That’s too much to spend on hair products when I can go to Target and find some good stuff. I’m a new subbie and has finally learned to shop for curly hair products because of you. Hoping to really start loving my hair.
If you are first starting out I recommend garnier fructis pure clean conditioner and garnier fructis curl nourish shampoo and as a styler you can use cantu I personally like the curl activator but whichever is best for you. If you are looking for a cheap deep conditioner I recommend Cantu's deep treatment masque. Everything should cost at least $15-$20 everything is silicone sulfate and paraben free.

I mean - My conditioner ocsts about 2 euros is curly girl approved ( Based on informations from isitcg.com ) has good incredients (based on a site called skin safety angel in German ) AND is certified nature cosmetics :D So ..... it could be much less than 15 dollar

The product gets better the more you use it. I am 4c, low porosity, dry, hard to manage hair. The first time I tried Prose I was NOT impressed. No slip, didn't feel like it moisturized my hair, manageability was meh. Just all bad. Especially since I was using 4c Only and it was working great on my hair. But I spent toooo much money on Prose to throw it out so I decided to keep using it, and babyyyyyy lemme tell you. My hair gets better with every wash. My coils are popping, hydrated, and shiny. My wash and go lasts a week. I will admit, there isn't any slip with the product, but since my hair is getting healthier i don't need slip. It detangles easily now as long as it's moisturized. It's weird it takes time to work, but I really think it's evidence that it's healing my hair from the inside out. Also my scalp is healthier too. It doesn't itch or flake, so I forget to oil it sometimes. I'm shedding less as well. Prose customer service is suburb btw. If you don't like it, I'm sure they'll refund you the $ cuz their customer service is really that legit. I think it's worth a try.
That’s how I feel about Devacurl. If I’m gonna spend that amount it better be AMAZING. But surprisingly devacurl doesn’t work for me, so I’m like nah. Maui Moisture works great for me (I know it’s not that popular in the curly world) but it works best for my hair so far. My hair is very low porosity & it’s the only thing so far that my hair strands absorb.
I have wavy hair and I don't get any slip from DevaCurl products either (but I love some of their styling products/masks) I love Not Your Mother's Naturals.
I love the deva curl melt into moisture mask and the styling cream, frizz free volumizing foam but that’s it. I absolutely love Maui moisture shampoo, conditioners, and masks but not their styling products.

Totally agree. Deva curl doesn't give me wow results. And is hella expensive. I'm a Shea moisture gurl myself 💁🏽♀️

Sheesh! That's expensive for a 'customized' product that doesn't really work well. I was a bit shocked that even devacurl is cheaper with more product and it's considered 'high end' lol. That sucks tho, would have been great if it worked.
ive been using prose for 6 months and it literally transformed my hair. it’s never been this thick, healthy, and smooth in my life. don’t base a whole company off one persons reciew
I tried it and loved it! The shampoo clarifies and really cleanses and the conditioner has amazing slip for me. Just a little bit makes it easy to detangle. I have 3C/4C hair and it works for me! They do give you the option of customizing your products again, asking you what you liked and what would you change.
I added the silicone when I checked out cause they said are you sure!?! I was like oh maybe I want silicone. Used it for the first time today and worked great. Lots of slip in the conditioner. I’m a 2b curl. 😁
I'm so happy you reviewed this product! A while back(about 6 months or more), I took the Prose test and was excited to try it out. Since I've wasted money on products because of the hype, I took it a step further and reached out to one of the Prose stylists via email and even followed one on Instagram before making any purchases. Long story short, my inquiry went nowhere/unanswered and took it as a red flag.
It may not have been someone from this company, but thanks for giving me(and everyone else) some answers and an HONEST review 😌

I really love that you reviewed this product even though you didn't like it. I find the non favorites almost more helpful than the things you absolutely love 😊 That way I know what I should use with caution. Also, I want to see a video on your hats!! Thanks for your honest opinion! Can you please review the Briogeo or CurlSmith line? They’re both expensive asf, but have rave reviews (especially their deep conditioning masks). Love your channel! ❤️
chulita03 I tried Briogeo and it did nothing for me. Too much protein for my hair... made it hard and dry.. Never tried CurlSmith...
Re: Briogeo I haven't even tried their curl charisma, but the Do Not Despair Repair is great. Be aware that it is not sulfate-free, which is odd since it's a conditioning mask, not a shampoo.
I have tried Curl Smith, both their Scalp line and Moisture line. I like both, but LOVE their moisture products as my hair is protein-sensitive (though they have protein products for those who need them). If you purchase at Ulta, they allow you to return them, and they also carry the trial sizes of many of the products so you don't have to commit to the larger and pricier sizes.
The bottles are very aesthetically pleasing. Kind of reminds me of Aesops design.

