I wrote my thesis on this disputation back in University. I cannot help but feel that King James, had he allowed the debate to continue, the King would've converted to Judaism. I think he was more fearful of that than riots amongst the people.
This is a very important video and I would encourage everyone interested in the history of the church and Israel since Vatican 2 to see it. Rabbi, what then should be our stance regarding public debate. What about videos that invite Christian pastors and Rabbi's to debate? I can see the danger of the open forum of debate in Synagogues and churches, but what about the effort to enlighten those in the Christian world to the truths of Judaism? Where should our effort be to protect ourselves from the influence that comes by association? Thank you for this very important work!
I recommend the excellent dramatization of this event which was beautifully done. Christopher Lee brought great perceptive nuance to his portrayal of King James as did the other participants in their roles.
Very interesting, thank you. I'm a South African (68 years old) who has come to understand and believe, despite my christian indoctrination, that not only Jesus, but the whole so called "New Testament" is a fable, false doctrine. Even though I became Torah observant some 7 years ago I still believed Jesus, or YaHUShA as I now called him, was the messiah. How utterly was I deceived :-( I will never return to this false religion and their profane doctrines. I am currently an outcast, removed from whatsapp groups where the Torah (mixed with NT) is taught (which I would have left on my own anyway) and people have been forbidden contact with me. My last question on a group was about the genealogy of Jesus and I showed the error of NT writings in this regard. The irony was that after I had been removed, Jesus genealogy was "proved" using only NT. I have learned a lot from Rabbi Michael Skobac's dvd's although I believe only the Tanakh, not the Talmud. Thank you.
In the talmud, (forgive me I forgot where) Hillel (the younger?) is asked about the messiah and he said that he had already came. When asked who he was he said Hezekia. Another Rabbis said it was Joash. When asked about the redemption (geula) he said that will come from G-d. I often wondered why that was not in the disputation (maybe it was?) point is Judaism does not concern itself about messiah, it is open to debate. What is not in debate is that the messiah will be a man born of a woman and nothing more.
loved it except "unloosed" means "tightened." As a cradle Catholic, was not too fond of Vatican II either. And now...well I don't believe either of you. But I am still a student o the whole thing and this was very well done. I use it all to prove none of it is true.
It would have been better without the needless non-Orthodox bashing at the beginning. It wasn’t necessary to alienate huge swaths of Jews that could have learned something from this video.

Well done! I wish I could have been a fly on the wall during that debate :)

no interfaith dialogue . It is a waste of time and church effort to convert us.
Ramban made rule no more debates with xtian.
R' Hillel says there will be no messiah for the Jewish people because they already enjoyed the messianic era in the days of Hizkiyahu Sanhedrein 99A
