In 1991 I was 6 years old... Toejam & Earl subconsciously (mostly consciously) made me a huge fan of the Funk Genre. Long story short. I'm almost 40 & have been playing Funk Bass for close to 23 years...
Ha ha I used to do that too (this is the bassist), and when someone would catch it they would be so happy. They make me happy too! Such great basslines!
I honestly expected this to have a million views. What did everyone else do with their childhood? And how in the Funkotron does this have any dislikes?
Folks, thank you all so much for the amazing comments and over 10,000 views!! Like many people, we've been halted by the pandemic for all of 2020, but we're getting ready to regroup and work on some more music for y'all! We've got 2 new things in the works right now and of course we'll be working on Panic on Funkotron some time in the near future :) Thank you for being patient with us and for showing some love for funky video game music. We'll see you soon!! (Chris, bassist)
I found this vid because I periodically revisit the Panic on Funkotron soundtrack. Please do a medley of that one! I think the second game's soundtrack was even better. Straight Herbie Hancock inspired. Loved watchin you guys jam out on this, hope to see more. Also, as someone who used to play jazz bass as a teenager, Chris crushed that! God damn!
The sounds coming out from that Juno-6 and MO6 are perfect for covering these classic tunes. Any chance the keyboard player could share some information on which sounds are dialed in on the synths during this performance? Or perhaps those sounds are custom made rather than presets? Great performance by the way. I’ve listened to it several times. Keep the funk going.
Thanks so much!! I'm using primarily a "BriteClavi" (bright clavinet) patch on the MO6, and sawtooth wave on the Juno-6. On the Juno-6 here I turn up the resonance on the VCF past the cutoff frequency to give it that nasally tone. Usually if I'm tweaking anything, it's the cutoff frequency and resonance. I also tune the sustain on the envelope filter to get more staccato notes when necessary. On Alien Break Down I also punch in the sub osc square wave to give it a fuller sound. Keep it funky 😎
This game had one of THE BEST soundtracks. Great work! I love how your drummer switches to the pads when the keys aren't going to keep some of the digital elements in the mix
Thank you so much! It was definitely inspired by the fact that there was nothing like it (that I could find) on the internet so far. Sometimes you have to make the thing you want to see!
It is indeed one of the very best two player games ever made. True genius. I mean what other game (not including mmporg and online shooters etc) is actually best played with two? I always felt a bit bored if I played it solo. The earthlings, the presents omg I could on.
Man, this is so good. If I could hire you guys to play this on a loop behind me wherever I went, I don't think it'd be possible to ever have a bad day again Would love to hear you cover Panic on Funkotron!
I can't tell you guys how many times I've listened to this medley. This is amazing and brings me back to the good old days. I'll probably listen to it a million more times.
This snare drum is honor to us.

This is one of the most fundamentally sound sega genisis OST conversions ever. Every note. Amazing
We got 'em all! (also thank you!)
Cleanest bedroom recording I've heard. I'm gonna guess 10000 hours EQing that snare
@@ShinzoX90 I'm a drummer so I'm definitely not in the know
Oh, using the electronic drum to replicate the elevator beats was genius. 15 minutes well spent, time to put this on loop for my morning commute.
I want you to play at my wedding, my first born's birth, and my funeral

Congratulations on potentially living forever!
I'm so glad this exists. Funkiest video game ever made. I always play TJ&E bass lines during sound check and see if anyone catches it.

Come to Glasgow.
"ToeJam is a Poindexter"
love how the keyboardist is making room for toejam and earl to get down
y'all ain't no poindexters at all, y'all are funklords!!! awesome!!

Finally someone did this,
Right??

30 years later, this tune still sits in my head.
When that first bass lick of Alien Breakdown hit, I descended to level zero
(Headphones with decent bass required)
You guys are killing it. Awesome stuff
SEGA/Paramount really need to make a movie based on these characters.
We are available to record the soundtrack, get at us SEGA and Paramount!
I got some news for you buddy
Basketball player Steph Curry is looking into it
No. If they were going to do it, 1996 was the time.
I loved this funky youtube video!
This is the best thing my ears have ever experienced
I love that this exists. I was just trying to see if anyone covered Funkotronic Beat, and you guys did the entire OST! This is amazing!
05:55 - you know that when you have this music transition from elevator hard times are coming: nerds, crazy shopping woman, lawn mower man... omfg lol
No Poindexters here… pure Funk Lords 😎 Thanks for making this, it’s made 11 year old me smile all the way from the ‘90s
