For some reason, this song consistently brings me to the brink of tears. I left a comment on the trailer saying that Ena's world feels like home to me, and I think that applies to this, too. It somehow feels both peaceful and archaic-- like an apocalypse that has already happened.
Ena's world reminds me of the old now long since abandoned 3D chatrooms that were so popular back in the early days of the internet, the abandoned worlds i used to play around in them when i was a kid so Joel's work is pretty nostalgic to me and im pretty sure that Joel G was inspired on those at least to some degree (as well as maybe LSD simulator?)

The more I listen to this track, the more I find additional details that really add to the piece. The Backrooms Labyrinth leitmotif, the soprano vocals during the spatula ballerina scenes, the penultimate (what sounds like a) xylophone, and that descending sound at the end that's meant to mimic fireworks flying in the air (but also adds to the vibe of the piece overall, as the sound falls off at the end...) This song is so great I always want to come back and listen to it again, but the track is so complex it's actually hard to remember how it sounds, I'm so excited for the game release
The name for this song is absolutely perfect. We have yet to fully experience this chapter of ena and yet I feel like I’m remembering the whole game and reminiscing just from this.
Anemoia doesnt even feel like nostolgia for something just seen for the first time, the song feels like bringing me to a place filled with anemoia I love this song so much
'A nostalgia for I time you've never known' is a way that perfectly describes the mood ENA gives off, and the way you mixed in sniplets of your past songs emulate that feeling perfectly. god damn I'm excited for Dream BBQ
Honestly, to me it sounds like the hero finally arrived to save the world - but he was too late. And now it is a fragmented, almost warped mess of what it once was.
I don’t know how you made a song this good, I’ve never been able to listen to a song on repeat and get the essence of when I first watched it every single time. I have listened to this song 3,000 times and I still feel like I’m listening to it for the first again and again and I can’t think of any word capable of describing how good this is.
This song is so amazing. Strangely it has a v similar vibe to me as the feeling I get from My Time from Omori, probably both being indie game trailer songs, but there are points, especially right before the drop, where things really remind me of My Time.
I don't agree completely. Yeah My time and this song are similar, but with My Time I get more creepy vibes, like what should b a regular event went horribly wrong. With the other song, it feels like slipping into a dream; like my brain turned familiar sounds into jibberous as I lose consciousness.
I can't describe how this makes me feel, and for this song to have been posted just an hour ago is such a fantastic coincidence. I learned about ENA literally half an hour ago, and I'm already enchanted. Thank you so much.
This is an unrepeatable masterpiece. When I first watched the trailer with headphones on I had to sit still for a few minutes just to take in what I just experienced. I'm not exaggerating.
The backroom labyrinth motif a 3/4ths through the song honestly gave me chills, it’s such a fantastical moment conveyed especially in the trailer, showing off the world. I can’t wait for the game to dropppp
Discordant, yet harmonious Incomprehensible, yet understanding Worried, yet calm Exhausted, yet full of energy A mind is broken, and yet I have never been more sane The world tears asunder, yet it is made whole The oceans are drained, yet they are overflowing The sky grows darker, yet the light still shines Life is worth little, but worth so much How strange, isn’t it Old friend? Can you hear it? That tune… It is so familiar, yet I cannot recall a time when I had heard it before… I ask once more Can you hear it? That tune, welcoming yet foreboding Strange, yet normal Unknown, yet familiar It Approaches the stage is set Our little game draws near Soon, it will all begin All you must do Is C O M P R E H E N D
I love finding poetry in comment sections. This perfectly captured the feeling of this music. You are good at this. You should write more poetry if you already don't.
I have been showing this to all my friends and discord groups, and I have this saved on multiple Playlists. It's incredible. I'm so stoked for Dream BBQ.
