Totally agree with your findings, bars are not comfortable for me at 6 ft, the suspension is extremely dated, and now that they are over $30K its ridiculous to not come with LED turn signals. A special is a premium model, however lacks premium features. I just traded a 17 RGS for a 22 RGS and can't believe how many things were taken away versus the few things that were added.
Basic/outdated brakes/non-adjustable levers, halogen signals, auto locking bags require buying a 45-50k bike(still having the outdated braking system) I like my bike, but the excuse it would drastically increase the price to offer top shell, hell up to date, parts is blown out of the water looking around the industry. I don’t expect completely changing the bike, just make what’s there “better”. KTM made the 790, then turned around and put top shelf Everything(suspension, complete braking system, engine tweak.. Everything functional) and added less than 10% to the total cost of the 890R. HD does a fancy paint job, a badge to the same bike and adds 30% to the ticket. That’s the bs we’re, the actual consumers, are getting tired of from the Motor Company.
Serves you hd guys right ya’ll keep buying these machines while hd is charging y’all champagne prices and giving ya’ll beer budget product. Most of you hd guys are only starting to complain because how much they are charging over sticker price.
@@freebehindbars8654 I've never had that issue not even once in 32 years of riding ...I've been able to buy new and USED with no a concern for the brand of value of the bike from the lender
I owned an Ultra Limited. the handlebar placement on that bike fit me well. But like most Harley owners I had to spend $$$ for a better seat, an aftermarket suspension, a taller windscreen, etc. I test rode comparable Indian models and they didn’t require any upgrades in order to be comfortable and ride well. Ditto Honda Goldwing.
Ive owned 2 Street and 2 Road Glides, just traded in a Street for a Road. I’d say this is a fair review. It gets down to what you prefer. Me, riding a ‘23 RG. Cheers
I agree w/ your review. Have owned both ‘19 SG standard & ‘21 RGL & there are few differences that actually matter. Just between SG & RG fairings, it boils down to preferred aesthetic, if you want built in cubbies, & how many headlights you want stock or if you want day makers or not. The handling is essentially identical - anyone arguing SG handles worse than RG either hasn’t owned an SG or is beyond weak in their upper body. The wind buffeting is similar (just into your chest vs into your head based on rider height), but neither is going to provide a glass smooth experience, turbulence is just that & is unavoidable. The suspension & seat are adequate, but like you said they’re one size fits all, which sucks for the extremes of the spectrum. I’m 320lbs & am okay on stock, but hate it. 2up on stock is like riding a hard tail on the frame. I support aftermarket suspension & for heavy riders advocate for going to 13” if not higher. Makes a world of difference for both 1up & 2up. The last bit is why I personally went w/ the RGL after my SG. It had the luggage capacity I wanted, had a fairing further away from me & had 13” suspension stock, which I swapped for Legend Revo Arc w/ remote reservoirs at the same 13” height. Amazing ride now for sure, just need to dial in the front w/ matching suspension & maybe a fat tire kit. I did swap out my bars to the LA Choppers Grande Apes w/ 16” rise, since the stock bars have that “wheelbarrow” feel like you pointed out too. SG stock bars sucked too. Too low & angled oddly, but I did do an 8hr round trip in a single day on stock seat, stock bars, & stock suspension on my SG, so it is doable. Just maybe make sure to preload 800mg ibuprofen before the ride. It was rough.
Thank you for spitting some facts about the fairings and wind. I can ride the street with no hands and im not worried about the wind pushing the bike. Whoever says the RG is so much more stable is full of it

interesting comment on the bars, I feel like they are perfectly situated. Since this is mostly unchanged, I have a 21 Road Glide and just did a stage 1 which opens that baby up great!!
