Yes it is. I have it (the IIIx actually) and it's so much fun to use and it is actually pocketable. I keep in the same front right pocket of my pants as my phone, and they both fit comfortably.
Fuji is definitely sweet! It was actually my first choice but two things put me on the Ricoh. Price and size. Social media really made that x100v jump up high in price and found out the Fuji isn't as pocketable as i wished. Still a great camera though. I'd love to have one but I have too much gear already lol
It looks like you’re holding a small smart phone sideways and due to the lack of viewfinder it presents in a similar fashion for street photos, so its form for me is its strongest feature alongside an APS-C sensor size. The price is prohibitive for me and most hobbyists I would say though, it’s a serious back up or tool for dedicated street photographers and not many of us are that. Otherwise I’d have that camera in a heartbeat.
You brought up some great points! Price is definitely a bit higher than I'd like and you're right about the street photos. Where I live, there's not many people roaming around but I do travel often. Carrying a heavy camera all day wears you out. That's where that RICOH really shines.
Why do people make comparison videos like this? The X100V is weather sealed, with lens filter. The Ricoh battery is really crap, I’ve gone out with 3 and still run out. It also overheats quickly with continuous use. Different focal lengths Fuji 23mm, Ricoh 28 or 40. There is a video on here somewhere with a comparison of a Leica Q3 and a XT5! My argument is they are totally different cameras that don’t warrant a comparison. PS, the pre sets on both cameras are great. It’s in camera editing I have an issues with. What’s the point when you are working with such a small screen? It all can be done in post. If Ricoh did away with that, the extra electronics, surly it could be redesigned with weather sealing. Something many Ricoh users are crying out for. Having said all this, thanks for the video.
Bought a GRii a few years ago and returned next day. Felt uninspiring to hold, ergonomics and build quality just weren't there for me. Too many stories of dust ingress issues also for my liking and can't believe they haven't rectified.... it's hardly a budget point and shoot. I had a Nikon D600 many moons ago and that had issues with the oil getting on the mirror and was well documented and remedied. Also a rear dial apparently 'likes' to come loose also, but there is a way to use a 'work around'..... ??? Really....... the idea is great and I've seen some great work coming from them and love the descrete size etc but sort out the issues already! My go to alternative when I go small is the X70 🫶
You brought up some valid points! The Ricoh may not be the most beauty camera design wise or ergonomic but that size is unbeatable. There is a rumor of a new Ricoh coming soon. Maybe it will have weather dealing and things you mentioned? I hope so!
Tried both and strongly disagree , ricoh was super boring after the first shot. X100 series is totally a different feeling and different experience. I would take a random x100 towards any digital ricoh gr.
Totally ok! Fuji is awesome. The RICOH for me is more about the size and how pocketable it is. Hate to hear that you found it boring but glad you found out soon though!
Macro is pretty crappy on this camera … maybe just for fun but nothing serious can’t expect from this camera … also the video is worse than on a mid-budget phone.. it’s just for photos
I think you hit the nail on it. It's great for fun. I wouldn't use it for professional work, but I would use it for travel or like a food page on IG. As for video. I totally forgot about that feature and haven't even tried it 😂

Yup!! That is what truly makes the camera even greater. The size!!! I bet that X is fun since it has different ranges.
Nice concise summary.
Thanks for watching! 🙏🏼
Price?? And where to find????
It's linked in my description but you can also find it on Adoramas or BH. It runs slightly above 1k usd.
“it doesn’t attract a lot of attention” but has a big orange circle in the front 👀
Camera is super small and the yellow ring can actually be changed out to different colors. 🙏🏼
Owned both, and the griiix, and the fuji x100v is waaaaay better. Still love me some ricoh though.

its 1 grand everywhere tho. this is halfway there it terms of being overhyped by people. prices climbing
That is definitely unfortunate. The x100v prices skyrocketted a ton.

i think the new iphone is much better value.
Phones are alright but they do way too much processing behind the scenes. I prefer an actual camera.
Just the fact that x100v has the leaf shutter is to me way better than the Ricoh and other things too.
This has a leaf shutter too.
The x100v is a phenomenal camera. The Ricoh has a leaf shutter too.

No flash, No EVF, no macro, horrible battery, QC issues. Yeah no thanks
It sounds like you're wanting a pro camera and not something fun and pocketable lol. Totally different things.
No it is not!
