Someone please tell Dylan that reason the finale is weird is because it’s a parody of the 1938 play Our Town by Thornton Wilder lol (Jughead is the narrator and Betty is Emily). In the final act of Our Town, Emily has just passed away and she asks the narrator to take her back one last time to the town. Some of the Riverdale dialogue is the exact same or very similar to Our Town. I played Emily in my high school’s performance and I this was all too familiar 😂
I mean. The same thing basically happened with the original comics. LMAO. They didn't know who to put Archie with so they just kinda did both and made it a time warp.
Not only the fact that he’s proven the show is better if you just watch the first couple episodes and the last one or two, but the CONSTANT references to a poly relationship look like something that they actually led to instead of a “fuck it, why not” mention
I've watched the entire show, start to finish. I hadn't caught up on the final season until I saw you post this... and then I binged it. God, that last episode actually made me cry. The final season might have been my favourite because it was balls to the walls and held no prisoners, and that ending was just such a loving send off. But I'll never let go of Archie fighting a bear while running away from juvie. God, what a show.
I love how Dylan is like freaking out the one mention of the serial killer. 😂 Dylan, the whole show had crazy serial killers, like every season. It became so unhinged I just continued watching it till the end. This is why I loved Riverdale I believe. It was a cool reaction video. ☺️
I think this is the rare case where you can enjoy the last episode more if you haven't seen the road to it. Because you will assume that things you don't fully understand had some plausible explanation before, that a string of events that somewhat follows cause and effect led there. And with most shows you would be right to assume that because that is how capable writers build their stories. But this is Riverdale.
idk what the writers were aiming for but if they were aiming for the craziest wildest most absurd show in history then they absolutely nailed it gotta give them that💀

I wonder how girlie is feeling. Probably extremely powerful, I know I would.
@@alexiskingston1680 to answer your question, I'm going to say no, but I'm also not poly so who am I to say. I think my friends paper was more so to do with queer theory and how queer visibility in media, going back all the way to the Hays Code and before, had to read different from heterosexuality in order to make it past censorship but that didn't mean it wasn't present in media. A real "the closet is glass" situation. I think she made the argument that the original comics were subtextually about a polycule, and so in it's Riverdale format it still keeps much of that subtext.
My favorite part was you discovering that marbles is a game lol. The smaller balls are arranged in a pile and the larger ball is used to hit the pile in an attempt to knock some out. Like billards but without the table and no need for a pool cue.
So much happened between Season 1 and Season 7 that people who actually stuck with it don’t know wtf happened so this is truly jumping into the deep end with sharks who have the serial killer gene

you missed the school dealing with a drug called jingle jangle, a plantation healing cult with like maybe witches or maybe it's just hallucinations, a crossover with the Sabrina the Teenage Witch reboot, them all getting superpowers from an explosion, Jughead exploring the multiverse almost completely on accident, Archie getting mauled by a bear, dopplegangers of Reggie facing off in a duel, Cheryl becoming the fucking Phoenix from X-men, them all time-traveling back to the 50s to reset the multiverse, a separate universe where witchcraft is real (keep in mind, this is technically separate from the original universe) that half a season takes place in, Betty having like a Dark alter ego that's somehow connected to the fact she's genetically predisposed to be a serial killer, a Mind controlling british dude with almost no clear motivations at all, a five year time jump to account for the actors aging (despite the fact that due to time travel, they're all in high school again in the final season), the showrunners not wanting to show the Archie/Jughead kiss in the polycule reveal during the finale cause "that would be too hot for tv", a tickle fetish movie making subplot, canonical gaurdian angels, and that one episode where Betty had a nest of spiders growing in her hair. to say you missed a lot would be an understatement
I started watching this show when I was in the 6th grade. Now, I'm in 11th. I'm sitting here sobbing because of how much time has passed and THIS is the ending they presented us.
I liked the ending! The og timeline ends in season 6, and season 7 is more of a “you guys wanted a teen romance and characters that can be happy without lifetimes of trauma being dumped on them on a byweekly basis?”It’s not perfect, but the characters get a nice, calm and happy senior year and sendoff.
@@dpgwalter yes! but at the same time, i had no idea what was going on- the timeline was so confusing for me 😭 i feel like riverdale just morphed into a teen version of the twilight zone. i agree that the characters needed something like that but i just can’t envision half the shit that went on. but this is just me- i’m still trying to hold onto the 2019 riverdale. 🤷🏼♀️

