    Why did he feel sad seeing palm oil plantations? Did he expect we cook using olive oil all the time? I swear these mat salehs are so judging thinking they are always right every time.

    • @IndoWild
      @IndoWild  4 місяці тому +2

      Is this a serious comment? You should really aducage yourself. Palm oil is not that common for cooking. Normally you use canola or vegetable oil in Indonesia. Palm oil is mainly exported. It’s very sad to see the destruction of forests in any location around the world. There are many alternatives to palm oil. Olive oil is not a suitable alternative but there are many others and it’s a global problem since most of the palm oil is exported. I don’t understand how the words “I am sad to see” are in your eyes “judging” - I have pinned this comment Becuase I want others to comment too.

    In 2019 we visited Mamasa. The driver didn't took this road from Mamasa to Toraja due to rainfall the roads were terrible. We drove back to Enrekang, and then to Rantepao.

    • @elisabethsule7073
      @elisabethsule7073 9 місяців тому

    • @wawanhariawan6934
      @wawanhariawan6934 5 місяців тому +1

      The road to Toraja on the Mamasa route has now started to be repaired and has reached 40% asphalting. There is still a lot of mountain dredging around the valley in the Pasapa area so now The road will be really very muddy and slippery. But the hope of Mamasa people who want to go to Toraja is that the road repairs are expected to be 100% complete in the next 2 years because The geographical location of the work is very steep and narrow, so it will take a lot of time and energy

    In rural areas, good road means not muddy or not having a lot of potholes or no big stones. This means the bike can pass through much easily during dry sunny season than wet rainy season. You can stop whereever there is a flat ground on the road side. Motorcycles are cheap and easy transportation for rural people. It seems a 4x4 vehicles can easily go there. A car might can go during the dry season.

The government has a lot work to do to improve the transportation access meanwhile it's such a huge different here in South Sulawesi, even small villages are mostly accessible by decent roads.

    Sam, I admire and appreciate your dedication to understanding local culture and customs through the perspective of good photography. and also your hard work in handling a heavy and fully loaded 500cc motorbike on a bad road. can't wait for your next story in Toraja..
