Mom kills twin sons, North Carolina Sheriff says

  • A Murphy woman has been charged with first degree murder in the death of her twin 4-year-old sons, Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said late Sunday night, March 3.
    Genevieve Ellen Springer, 44, was taken into custody Sunday, March 3, by the sheriff's office at around 3:46 p.m. She was not given the option for bond.
    According to officials, the sheriff's office and Cherokee County Emergency Services responded to a 911 call at 75 Gooseberry Road in Murphy on Saturday, March 2. The caller was a Cherokee County father who arrived at the home of his separated wife to exercise custody of his 4-year-old twin sons around 10 a.m. that day.