Lmao for anyone confused, Jughead's girlfriend is an angel, shes able to time travel, she sent Riverdale back to the 40s to fix the present timeline (or something, idk) because everyone got powers, Cheryl became a witch, put a curse on Riverdale and some other stuff 🤷🏾♀️ also Veronica somehow owned a bar/strip club while being a teenager. Betty's dad is a serial killer with "serial killer genes" Betty's mom and sister joined a religious cult that set up in an insane asylum, ran by a dude who made his own rocket to go to the moon. Edited after: when everyone had superpowers, Archie had super strength and stopped a meteor with his abs 👍🏾 I think.
Let's not forget that that religious cult harvested organs, the rocket was built for Betty's college found money and her mum joined the cult because her son with Jughead's dad (who she gave up for adoption) was an FBI agent and asked her to do so. Said brother was also a serial killer. Also Archie boxed a bear. This trully was a show of all time
I have never watched Riverdale, but the first episode and last episode reminds me so much of "Our Town," a play written by Thornton Wilder, mainly the 1 Act and 3rd Act. The last episode especially gives me "Our Town" last/3rd Act vibes, because the main character in the play is dead (there is a time jump between the 2nd and 3rd Act) and the narrator (of the play) takes her back to a favorite memory and then the ghost from the other people in town take about what happened to them and their families and the narrator talks about how the town has changed/has changed.
I have to say, I love watching Dylan have a mental breakdown because of Riverdale. but I wish he knew about all the other UNHINGED things that went on in previous seasons that are not mentioned in this last episode. Like the Mothman, Cheryl being a literal bootleg Scarlet Witch, the organ-harvesting cult, Betty's dad being a serial killer, the bootleg DND game that actually ends up in a weird demon killer. that would be so fun to watch hahaha

