As always great explanation with great illustrations. Thanks Ryan for sharing your knowledge and expertise. Your contribution to the trad is much appreciated.
As your photo clearly showed, I think the NEC should address conduit fill for large gauge wires and/or large diameter conduit with small gauge wires. For example, 54 #10-AWG THW wires in a 2” EMT, or 10 #2-AWG THW wires in a 2” EMT, are both crazy (hard to work with and to do maintenance or inspection) yet it’s code compliant.
Excellent discussion, and a very thorough analysis Ryan. However, as pertaining to the NM cable calculations at 36:17 I believe if you had two 12-2 cables you would be limited to 31% of the Cross -Sectional area not 40% of the conduit per Chapter 9 table 1.
You are very knowledgeable. I am a first year apprentice. This helps alot. Thank you.
Glad to help!

Correct.
Great stuff, Ryan. Thank you, sir.
awesome video my friend!!!! the King of tehcode
There are cables and cords that are listed in table 400.4 and communication cables in table 800.154(a) that we don't have total area for.
@@SelinaAl-Shaer Agreed. We have to get the actual dimensions from the manufacturer for those instances.
Enjoy the talk .
With 24" raceway 60% fill, do you got to factor derate rule. And up size wires.?
You do not need to apply ampacity adjustments for raceways shorter than 24".
Would a micrometer be an acceptable calculation method?
I would think so.
Thank you. Appreciate your hard work.
This Guy is Great 👍
Ryan....doesn't the .8 rule allow 2 12/2 in a ¾ emt?
Excellent explanations