I used Function for a few months (long before I knew anything about silicones/sulfates/etc) when I started my curly hair journey and it was going fine and dandy but then my hair started haaaating it! Now I look back and realize my low porosity curly hair was hating that silicone filled conditioner especially since the shampoo had no sulfates. A few weeks ago I saw an add for Prose and decided to check it out and go through all the steps just for ha-ha’s and I had the exact same thought when it brought me to the part about silicones. It gave me this whole speech about how “are you suuuure??? Because WE use a super SPECIAL and NATURAL silicone that won’t build up on your hair and you NEED silicone for SLIP” girl no tf I don’t, Shea Moisture conditioners give me the best slip of my life with Shea butter and not a drop of silicone. And your whole package costs $80? Ooook byyyee. Sounds like you need to re formulate your shit and try again honey.

Function of beauty does allow a silicon free option. As you are selection the fragrance, there is a small box at the bottom you can check for a silicon free option. Please try it out 🙏🏽❤️

Hi Bianca! I really enjoy your videos. I stopped straightening my hair about 2 months ago and its going well! I am wondering if the rest of your viewers would enjoy a day 1 to day 5 instruction and product video on refreshing your curls. Maybe you could take a poll? After day 2 its back under the shower head for me! I think this type of complete refreshing tutorial will help your curl friends like me out!!!!
With all these customize products they seems to always fail. They ask you all these questions, but why not ask about how thick you like your conditioner, or how well of a slip? Or what ingredients do you want to add. Like coconut oil or avocado or manuka honey etc. I feel like it always comes down to the conditioner and if they knew your conditioner wouldn't work they should have given you more questions like these to help make the perfect blend. Also If you put your hair type they should know on their end that means you need a really good conditioner with slip. I feel like customize foundations make this same error. Which is sad, because how cool would this be if it actually worked.
Let's face it, straight and wavy hair is the priority for them, not curlies.

I really liked the prose shampoo for my 3b/c curls. I didn't try the whole prose set because of the price. I decided to go with the shampoo since I hadn't found a shampoo I liked yet. I was pleasantly surprised. My hair felt clean but not stripped. It gave me a bit of volume without frizz and my hair felt way smoother/shinier then usual. For reference I rarely ever shampooed before this because it would take weeks for my hair to get over that trauma. Now I shampoo 1 or 2 times a week with prose.
Sounds like the problems you had were with the mask and conditioner. I'm glad I didn't try those.

Thank you for this! I was about to get the conditioner but was a little iffy about it because the survey never asked anything about Hair Porosity. I have Low porosity hair so I have yet to find a conditioner that truly works for me, without me having to use the entire bottle in 3 washes. I’d probably be sold on it had they asked that question.

Please review the Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen and restore leave in conditioner. I know you’ve reviewed other products from SM before but they’ve recently sold their company and everyone’s complaining because they’ve changed they’re ingredients/formulas and have supposedly lied as well. It’d be helpful to so many of us!! Love your channel, it’s sooo helpful ! ❤️

I use a different product called Shea moisture. I use the moringa avocado & now I'm aware that I was supposed to use the mask 1st. The next time I wash my hair, I will use the mask 1st then wash/condition. I hope I get better results.

You should try MixEasy! They don’t use sulfates or silicone and you can choose your ingredients based on what you want it to do.
I did their quiz and mentioned split ends, and all three of my products plus an additional styler ended up containing protein--something my low-porosity hair does not tolerate very often. I decided not to order based on the ingredients they came up with in my formulas. For the $100 price tag I can get a lot of Curl Smith, which I like a lot and can return to Ulta if I don't.
Function of beauty does have silicone free shampoo and conditioner now. Just FYI. Would love to see you do a review.
Curly girl here! I’m so glad to found your video, I have $159 of Prose in my online cart. I was drinking the koolaid until I requested silicone free and the site said, “are you sure...” and then started telling me that silicone makes for a better experience and that not all silicones are bad and they ONLY have professional ones. I then began to doubt all my curly girl method training...so I decided to research and here we are and here i am not buying Prose. Thanks, sis! 😘😘😘

I really like prose tbh. I have 3C hair and it’s been working well for me. My hair has been growing and it looks great after wash days. Everyone is different though so I understand that it may not work for everyone. I also bought a shampoo and conditioner for my mom and she has liked it so far.

I tried Prose too, Although I love that you can choose for it to be vegan and silicone free and it's customized" It didn't do as much good for my hair as other drugstore products that claim to do the same or even DIY. So i'd only reccomend if you got the green.

there is a chemical in the shampoo for function of beauty that makes the silicone in the conditioner water soluble curly penny, did a video on it.
I’ve tried Prose and it worked great for me honestly, i have very very very oily roots/scalp, reaaallly nasty dandruff and dry ass ends. my hear is straight and i have an active lifestyle and im stressed a lot lol. my friend had given the same answers to the survey TO THE T and she didn’t get the same results my hair did. i was able to go 3 DAYS without washing my hair!!! i usually need to wash it every night (i dont but it gets noticeably oily in 11 hours) and my ends werent as brittle. my friends scalp was less oily but her hair got more tangled and she wasn’t a fan of it feeling squeaky clean. maybe she needed to answer the questions differently?

Silicones are what give products slip. So maybe that’s why. They do warn us when we choose “with or without silicones”

I used prose for three months. My hair curled okay, but I had no volume. There was way too much moisture even though I said I did not need extra moisture! It was a waste of $100. Thankfully it was a birthday gift
Edit: my deep conditioner was $48!!
