Hey Magen, Outstanding! Mistakes add character & interest to wood turnings. As I look at it, things were to suppose to turn out this way. Nice job lady!!!! 👍👍👍👍 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
That looks pretty cool, I haven't tried a torus yet. I like that your video is generally very clear and in focus, it is not that common. I am still struggling with exposure. What camera/lights setup do you use? iPhone? Keep well, Rob.
Thank you! I use a Nikon P900 camera on a tripod. I used your tip of adding the sandbags to the bottom of the lathe, so I hope the shots have a lot less movement. As for the lighting, I try to cheap out where I can. I have really crappy lighting in the garage, so I use two floor lamps and a clamp lamp (navlinge style name) from Ikea. They seem to work ok. This week, I just added an LED plug in light to the garage ceiling. Maybe that will help too.
@@WoodturningByMEI use the iPhone 8, so really want to upgrade but will wait until I get a new work phone in December to see the quality. It seems I haven't quite solved the camera shake on my side when the blank is misshapen. I hope you saw an improvement in your lathe stability when you added the ballast. I think your channel will do well, you do a very nice VoiceOver. Mine feels very awkward and is cringe when I listen to it. Keep well, Rob
Another stunning piece Magen, you have some grand skills. The colour, grain and finish are wonderful. What is that contraption you used to do the centre? Thank you for sharing and stay safe. Keep on turning. Cheers, Bluey 👍
Thank you so much Bluey! The contraption I made was based on a design from Gord Rock. It is a donut chuck. I put a link in the video description to his video where he shows how to make it. You can also use it to finish the bottoms of bowls.
Thanks for sharing your struggles...hopefully I can avoid them if I were to try one! By the way...was that a painters tape bandaid or a protective device in the beginning? 😂
I hope you try it one day! I put the painters tape on my hand to protect it from the shavings. I don't want to wear a glove because I'm such a derp, my luck, I'll be the case study warning video that shows everyone else why you shouldn't wear a glove! Hahaha.
Those guide holes are a great idea!
I'm enjoying watching your Artistic Side come to light 💛
Thank you so much Scott. It has been so fun. :)
Honest video! I love makers who aren’t afraid to show their mistakes. We all do it. Subbed for sure!
Heck yeah! Thanks so much! I agree, why hide it.
You are being too modest. It really looks great.
Well done!
I'm glad you like it. Thank you Leo!
Looks really good. I do like the base idea. A smaller faceplate or wormwood screw would have been a good start.
A very nice finished piece - your perseverance paid off!
Thank you!
Muy espectacular, eso es una escultura sorprendente... lo felicito
¡Muchas gracias!
Pretty piece,👍👍
Thank you very much!
So cool!! Honestly I want to wear that donut as a bracelet. 🍩 🍩 🍩

HAHA Blair! I really missed the boat on that one. I should have thrown in a Homer Simpson plug.

No apology needed I thought it was hilarious! I'm too mad at Dunkin for taking all the stores out of Utah! Lol