I love it so much, I kinda gives me a BOTW feel to it, especially i first few seconds! And it's so nice hearing some parts Backroom Labyrinth again, Good job Oliver! :D
While I love EVRYTHING about ENA, its production, its visuals, the voice acting (god forbid I don’t mention the voice acting) I think out of all of it the music sets the mood so well and makes it go so much higher up in quality. Like think about this for a moment. If not for the iconic, amazingly made music, ENA would only be half if what it was Props to you Oliver Buckland
I can't tell you how incredible this composition is. Oliver, you do a great job of conveying emotion through music. It feels like you're writing music not using instruments and synths, but using neural connections to evoke emotion directly. When I read the description, I realized that this is exactly what memories should sound like. Memories often represent the most memorable moments, the moments that evoked a great emotion in you. In this piece, all the elements sound as charismatic as possible. It is as if each instrument is an individual with its own story. Listening to this tune, the mind draws incredible pictures. I'm happy that you and joel g have found each other and made such an incredible product together. You are the ones who create modern art with modern thoughts and tools without relying on archaic notions of art. It's something you don't get tired of listening to for hours. This track + backroom labyrinth + espiral is constantly on my spotify playlist. I'm really happy I found you. Like a treasure chest hidden in a vast desert with no landmarks. I hope you keep releasing music, even though in a short time, I have become a fan of yours. p.s. Special thanks for the wave-like synth at 0:40 . During the first listen I even got tears flowing because of how beautiful and harmonious it sounds.
The amount of detail in this is amazing! Besides the music, the visualizers in this video are incredibly clever! The grey side of ENA in DBBQ is her “blocky” side, and the grey visualizer is also blocky. The red side of ENA is her “smooth” side, same with the visualizer. Just a neat tidbit I noticed.

I've been listening to this via the trailer nonstop since it dropped, this is such a hauntingly beautiful track. The vibes are just so otherworldly and perfect, it itches a really specific scratch in my brain and makes me feel something that no other artist has ever been able to make me feel. Can't wait for the game and more of your work!
i’ve only found the series within the last few days and i’m obsessed. especially this track, it brings me peace in a way i cant describe. i forgot how much i enjoy that surrealist stuff out there. i need a word more than peace tbh, listening to this on repeat makes me feel like a massive weight has been lifted from my body
I know I said I liked the implications of this theme on Dead God Graveyard, but that leitmotif has very firmly cemented itself as "some feeling of unreality." Using the theme in a track titled "anemoia," you've basically created a musical shortcut for that weird, disjointed, and yet somehow uniquely coherent feeling of everything being ever so slightly left of center when it comes to ENA and their world. Those four chords at 1:23 are h a u n t i n g in the best possible way, and I cannot wait to see what becomes of this pocket of an unremembered, but not forgotten past. Fantastic job, Oliver.
The dream bqq trailer is incredible but can we really talk how gorgeous this track is?! First part starts misterious, then there's that slow clicking clock beat, that whenever converges with the warm and melancholic piano notes and the sanctum like chorus, it embraces you into an uncertain nostalgic feeling. The bass pressence gets slightly louder but does not opacate the main melody, the chorus may go slightly unsetling but the new intrument added joins right in to keep you enticed into buckland's magic. Then, the chorus hits that high pitch and the bass slaps hard at your ears, trembling and distorting, awakening a sense of pain we didn't know but wanted to forget, like intrusive thoughts at 2 am. The chorus adds a male voice, and the whole track transforms from magical melancholy to a growing feeling of regret and dread. The piano goes up scale, reminding you of Espial(track I personally love) or Hourglass Meadow, but instead of sounding happy or quirky, it's hard hitting and serious. Familiar synth sounds join the whole enseble in this goal to submerge us into a false sense of hope, like propmting us to try and change something that already went south long, long ago. All this insane and gorgeous musical trip AND ITS ONLY THE FIRST MINUTE FOR GRYING OUT LOUD!!! Then comes the second part: opens with drums welcoming us into a macabre mad dance, full known that this musical experience became an adiction and we are all indulging on it. Then stops, Backroom labyrinth samples, the chorus going to it's intial sanctum like rythm. You realize the intial clicking clock beat was from Backroom all along, and you feel for it's enticing nostalgic magic power on you (or at least I was lol). But before you get too comfortable Buckland goes wild and reminds you this is a new experience, almost giving you a hint of whats to come but bam. it ended, leaving you again in misterious supense. so TL;DR. This track is insane and I fucking love it!!!
this is the strangest and the best audio in the whole universe.I listen to it everyday, it is just..perfect.And the fact that this was in the ENA trailer makes me just happier.
