I read in the comments that some people complaint that its done with the fist (Uchi Uke) instead Kake Uke, but i am tired to explain people, that depends of the style. I do besides Shito RYu also Goju Kai and this is correct!!!! Good video, hugs from Toledo, Spain ♥ 2 Dan here
Well said! It's like that old joke: how many karate-ka does it take to change a light bulb? 10. 1 to do it, and 9 to stand around saying "that's nice, but that's not how we do it in my dojo" XD Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment - we really appreciate it!
This is fantastic. I really appreciate the reasoning behind the slight variations, and especially like the emphasis on accommodating the differences between different Senseis. Many online tutorials are like "this is the way it's done", but in reality there are many variations. Thankyou for helping people around the world by factoring that in. I look forward to implementing this learning in the dojo.
Thank you so much for this lovely comment, Grant! Karate is at its best when we celebrate all the different ways different instructors have left their thumbprint on the katas. Different isn't wrong, but sadly there's this weird fundamentalism that "my way is the only way" that restricts us from learning more. We hope you will enjoy our other videos - we've treated all the kata up to Kururunfa :)
I used to love Geki sai dai ni, it was one of the few kata where I could vividly imagine being in a real fight and totally steamrolling my assailant. As a result, my geki sai katas were never all that pretty.
Thank you Sir for taking the time to share your knowledge and skills. Your teaching method is very much appreciated, it's a pleasure to learn from you!
Thank you for the super thanks! We truly do appreciate it, and especially so on such an old video - hopefully you can see the change and growth in our channel since we released this one 🙇♂️
I am a follower from Turkey. Love Goju Ryu and find your videos useful.... I've been expecting a kind of full tutorial serie from you such as, Kata full speed, kata slow motion and kata's bunkai detailed.... Maybe you can think about it...
Hello! We recently did the entire Goju Ryu kata ladder at slow and performance speed: ua-cam.com/video/TFAVPJOw-jA/v-deo.html And here are our playlists, organised by kata, topic, video type: www.youtube.com/@GojuRyuKarateCentre/playlists (We've had a busy 4 years here!) One day we will get round to making an Udemy course that people can enjoy :) Thank you so much for your support!
This tutorial is fantastic, thank you so much! I've been having difficulties with mawashi uke, but after watching your video, I finally fingered it out!
Hello! This is actually such a good point - we will add it to future videos on kata! Our other video on Geki Sai Dai Ichi and Ni also has a view of the Kata from the front and back, hopefully this will be more helpful 🙏🏻
