THE BRITISH DIESEL DIRECTORY 2 Western Regional Diesel Hydraulics - Railfilms

- The birth of the hydraulics was a direct result of the extent to which the former BR regions existed as separate companies even under the overall banner of nationalisation. For more details please look at www.telerail.co...
Congratulations this is the last video I watched of 2024. Happy new year! 😂👍🎇🎉🎆
Can remember seeing 832 onslaught at eggington junction, just outside Uttoxeter late 70s.
They look fantastic double heading!
And now for the first time in a good while, D821 and D832 have been reunited at this year’s ELR diesel gala!
Superb narration. Reminds me of John Noakes (Blue Peter).
There could of three surviving warship but glory was cut up by mistake in 1985 in Swindon
D818 glory was deliberatly cut up by swindon works as a sarcastic and cruel act when br announced closure of the works.what a waste and so sad.
@@graemekornicki6810 Makes my blood boil now so the crime worked
Crazy to think only 2 of these exist.
And none of the NBL examples.
Them were the days , any chance of the Warship back at the ELR ????
Strikes me as much more logical to do diesel hydraulic than electric I would have thought...
Diesel 10!
No.
@@bennickssyes Diesel 10 is a class 42 warship diesel with an illegal claw modification.
@@lemmythebulldog8812 Who never existed.
@@bennickss WHAAAAT? You're telling me Thomas the tank engine isn't a documentary about British trains??? It was some kind of stop motion or cartoon??
That black livery looks very smart, even nicer than the old BR green. A shame they have it in BR blue these days.
That black color is fictional. It's good they clad 821 in her birthday suit "British Racing Green". Jim Clark would love it.
How can you cut a loco up by mistake, Glory was resplendent at Swindon works entrance for years!!!
Excuse me if I'm asking a potentially ignorant question but what's the difference between a warship and a western
The Western were more powerful this locomotive were the equivalent of a Castle steam locomotive the Western's a Pacific steam locomotive 4-6-2 on other BR lines.
The Western were more attractive and appeared much sleeker in appearance.
Physically the Western’s were bigger, with a C-C wheel layout compared to the B-B of most other hydraulics. At 2,700 HP, they were the most powerful of the Western’s hydraulic fleet, and only the Class 50, 53, and originally 47 could match their power in the Type 4 range
Warships were built from 1958-1962, while Westerns between 1961 and 1965. Warships were withdrawn by 1972, while Westerns lasted a little longer, the final withdrawal taking place in 1977. 2 Warships made it into preservation (a third, D818 Glory was kept at Swindon Works until 1985 when BR announced the closure of the works. In response, Swindon deliberately cut up D818 in protest.), while 7 Westerns were preserved.
Westerns featured two MD655 12-cylinder engines supplying 2,700 horsepower when both are active. Warships are powered by two MD650s, resulting in an output of 2,000 horsepower when both are active.
They were six-axle locos, with a C-C arrangement, whereas Warships had only four- in a B-B arrangement.
Hey I know that voice
he narrates a dvd I have at my house
they need to turn one into Diesel 10
No. Way to ruin a rare and historic locomotive. That mistake of a show makes being a railway enthusiast embarrassing.
@@bennickss I get your point but it be cool to have a working claw like Diesel 10 and Thomas is no shitshow btw
@@DyronHusky It is. It’s embarassing to be a railway enthusiast because of that little blue shitstain. There would be no point putting a claw on it
@@bennickss bro you like steam engines maybe just say Thomas helped save some of them
But idc what you say you really makeing fun of someone cuz you watched Thomas ok how good that make you feel dumass cuz you really starting to piss me off
Maybe they were decommissioned because the could not haul the Mk2 coaches as these were air- conditioned.
Is that Fred Dibnah! 0.48

that's diesel 10 in Thomas the tank
I don't understand why the Warship class locomotice would suit Diesel 10.
cornrowcity look at the rear cab, but that’s about it
@@Mr_Prospector_ because is don't have a claw/pinchy
If they have a pinchy they suit diesel 10
no.
It's diesel 10!!!
But without the claw
they just cut the ho model and replace with claw and clay face
Shut up.
@@bennickss bro be trolling. 🤣

Too bad saving weight is bad for traction.