I constantly come back to this... So entrancing and beautiful; not many songs AT ALL bring on this feeling, and none of them do it so well. Thank you for this beautiful masterpiece...it alone makes the game a must buy (not that the game doesnt look amazing in its own right, but the music is just awe inspiring)

Anemoia doesnt even feel like nostolgia for something just seen for the first time, the song feels like bringing me to a place filled with anemoia
I love this song so much
'A nostalgia for I time you've never known' is a way that perfectly describes the mood ENA gives off, and the way you mixed in sniplets of your past songs emulate that feeling perfectly.
god damn I'm excited for Dream BBQ
"a nostalgia for a time you've never known, a past you never lived" is the perfect quote that describes the appeal and feeling ENA gives off.
I love this song it's so spot on and really enhanced the trailer. The backroom labyrinth part really was great.
This track is so unsettling, yet so amazing- Don't know how people achieve masterpieces like this. Absolutely awesome.
The music sounds like your on a quest to save the world
Not the world but the *entire* world
Honestly, to me it sounds like the hero finally arrived to save the world - but he was too late. And now it is a fragmented, almost warped mess of what it once was.
1:04 onwards is my favourite part. So overwhelming, yet it still inflicts nostalgia.
Finally! It's OFFICIALLY on UA-cam! This music is a banger!
Been watching yours, it's such a good song.
@@Epsilon_Rue Yeah it is! 😊 (and thanks! 😁)
I don’t know how you made a song this good, I’ve never been able to listen to a song on repeat and get the essence of when I first watched it every single time. I have listened to this song 3,000 times and I still feel like I’m listening to it for the first again and again and I can’t think of any word capable of describing how good this is.
SO EXCITED FOR THIS TO BE ON SPOTIFY i need this on loop constantly immediately
Use the power of buying it from Bandcamp and looping it locally. Then Buckland gets more money too
@@peanutkix ooh awesome to know!!! i’ve never used bandcamp before but i love supporting the artist however i can :)
@@peanutkixyeah, bandcamp is way better than spotify for artists.
i have good news
I've been listening to this in a playlist as background music when I work and it's only now that I've actually realised how hard this goes wtf!?
0:52 this part sounds like I've just discovered the power to destroy the world or something im in awe
the motifs mix so well into this piece, there's no way i can describe just how fantastic it is
Whoever did these vocals deserves a raise. Like, they go so high. Their voice must hurt
now THIS is the proper time to say, "why do i hear boss music?"
absolute banger
와 미쳤따...
노래부터 기대가 된다
This song is so amazing. Strangely it has a v similar vibe to me as the feeling I get from My Time from Omori, probably both being indie game trailer songs, but there are points, especially right before the drop, where things really remind me of My Time.
Maybe because both tunes are pretty disorganized and give a surreal "something's very wrong" vibe
@@spaghetti5914 probably a big contribution to that feeling yeah, with similar roles as a trailer theme it sticks in my mind for sure
Indie games are the BEST thing to ever happen!
I don't agree completely. Yeah My time and this song are similar, but with My Time I get more creepy vibes, like what should b a regular event went horribly wrong. With the other song, it feels like slipping into a dream; like my brain turned familiar sounds into jibberous as I lose consciousness.
@@yourhorseyepona7309 well yeah the intents are different but the general vibe and execution is similar
I just realized that that was a firework going off at 1:37, thats a really amazing detail alongside the fireworks afterwards
Interestingly, I added the fireworks first! Joel liked the sound and added the fireworks to the animation afterwards!
