Great Review and this watch looks really cool. I own and have seen the srew down pushers which are really good for stability, water resistance and looks. Does take some time to unscrew but hey who uses them to time things in a hurry. I doubt any pilot has timed anything in the air for decades 🤔 😀
I agree that the knurled things would be a pain to deal with every time you wanted to time something. I think I have seen a chrono lately where it appears that you can operate the pushers without unscrewing. But it's a great looking watch and a lot for the money. I have four solar powered so I'm really into that. thanks for the good review.
Harding again- The screw-down crowns might look cool, but the answer to this is this: You have pushers WITHOUT screw downs to operate the chrono and then you warn the owners never to operate the pushers underwater. How many of us are timing things underwater a lot? Maybe Navy Seals blowing things up. With this watch, one could leave them unscrewed most of the time to time stuff out of the water, like around the house. Apparently they can't fall off while unscrewed. I take a med, wait one hour, take more, wait 30 min., then I can eat breakfast. I use a Casio SGW-100 for that and it is great. Has a 24 hour countdown timer. Cost maybe $40 and batt lasts ~six years.
I like the watch. Im glad they are making watches now with solar movements. The only thing that puts me off is the thickness. I wish they would shave it down to 10mm. It really doesnt need to be 12mm. I'm hoping they produce something similar to the timex expedition 36mm solar but in a 38mm with a 46mm lug to lug and 10mm depth with 20mm lug to lug, that would be spot on for me.
Like the dual lume, and especially the lume on the sub dial hands. I wish they'd put a pip of lume on the back end of the sweep seconds hand too so you could see that too (which they could do without changing the shape of the hand or cluttering the look), Maybe the date window would benefit from a white printed outline around it? but generally looks really good.
Screw-down chrono pushers would be a deal breaker in the cockpit. The #1 thing I wanted a stopwatch for is to start a timer during emergencies (like when a caution light comes on). No time to fiddle with with this type of mechanism.
This is a really nice piece, especially at that price. I've seen these type of screw-down pushers on other Chronographs, recent Tudors spring to mind. What do you about adding a cyclops, Mike? I'm not usually a fan of them, but it might help the legibility of the date without cluttering the dial up.
Love your shout about the left handed wearers and the slanted dial watches not being wearable for us! Interesting watch this just when you think you’ve seen it all in these watches they come with something that really calls to me. I like automatics and I’ve tried a mechaquartz chronograph from pagani design and it was missing something for me. Also I think I love the screwed pushers - waterproofing utility and fantastic tactility, for the lest be honest occasional actual chronograph operation :-)
You haven’t seen many watches if you’ve not seen screw down pushes, lots of watches have this design. This is a nice watch though, I might be tempted 👍
Well I’ve handled a lot of watches especially for repair and own quite a few chronos too. Just not seen chrono with screw down pushers, crown yes. I find it pointless. Granted it gives waterproofing but as this is a pilots watch the whole design is about being in the sky and not in the water . I would not even consider swimming with this especially with a leather strap. Whole idea of a chrono is to time stuff and personally think that unscrewing them is impractical and requires taking the the watch off.
And a Seiko pogue in the background, too! Must get mine serviced some time! - I have four solar watches already, by different manufacturers, and the only one that has needed a new battery in ten years, is the dead cheap plastic one made by a Chinese?? company identified as SKMEI (I think from Ali) - that lasted 5. The case-back is held on by four tiny screws. When I'm not wearing them, I leave them in window, so they can enjoy the (ha!) sunshine!
Thank you, Just Ordered one, which works out to £116.41p Cheers. I did 22 years in the army and had the G10 for men watch but the battery leaked and ruined it :( so this will make a great replacement :)
Well yes but it’s still a bit silly in my opinion. You would not typically swim with a pilot / chronograph and by making them screw down it’s not like you can time something in a hurry or whilst in the wrist.
@mywatchreviews lol how many people swim with skim diver's? I have.nt seen an analogue or metal case watch at the beach or swimming baths for 15 years.
@pippo-1073 I own this fantastic watch, one of my best buys of the year. The glass is one of the best I've seen. No one uses the chronograph, almost everyone has a smartphone.
To those complaining about the screw-down pushers... you just leave them unscrewed, right? How is this 'worse' than pushers that don't screw down and can't go in the water?
Not all though. I have 4 that’s don’t, two Straton , one Baltany actually also. The Longines heritage homage I reviewed a while back. They seem to always have the minute recording subdial and a 24 hour sub (unless feature!)
Well yes it’s kind of obvious now however I still think it’s impractical and besides you don’t see a chronograph on watches for water. As a pilots watch it should be as far away from water as you can get 😂😂
@@mywatchreviews Agreed, 100m of water resistance is incongruous with the "pilot watch" theme -- unless you're a Navy pilot. ;) But your point is well taken.
I really hate you sometimes Mike! Just ehen i thought it was safe to watch one of your review videos because ive got everything I want for now, you throw a curveball at me. Edit: which I've now just ordered. By the way, the expensive Swiss chronographs (Daytona etc) have locking pushers. They're also useful for timing long durations. You can't accidentally stop the timing if you lock it again after starting. Next video, you should do the 100k Trump Tourbillon 😉
LOL,what is going on in this comment section!?😂 -screw-down pushers and crown are for better water resistance - obviously, if you're in a cockpit of an plane there's no need for water resistance and you can leave them unscrewed
This is my issue with them. from a practical sense there is no point in having a chronograph with screwdown pushers. I dont care what brand it is. It just makes it far more impractical as a complication . Watches dont need screw down everything to be water tight for 100m or less this can be achieved by good gaskets and precise pusher and crown tubes. World has gone mad for screw down crowns for instance, most watches will never see water and the 100s of vintage watches I have serviced none have this feature and all are still running fine 30-60 years later.
@@mywatchreviews i get your point about most watches not seeing water, also most owners use the stopwatch complication 10 times after they just bought the watch, for fun, and never again I on the other hand live on the coast and work at the beach renting kayaks and boats, I'm constantly in salty water.....but yeah, Citizen makes 200m WR watches with push-pull crowns (also,Baltany has some 6-7 variations of this flieger chrono, some with screw crown some without, some quartz some solar, some with A-dial some w B-dial..... )
Another winner by Baltany. Thanks for the thorough review and taking the back off and showing us how the movement works. That Pogue is stunning!

Thanks for showing us this watch. I love this one. Been thinking about pulling the trigger myself, now I think I will!
I have one , these are good watches .
Solar too , nice .

Vaer makes a chrono with pushers that look like these, but they don’t unscrew. I’d rather go with that option.

I really like the two eye layout!
Very nice watch although I'm afraid it's not for me, I tend not to wear watches with complications I will never use.
Yet another great review Mike👍
Baltany make excellent watches 👍👌🍸
I have to agree!

We just had an episode of Wilty here in Australia that scored me some kudos with the family. You know the one 😏
I sure do! They just re shown it here last week. I should. Post up a link !
Are the two sub dials the solar panels?

Skrew down pushers because of the 100m water proofing

I'm sure the pusher screw-downs are for water resistance. :) Hard to do 100M with just rubber washers.

The second hand and the small extra, second hand, show different times, very irritating :)