Those Indie Ridge boots look nice but they don't make them in wide sizes. This is a really common issue with motorcycle boot manufacturers none of them offer sizes in wide. I shouldn't have to buy a boot two sizes bigger just get something wide enough to fit me. I've actually even quit looking for motorcycle boots because of this
I traded a 17 Slim S for a 23 RGS. I liked this review for its honest. I test rode both the SG and RG. For me, I think the frame-mounted fairing was deciding factor. My Prospect gold lasted about five minutes in the show room. They rolled it in while I was looking at the blue two-tone.
I agree about the bars. I have a Street Glide and the bars were very uncomfortable to my wrists. You would think for as much as these bikes cost Harley would make them with better stock bars.
Got a Road Glide ST! Road Glide looks more aggressive! I love both the Street Glide and the Road Glide but I think the Road Glide is more sporty looking!!!I’ve owned both and I had both at the same time! Road Glides are hard to not love!
The biggest change I can see coming is Adaptive Cruise Control. I've been watching a lot of BMW R18 Bagger videos and have it in my car, brilliant the way it keeps you at a set distance from cars in front. I like those big fat T bars.
I've owned both the RG and SG (which I currently have) and there is some difference between the two. For me, its the perception of speed. The RG felt like it was going slower because of the fairing and the SG feels more normal. And as stated, its just an opinion that's subjective.
I love the RK Special. I featured a nice build a good while back that I loved. I can't remember if it had the windshield on it in the video but he used a 2014? CVO Road King windshield and it was perfect.
Great, honest review, subbed. I just bought a 23 Road Glide Limited, it's my first Road Glide. Colour choice was a hard one, I went with the billiard blue, the gold does look great in the sun. I am 6'4 so I figured the stock bars will be the first to go, I like my arms a little more straight and shoulder height than the stock will allow. I agree that H-D dropped the ball by not using full led's around the bike. I like the look of the shark nose fairing and the little storage spaces. I will likely be upgrading the rear suspension, I am interested to see if H-D follows what Indian did with the rear electronic controlled suspension on their Challenger for the next gen Road Glide.
I am 6’3 I have had both and a RK around town the road king is my favorite on the Highway the SG is my favorite the wind thing to me is something that gets repeated over and over but is a non issue. I sold the SG for the RG then sold that and looking to go back to a SG I think. The biggest benefit to a RG to me is it’s far easier to change out the bars and better platform to build a performance bagger but that’s it. I think the SG fairing looks better also.

I will tell you the same thing that I’ve told several others when we’ve done this comparison between shark nose and batwing. I currently on a road king and a street glide. I have also owned an electric glide and a road glide. I don’t care what people say there is no difference between the shark nose and the bat wing. I think it’s something that other people have put in their heads and they buy it. But I will say the road king is still my favorite bike of all 4.

crazy to see overspray, non LED turn signals and dated suspension on these bikes still. Harley loves to just warm up the same turd year after year.. So glad I took chance and test rode an Indian Chieftain DH after riding a few SGS at a Harley dealer. Even the sales process at the Indian dealer was a joy

Great review! I don’t think these bikes are overpriced. Indian challenger is just as much money. I’ve got a SG ST on order, looking forward to ripping around on it when it comes in.
Challenger is just as much with better suspension, more power, way better suspension, adjustable windshield, all LED lights, and a better stock seat. The road glide looks better to me but the challenger is bang for the buck.
@@leftlegtrumpcard8152 those are all valid points. Biggest issue with Polaris is their lack of dealer network, lack of aftermarket support, and they’ve got to stop lying about being the oldest American motorcycle manufacturer.
@Fever I don't mind the manufacturer propaganda it's marketing. They definitely need better dealer network and the aftermarket is on the come up just not where it needs to be. Harley depends in aftermarket because stock is so far behind. I want to spend my "aftermarket money" on cool shit. Not a suspension and led lights.
Bars are awful for someone over 6' ft. The first thing I changed on my personal bike, went from an 18 RGS to a 22 RGL. Setting up these bikes for touring doesn't take much but a few changes like bars go a long way!
