Ran R3 a couple of days ago with the temps forecasted in the 90’s. The heat was no joke but also manageable. I’ve topped out in below 20F before so it was nice finishing and not instantly turning into an ice cube. The Canyon is a great “choose your own adventure “ type place. Love your adventurous spirit and sharing your journey, thank you.
Dang, you’re one of the crazy ones! I keep telling myself I’d like to trail run, but then I realize how much more it would hurt when I fall while running vs walking… 😂so I’ll stick with hiking and running flat and cheering for y’all as you zip past me! 🎉
Question, what were your two campsites you stood at? I'm planning on doing this hopefully this year in the fall thinking staying at Bright Angel the first night then the following day hike up to the North Rim short break head back down to cottonwood campsite then the following day hike back to the south rim most likely bright angel.

North Rim is the most beautiful in my opinion , but nothing beats the whole thing! Do it!!!

I'm heading there in a couple days for another run in the Canyon, and really looking forward to it. Hoping to get in 3 this year.
Hope your run went well! It is shocking to see how many people were so unprepared for a hike like this! It’s not just another National Park hike! I was even surprised how much more difficult it was after all the research I did. The rangers will never be short of work there!
