At the day when John dies Sherlock don't want to live not a day longer too I think. He would really jump this time from the roof of St. Barth's hospital, because his heart is broken and he can't imagine a life alone without John for himself. But it's better I don't imagine that, it would be to sad.
I think, especially after season 4, if sherlock were to lose John he would most definitely lose his mind. He couldn't get John out of his head in that one episode when he announced he wasn't dead. He'd probably not be able to deduce like he usually would and probably wouldn't even function properly and like I said, lose his mind.

They both fought off others better than John. Even Irene Adler was better in a pinch. John just sat there & waited for it to be over. Seriously? Do your deductions.
