ABC for posting this video.

Im aussie and a year ago i went to the Australian war memorial. I was chosen as well as another 3 out of 250 kids to place a poppy on the unknown soldiers grave. I will treasure that memory forever. I also saw all those names covered in poppys and in the middle is the internal flame. Inside the building is like a maze with tanks, planes, subs, choppers, cannons and a lot more
My great grandfather was a WWII Vet, he actually Passed away ANZAC day 2000, right after the men marched passed his house
This year's ANZAC Day is a bit different but we should all stop for a few moments and just thank and reflect on all those that fought for our freedom today. Lest we forget
Those who are Australian born should be ashamed of themselves of they don't bother to recognise the men and women who fought for the freedom of our country. God bless all those who have served and continue to do so. Shame on those who are ignorant of our military and spend Anzac Day using it as just a day off work.
A fantastic tribute, download it people, iTunes, and play it often.
Rod Miskell So very well said. Thank you.
Techroach
Everyone forgets that half the reason the ANZAC were sent was to rescue as many Armenians as possible. Churchill's spies had picked up some photos of the genocide secretly taken by a sympathetic German Doctor, and was hoping, if Gallipoli had been successful, that several regiments could then be spared from Russian support to evacuate survivors. Alas, they never really got that chance.
AND KEEP OUR COUNTRY GUN FREE!!!
I can listen to this forever

Just recently, my school held our annual Anzac assembly. This song was featured in a lovely dance and drama performance held by some of the students here. I had the honour to perform myself in front of over 400 people.
"May the souls of the Anzacs rest in perpetual peace, and may their wonderful spirits live on in the hearts of their descendants."

What a wonderful tribute to our diggers.
first time i watched the actual video clip and i can say that it made me proud of my country proud of my heritage and proud very proud of the sacrifice that the men and women of this country have given to not only Australia but the world..
ANZAC DAY! ALWAYS MAKES ME EMOTIONAL! AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND! MUCH LOVE
Thankfully all my male relatives who took part in both WW1 & WW2 came back physically with wounds that could heal, unfortunately, there are some wounds that are invisible to the eye, but they run deep and are harder to heal. So if you listen to this song spare a thought for the battle that some veterans are still waging upon return to Australia. Very proud Australian LEST WE FORGET
I love the Australian soldiers they saved us Australians 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Proud to be Australian. Lest we forget. 🇦🇺🇳🇿

I LOVE THIS SONG I WAS CRYING THANK U FOR THIS SONG
Continuing to hold the Australian spirit as high as ever and may the light never vanish
Out at the edge of my driveway this morning holding a candle. As it's flame brightly flickered, I listened to this song over and again. Tears streaming down my face, I stared up at the dawn sky in sombre reflection. Thank you to everyone who has and continues to serve our great country. Your sacrifices are not in vain. I am so proud to be an Aussie. Thank you to our brothers and sisters across the ditch. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten. A happy and reflective ANZAC Day to all Aussies and Kiwis.