I really enjoy your vids. I’m in the market for a 2023 Road Glide special anniversary edition. Harley dealers are tacking on huge profit margins as much as 10 grand over MSRP across the country I know this because I have been calling them. And that doesn’t include the profit margin from invoice to MSRP. Doc fees, yada yada yada. Just an fyi.
Bikes thousands less come with top shelf radial mounted Brembo calipers and branded adjustable levers, led signal, auto locking bags… it’s not the massive changes we want, it’s the improvements to what’s already there and available that needs to happen. They sell over 200-300k bikes a year, the bikes better equipped come from manufacturers with a lot less market pull. Really no excuse for everything staying the same.
No if I had a 21 I wouldn't either. Especially of you've already set yours up how you like it. Yeah bars are very subjective. I just feel like they are in my lap on the RG.
What are your thoughts on a front fat tire kit? Advantages/Disadvantages? I also am a little shocked at the over spray in the side luggage compartments! Very odd! I have to say I used to have a Sportster with those same handlebars that came back toward you, but I actually found them rather comfortable in that position. I’m 5’10” fwiw. Good review! Love the bike!
I love the look of the fat tire front ends. I haven't ridden them enough to give true feedback. I have however ridden a lot of Breakouts and Vrods with fat back tires. It definitely handles different and doesn't corner as well. I'd think the fat front may be the same story but can't say 100%. Appreciate the love!
You mentioned you haven't had any issues with the stock Harley speakers. In reviews you ride full face. I have a full face Simpson helmet which makes a fair amount of wind noise which takes away from my sound system. Have you found a preference in full face helmet which keeps wind noise quite enough to where it doesn't interfere with your sound system?
I run the Bell Star helmet and it does pretty good with the wind. I also run a Cardo unit so I have music in my helmet now. I used to think I wouldn't like it but I prefer it over external audio now. Also the calls sound like you're in a car not on a bike.
Hey, Brad. I’m 6’2” and have test ridden both RGS and SGS with a full face helmet. Around town speeds noticed no big differences between the two wind-wise. However, at highway speeds I got some wicked head buffeting on the Street Glide. Even tried a taller windshield and it helped a little, but not close to the breezy feeling I got on the Road Glide. Was very disappointed. What’s interesting is that I’ve talked with shorter riders and they have the exact opposite impressions. Best thing to do is test ride both and see how they handle wind at all speeds.
They shouldn’t come with led turn signals why pay more for all that extra stuff that your going to put on, because everyone puts on what they want. It’s crazy to think that we will have to pay much more for all the extras we don’t want, Harley keep doing what your doing. We as consumers will buy are after market items that we want to purchase. The bikes are amazing, again you don’t need to change anything.
Being on motorcycles for the last 45 years plus, I can honestly say that the rear suspension is easily the worst I've ever ridden. Every bump is transferred to my spine. The handlebars are bent back way to far. At 6'2" I have numbness in my hands, wrists and arms on long rides. The rest of the bike is great though.
Lol. Jello arms. 😂😂 So what would you say are the fundamental differences between the street glide in the road glide ? Or is it all just personal preference in your opinion?
Agree with the bars for sure But you def do not have apple car play as you say As for the 1 fob thing thats your dealer My 2023 came with 2 and also the battery tender My sons didnt come with 2 or the battery tender from a different dealer So we asked and were told its dealers choice
Comes off the truck with 1 fob and 2 keys. Your dealer must have just done you a solid and provided you a spare. Apple Car play is only a $30 fit but you're right it's not standard equipment. All of our bikes come from the factory with a tender sometimes they just aren't hanging out.
I love Harley’s.....been a faithful rider since 1991......Harley needs to build a bike with the technology that is on the Indian Challenger. Compare and you will see my point......better test ride them both.
Bro. I like some of your Videos but as soon as you said you like HD speakers? You need to watch NVS Audio because HD stock sound is the worst on any production motorcycle.