I believe Riverdale creators just have 2 dartboards, one with the names of the characters, one with the most fever dream wacky scenarios and they just play darts every time they brainstorm a new story line
I love what they did with fangs in the end! I think a lot of non music lovers miss that his character/death are inspired by Ritchie Valens who died in a plane crash along with a bunch of other musicians like Buddy Holly. Riverdale was bad in so many ways but I always loved the movie/music references they would use.
Honestly I’d love to get an extended version of this video where Dylan watch the last ep of every season so he can experience at least some of the craziness we had to endure😂
i was hoping for that too!! like every season premiere, mid season finale and season finale, that would make it 18-20 episodes in total. basically 1 season lol
I loved the first couple seasons of Riverdale, but then it got really weird when they started to add in magic and random musicals... So I stopped watching it😭
I agree was still weird but the magic is atleast understandable since riverdale is set in the same universe as sabrina. Imo the way they set up the two shows tho they should of just left it with references rather than full on cross overs
I watched every episode and I couldn’t explain it if I tried. It’s a wild ride, to be sure. I was waiting for Dylan to do this since the finale aired. Off the rails is an accurate way to sum this show up. The finale was actually really good .
The magic makes sense because Riverdale is along side Greendale and set in the same universe as Sabrina the teenage witch that's why there were crossovers between the two.
I burst out laughing at the "67 years have gone by" and had the exact same expression as Dylan because whAT THE FUCK that caught me so off guard, even when I was bracing myself to watch the finale while out of the loop 😭😭
this is such an interesting point of view from oe of the rare people that Adores riverdale. i'm glad you enjoyed the finale! riverdale's storyline is very central to time bending and parallel universes in the later seasons, if youre interested in watching another truly crazy episode i highly recommend episode 100 (the jughead paradox) it is Insane and honestly one of my favourite episodes of tv. in my opinion the more insane riverdale gets, the better it is and there are also many interesting meta narratives throughout the show about the dangers of capitalism & gentrification, and also about these teenagers being stuck in the neverending cycle of highschool and being intrinsically tied to their hometown even continuing into the afterlife. this show is so batshit insane you can never predict an episode and i love it so much
One last thing to add, the finale of Riverdale is more or less taking inspiration from the 1938 Thorton Wilder play "Our Town", specifically Act 3 of that play--where the female protagonist of that play on her deathbed gets the opportunity to re-live any one day of her life with a supernatural tour guide by way of New England stage manager accompanying her as she does. The series outright prepares you for such an ending by name-dropping Our Town a few times in Season 7. So it's actively invoking the reference. And it's not the first time they do that with a season (name drop inspirations for the season they're writing--the problem is that often they don't do well taking inspiration from those influences... this is one of the cases where they did actually rather well).
My experience huh? Ok. Started watching because my cousin bullied me to. I loved it. Seasons 1&2 were just amazing, 15 year old me absolutely LOVED everything about it. Then season 3 started getting a little sus but nevertheless, I made it till season 5. Ever since it aired, I have not been able to get through episode 15 (or something like that). But like physically. I am not kidding. But still followed everything through Instagram. Until today. I got home from work and happened to stumble upon this masterpiece of a video. I think what I loved most about this was that I got to know how the show ended without actually having to put myself through the unhingedness of it. So thanks I guess
a lot of people were disappointed with the finale because betty and archie were originally engaged in the present timeline, but then they sent them back in time, erased all their memories and they never mentioned it again. only for them to not end up together. it was incredibly disappointing and frustrating season. the finale wasn’t even saying goodbye to the real versions of themselves.
i really liked jughead and betty together. I stopped watching halfway season 4. But I understand that people who were rooting for archie and betty were frustrated at that. I would be too
i loved the finale! they got their memories back and even said they remembered how it was to be with each other and that's why they decided to do the poly thing. I think the finale was great because the relationships did get addressed but at the same time it showed how life expands past your highschool sweethearts, while still giving them very emotional and meaningful scenes.
honestly it's sad that we won't see dylan react to betty's cult, The epic highs and lows of high school football, archie fighting a bear (and winning), floating babies, The many, many musical numbers, endless amount of twins/siblings of everyone in the show, everyone getting superpowers?, all the rituals and sacrifices, cheryl stopping a comet from destroying the world....
I was so busy lately and couldn’t enjoys Dylan’s masterpieces and I’m so happy I now have time to watch this episode 🎉 7 minutes in and my mood is way up there ✨
In show finales you can almost always feel the sadness of the ending so poignantly because the actors' sadness about leaving this chapter of their life behind bleeds into their performance. That was a lot of tears- I thought the cast of Riverdale famously hated the show. Maybe they're trauma bonded and it's really just sadness about being separated from each other.
I mean Cole just seemed checked out. Granted Jughead rarely showed emotion. But Lili was amazing. I think she genuinely saw the good and bad times and knew she was gonna miss it. I think also, working on set wasn't bad, it was just the dumb scripts. And it's kinda like graduating high school. You might not have enjoyed it, but it's still a sad moment.
It reminded me about the ending parts of Desperate Housewives too, where they left Wisteria Lane one after another and never came together as a group ever again.
The irony that this show wasn't cancelled. They decided season 7 was the last, and wrote it in mind. Arguably was one of the top 3 seasons of the series imo.
The actors had contracts to seven seasons and I think such a high percentage of the actors refused to agree to any more seasons or even episodes so they had to end.
Just yesterday I was cracking up at "This story is about a town, a small town, and the people who live in the town." 1:35 And today, one of my students' essay wrote, "Once upon a time, in a small town named Sunny Town, lived a small family."
At 8:30-something, making the marbles joke; Love It! On a side note, I and my brothers used to have marbles. We really just kept the ones we found were pretty. They don't have to be used for games, they can just sit there and look pretty. Similar to how witches or others keep crystals around for healing and vibes and stuff.
there's genuinely nothing funnier than the fact that fans were at eachother's throats for 7 seasons over which couples end up together only for the writers to be like 'fuck it all of them are together, all four. live with it.'
And then then immediately “as soon as they graduate none of them hear from each other again.” Off their rocker.
They wanted to neither have, nor eat their cake with putting them all together and then immediately telling us they wouldn’t ever see each other after highschool.

I mean. The same thing basically happened with the original comics. LMAO. They didn't know who to put Archie with so they just kinda did both and made it a time warp.
Dylan has aged like fine wine. Aged into a wonderful 23 year old.
And most of us has seen him grow into a wonderfully funny 23 year old😌

Not only the fact that he’s proven the show is better if you just watch the first couple episodes and the last one or two, but the CONSTANT references to a poly relationship look like something that they actually led to instead of a “fuck it, why not” mention
that first episode is so nostalgic now😭
Dylans fear of incest after 17 again is hilarious😂