I love the Harley Davidson culture. However this is a business. Let’s face it, all of us complaining are all of us that are customers! Why? Because we are loyal to the brand and the culture we grew comfortable with. Look a Jeep is a Jeep until we lift it , put bigger wheels and tires on it , add a few other personal touches and then suddenly you live your jeep. The same goes for Harley Davidson in my humble opinion. If any manufacturer of motorcycles came out with the perfect bike what would you then do? Nothing? Just ride the same clone the other person is riding? I think not! Harley Davidson owners are usually a more outgoing type individual. They are very creative, imaginative, outgoing people. We enjoy making each of our bikes a reflection of what burns inside us. Let’s face it, a little piece of our personality shows on every bit of our chromed out, powder coated. custom painted war horse! There isn’t a weekend that goes by where we don’t get another thought of what we might do to our rides or we might make our next destination! I know I am just thankful I can afford to be riding one of the most widely recognized motorcycles in the world !!! In fact I think we all should! Happy and safe riding brother and sisters!!!
Have to give credit to Harley for a "not that bad seat" . Why ? They deserve "credit" for not making it worse for $30,000.00+ 1 fob.... Really ?? Imagine losing or breaking or "washing"the only key fob you have ....$$$$. In this review I noticed a whole lot of excuses on why Harley didn't do something better... The suspension, the seat , the lights , the brakes, the over spray on the paint etc ...what exactly DID standout ? What what excelled above all other brands , besides the whole resale value thing... I'm not saying anything doesn't Excel , I'm asking what did in this review ? For the years in business, for the resources HD has , and for the price , was anyting cutting-edge or class-leading ?
There is a solid reason Harleys are the most repossessed vehicle in America. Most people you see on them can’t afford 30k plus for a bike but what choice do people have. It’s crazy how out of control it’s gotten.
Haha I tried to kinda throw that out early at the beginning just so people didn't waste their time. Then again like I said if they changed every year prices would be insane due to R&D.

@Fever I'll also add that I've heard about some shitty service from some indian dealerships on the mechanic side of things.
@@leftlegtrumpcard8152 that sucks to hear. But HD is not immune from that either.
I have a 21 road glide limited. Not enough difference for me to want to trade. I happen to like the handlebars vs. the street glide/ ultra
No if I had a 21 I wouldn't either. Especially of you've already set yours up how you like it. Yeah bars are very subjective. I just feel like they are in my lap on the RG.
What are those hose/line on rear cylinder? Don't remember one in the older model..
The nav doesn't run off of you phone, and to get carplay you have to plug into the USB unfortunately.
@@throttleblip9854 thank you for the info.
Great channel, enjoy the content as it is honest and not biased.
Industrial yellow or heirloom red for me. Much better colors in my opinion
The boot very good quality and comfort
Nice video. I’m 6’3”. Do you think I would notice a difference in head buffeting between the batwing and shark nose fairing?
Appreciate it, Brad!
@@MagosAdeptus Thanks
I your experience 😂. The streetglide is not 15 lbs heavier, it’s the opposite . The roadglide faring is heavier
That Road glide looks good
Hd Saddle bags are kickass
They shouldn’t come with led turn signals why pay more for all that extra stuff that your going to put on, because everyone puts on what they want. It’s crazy to think that we will have to pay much more for all the extras we don’t want, Harley keep doing what your doing. We as consumers will buy are after market items that we want to purchase. The bikes are amazing, again you don’t need to change anything.
Not normal to paint it with the hardware on it, but I wouldn’t take delivery if I was buying it. They better clean that paint overspray up
Was that a ST in red in the background??
The El Diablo version.
Lol. Jello arms. 😂😂
So what would you say are the fundamental differences between the street glide in the road glide ? Or is it all just personal preference in your opinion?