@@leoray4936 Almost the entire second or first season was his serial killer arc
@@Tokoyami-eh3sgthey asked who did he kill lol I would reply but I haven’t watched it in years so I forgot
Gosh, I remember being so happy that they brought back Joaquin just to show him being involved with that g&g shit and dying.🥲
I always think of Chad Michael Murray and his rocket he built in the cult he started 🥲
But this is Riverdale.
idk what the writers were aiming for but if they were aiming for the craziest wildest most absurd show in history then they absolutely nailed it gotta give them that💀
i've never watched the show but this comment is hilarious
I would just love for someone to write a full timeline of the show so I can be even more confused
Y'all should watch Alex Myers's reactions to tho whole thing.
@@RandomSwiftie13 indeed. If you just want to know how batshit crazy the show went and have a laugh at it without investing the time to actually watch all that garbage, then Alex got you covered.
I knew a girl in high school who wrote her AP Capstone project on Riverdale. When I asked her to explain her topic to me she said, "I'm going to sound insane, but I'm right." She then started talking about how Riverdale was really about a polycule and all these things I don't remember, but when I heard about how the show ended, I could do nothing but think about her. I wonder how girlie is feeling. Probably extremely powerful, I know I would.
her mind
Someone in my grad program wrote a paper on Riverdale, no idea what it's about. Her thesis was on Twilight.
wait, so when the "popular" groups at school that are lowkey all friends date each others ex's is that a polycule???
I personally feel like Dylan really really really REALLY should do a first and last of Superstore. Its so perfect for this type of content!
So much happened between Season 1 and Season 7 that people who actually stuck with it don’t know wtf happened so this is truly jumping into the deep end with sharks who have the serial killer gene
Yeah, no shit. I watched through 5 seasons and I'm way more confused than Dylan, I guess
Me who watched all 7 seasons and I’m still confused after season 4💀💀
Not the serial killer gene XD
SERIAL KILLER GENE😭😭😭
Dylan doing a side by side of himself from years ago to now is living proof that facial hair and hair style on a man can take him from a 5/10 to a 10/10.
umm Dylan has always been a 10
He’s definitely never been a 5
he went from 10 to 10 but in a different way
Now that's a backhanded compliment!

Funny how you didn’t catch Cheryl’s brothers name change and he came back to life a different person 😂😂😂
the silence after he find out Cheryl kept jason's body in a cellar.... yeah it was a dark time for our girl😭💀
I love that Dylan doesn’t know what happened in between the first and last episode. Like is you JUST watched this, this seems like a semi normal show. Like I think it would be so funny to have Dylan read a summary of what happens in between, bro would be confused as hell.
no bc literally the show was so good in the beginning and went probably the worst way ever in film history. Like we get shitty last seasons, Riverdale just gave an amazing start and shit everything else. But literally watching the start and the end it felt so normal and made more sense then everything in between lol. Kind of made me want to watch it
He can just watch Friendly space Ninja lose his mind about all of this for a collective 3 hours and aomething
This is so funny actually. Perfect show to do this. Almost wished he would do first and last of each season bc is equally if not more confusing lol
That would be HILARIOUS because it would be SO MUCH more confusing 🤣
you missed the school dealing with a drug called jingle jangle, a plantation healing cult with like maybe witches or maybe it's just hallucinations, a crossover with the Sabrina the Teenage Witch reboot, them all getting superpowers from an explosion, Jughead exploring the multiverse almost completely on accident, Archie getting mauled by a bear, dopplegangers of Reggie facing off in a duel, Cheryl becoming the fucking Phoenix from X-men, them all time-traveling back to the 50s to reset the multiverse, a separate universe where witchcraft is real (keep in mind, this is technically separate from the original universe) that half a season takes place in, Betty having like a Dark alter ego that's somehow connected to the fact she's genetically predisposed to be a serial killer, a Mind controlling british dude with almost no clear motivations at all, a five year time jump to account for the actors aging (despite the fact that due to time travel, they're all in high school again in the final season), the showrunners not wanting to show the Archie/Jughead kiss in the polycule reveal during the finale cause "that would be too hot for tv", a tickle fetish movie making subplot, canonical gaurdian angels, and that one episode where Betty had a nest of spiders growing in her hair.
to say you missed a lot would be an understatement
…what is this show???
I stopped after season 3-4 and I’m so damn lost omg.. is it worth watching the rest though?
I started watching this show when I was in the 6th grade. Now, I'm in 11th. I'm sitting here sobbing because of how much time has passed and THIS is the ending they presented us.

@@jessicamaria1929 same bro, same. its absolutely crazy. like this show was our life. it started when we were kinda young and now its gone. 5 years!
Same but honestly the ending had me emotional ngl its really good
dylan BASICALLY predicting the poly relationship drop 9 minutes in genuinely had me up and pacing
Basically what you missed is, the shenanigans ended with cheryl turned discount scarlet witch and the apocalypse in season 6. Then in season 7 all the characters got magically transported to the fifties, and the last season was a mostly chill teen drama, in the fifties.