Had a 23 Road Glide Limited, did not need my phone for navigation
Agree with the bars for sure But you def do not have apple car play as you say As for the 1 fob thing thats your dealer My 2023 came with 2 and also the battery tender My sons didnt come with 2 or the battery tender from a different dealer So we asked and were told its dealers choice
Comes off the truck with 1 fob and 2 keys. Your dealer must have just done you a solid and provided you a spare. Apple Car play is only a $30 fit but you're right it's not standard equipment. All of our bikes come from the factory with a tender sometimes they just aren't hanging out.
Are you still building that softail standard or is it already done?
I am. Engine will be next. Collecting all the parts as we speak. Hoping to start on it by the end of the month!
Got $50k saved up but I think I'll buy a new truck instead.
Thanks proposal have New road by myself know all about limp mode be ready
I love Harley’s.....been a faithful rider since 1991......Harley needs to build a bike with the technology that is on the Indian Challenger. Compare and you will see my point......better test ride them both.
Bro. I like some of your Videos but as soon as you said you like HD speakers? You need to watch NVS Audio because HD stock sound is the worst on any production motorcycle.
I love this bike
The Bars do suck from the factory.14s are the way to go
Are you in Anderson?
That color is amazing and will build a RG 107 with that color. These nasty dealers are over priced them local to me! I
Can I fit a full face helmet in the saddlebags?
No, half shell is all I've ever been able to squeeze in. The tour pack will hold 2 full face helmets tho
@@Mainecat21 appreciate your reply bro
I've had the same experience as Scott. Have to use the King Tour Pack also, the chopped won't work.
In terms of pricing they aren’t all that different from a gold wing or Indian. I agree - the handlebar position on the road glide isn’t for me.
That’s a lot of tech don’t forget to enjoy the ride. RK guy. Eff all that silly tech.
Bike isn’t designed for all that weight. The limits are like 400 lbs
The new models now are basically just new colors, for the most part
its a beautiful bike
U gotta fine tune ur bike 2 ur own preference
Nothing has changed from my 19 rgs by the looks of it...
Different center console/dash and I think that’s about it.
My god thats gorgeous...
Problem is that the Special model is lowered in the rear and loses travel as well as upsetting the chassis dynamics. Bars are all wrong.
It has to be difficult doing reviews on bike that nothing more than color has changed.
I won't lie it's hard to get excited. The one reason I even do it is for people that haven't kept up with the brand or people that a new to it.
@@throttleblip9854 makes sense. Love your videos!
They Probably got a new guy in the paint booth lol
lol maybe a kid thats playing on his phone
Jdjdjdjdjdj
The handlebars make you feel like you on a horse to be honest, but its really not a bad bike.
Well what do ya know?! It's the same as the previous years.
Haha I tried to kinda throw that out early at the beginning just so people didn't waste their time. Then again like I said if they changed every year prices would be insane due to R&D.
HARLEY RIDERS PAST & NOW!!
I've got a brand new Harley
And a tank full of gas.
A beautiful woman behind me
And we're not driving fast.
We're pulling a trailer
With a tent packed inside.
For camping beneath the stars
Just me and my bride.
Come morning we’ll go fishing
Below the damn of Table Rock
Where the big trout all hide
From those anglers who talk.
We’ll bait our hooks with salmon eggs
And catch a pan or two.
Strike a fire and cook a meal
And fear not the morrow’s new
We left our cars at home
Cause we chose to go two wheeling.
As we cling to our best on wheels
It gives us a special feeling!

sorry about pete
I don't know why Harley uses those garbage _wheel barrow_ handle bars.
Only get carplay if u spend 300 on a whim ffs
Good ole' Harley...put horrible bars on the new bike so that 80% of riders will have to pay to change it. Git that money, Harley.
Can you spare me your time?. I want to ask your email so I can personally ask you about the availability of a certain unit. Thank you..
Sport bike handling over this any day. That thing is dangerous on the road and cumbersome to maneuver properly. Sad business mayne.
The best bike ever built has been discontinued.... the Road King.... - God knows who takes such decisions.... now, the rest appears rediculously overpriced nonsens