That doesn't really clear anything up for me but thanks
@@crispyfry4417you're welcome 🤣
Let's not forget that that religious cult harvested organs, the rocket was built for Betty's college found money and her mum joined the cult because her son with Jughead's dad (who she gave up for adoption) was an FBI agent and asked her to do so. Said brother was also a serial killer. Also Archie boxed a bear. This trully was a show of all time

I love how the finale encapsulates like 1% of the total chaos that went down in this series lmao
HONESTLY im lowkey sad its over it kept me entertained for like five years😭
2:03 You were technically 50% correct about them being incestuous since Jason and Polly had children together and they are 3rd cousins
Someone on the comments said the last ep is a reference with some direct quotes
I have to say, I love watching Dylan have a mental breakdown because of Riverdale. but I wish he knew about all the other UNHINGED things that went on in previous seasons that are not mentioned in this last episode. Like the Mothman, Cheryl being a literal bootleg Scarlet Witch, the organ-harvesting cult, Betty's dad being a serial killer, the bootleg DND game that actually ends up in a weird demon killer. that would be so fun to watch hahaha
As someone who knows nothing about Riverdale, this has almost convinced me to watch the series. That sounds so wild lol
@jessegonzalez9177 it's not as fun as it sounds haha.

Okay this is from the fairbairn films video
The way he was saying 'affair' repeatedly almost killed me 😭
I love what they did with fangs in the end! Riverdale was bad in so many ways but I always loved the movie/music references they would use.
27:03 Dylan replying "Thanks man" to Jughead's "have a good night" was so cute

Honestly I’d love to get an extended version of this video where Dylan watch the last ep of every season so he can experience at least some of the craziness we had to endure😂
I thought about that as well! There need to be a middle ground to try and convey this insanity that was that show!
i was hoping for that too!! like every season premiere, mid season finale and season finale, that would make it 18-20 episodes in total. basically 1 season lol

The fact that he clocked Betty's dad being a murderer in 2 seconds is so funny
I genuinely burst out laughing when Dylan pulled out the marbles again. He's really making the most of those 7 dollars 😭😭
Literally same!
Dylan your videos always cheer me up!!!🎉
a lot of people were disappointed with the finale because betty and archie were originally engaged in the present timeline, but then they sent them back in time, erased all their memories and they never mentioned it again. only for them to not end up together. it was incredibly disappointing and frustrating season. the finale wasn’t even saying goodbye to the real versions of themselves.
i really liked jughead and betty together.
What the heck? xD
Going back in time? What show did this end up being? xD
Um, what? lol
That poly thing was a cheap cop out 😒
honestly it's sad that we won't see dylan react to betty's cult, The epic highs and lows of high school football, archie fighting a bear (and winning), floating babies, The many, many musical numbers, endless amount of twins/siblings of everyone in the show, everyone getting superpowers?, all the rituals and sacrifices, cheryl stopping a comet from destroying the world....
A comet…? 😂 what the actual fuhhh 😂
Don’t forget jugheads girlfriend being able to time travel and her trying to save the multiverse 😂

Not the trauma bonding jsjsjs but yeah like they seem to actually be kinda close so makes sense :((
they all hated the show but loved each other
I mean Cole just seemed checked out.
I think they do the the show but love the people with it.
Dylan screaming "affair, affair!" over and over for many minutes straight is not something I expected to hear today

Watching dylan constantly try to get his moneys worth by making callbacks to the marbles has given me the urge to buy marbles too
The irony that this show wasn't cancelled. They decided season 7 was the last, and wrote it in mind. Arguably was one of the top 3 seasons of the series imo.
The actors had contracts to seven seasons and I think such a high percentage of the actors refused to agree to any more seasons or even episodes so they had to end.
This is the best one I have ever watched. SO MUCH happens in between. It is WILD. This was so much chaos and so much fun to watch.
Just yesterday I was cracking up at "This story is about a town, a small town, and the people who live in the town." 1:35
And today, one of my students' essay wrote, "Once upon a time, in a small town named Sunny Town, lived a small family."
Dylan catching that Mr Cooper was a murderer literally the second he saw him gave me literal chills.
Dylan. Who are you.
Dylan’s face when he made the joke about the actor being 30 and saying you can’t lie about your age that much dawg 😂😂😂😂
Honestly, I was waiting for this one to come out