@@OliverBuckland That’s cool !!
This is exciting to see all this new stuff from you. Can't wait to hear the rest of this OST. You nailed the spooky vibe on this one.
This is something else, Joel G really did make an amazing choice to get you to make the soundtrack
i am maddened by how good this music is and can't wait to hear more
please don't ever stop creating
the thumbnail suggests there are multiple enas, one being the half polygon we all know, one looking a bit more human-like, and one looking corrupted
I can't describe how this makes me feel, and for this song to have been posted just an hour ago is such a fantastic coincidence. I learned about ENA literally half an hour ago, and I'm already enchanted. Thank you so much.
I have been listening to the dream bbq trailer on a loop i can't stop this is taking my brain on a trip is this what drugs feel like help
This is an unrepeatable masterpiece. When I first watched the trailer with headphones on I had to sit still for a few minutes just to take in what I just experienced. I'm not exaggerating.
This track has been stuck in my head since the Dream BBQ trailer released. I hope you're really proud of this one, man. It is INCREDIBLE!
the perfect mix of eletronic sounds and piano is impressive. literal chills, thank you for this.
The backroom labyrinth motif a 3/4ths through the song honestly gave me chills, it’s such a fantastical moment conveyed especially in the trailer, showing off the world. I can’t wait for the game to dropppp
This has been stuck in my head all day
This song was absolutely incredible! It really fit the vibe the trailer. I don't think ENA would be complete without the weirdness of your songs!
0:07 - 0:24 My absolute favorite part of this, I love harmonized vocals like that.
Discordant, yet harmonious
Incomprehensible, yet understanding
Worried, yet calm
Exhausted, yet full of energy
A mind is broken, and yet I have never been more sane
The world tears asunder, yet it is made whole
The oceans are drained, yet they are overflowing
The sky grows darker, yet the light still shines
Life is worth little, but worth so much
How strange, isn’t it
Old friend?
Can you hear it? That tune…
It is so familiar, yet I cannot recall a time when I had heard it before…
I ask once more
Can you hear it?
That tune, welcoming yet foreboding
Strange, yet normal
Unknown, yet familiar
It Approaches
the stage is set
Our little game draws near
Soon, it will all begin
All you must do
Is
C O M P R E H E N D
Ok Alan watts
>:D yooooo, this was great, my dude!! i love the mystery vibe you’ve got going on.
@@inkterstellar my thanks to you.
I love finding poetry in comment sections. This perfectly captured the feeling of this music. You are good at this. You should write more poetry if you already don't.
@@matildakristensen541 thank you. I actually do write for fun, on ao3 in fact
I have been showing this to all my friends and discord groups, and I have this saved on multiple Playlists. It's incredible. I'm so stoked for Dream BBQ.
This is amazing! Sounds like a final boss theme.
It doesn't even feel like it's been a year cannot wait for the game to come out and hear more of your music ngl!
ENA songs are their own genra
been listening to this non-stop since it was recommended to me on spotify, it got me into ENA and all your other music too. man, this is greatttt
I love it so much, I kinda gives me a BOTW feel to it, especially i first few seconds! And it's so nice hearing some parts Backroom Labyrinth again, Good job Oliver! :D
Yeah, I also get the BoTW feel, but the part before the beat drops for me. Very nice, can't stop listening tbh
My god, the chords are ripped straight out of the shrines, it’s so beautiful!
@@ukrainiansturgeon8561 I was thinking of the botw trailer
Bro this is way too fire bro my computer exploded I'm just typing on the ashes rn.
While I love EVRYTHING about ENA, its production, its visuals, the voice acting (god forbid I don’t mention the voice acting) I think out of all of it the music sets the mood so well and makes it go so much higher up in quality. Like think about this for a moment. If not for the iconic, amazingly made music, ENA would only be half if what it was
Props to you Oliver Buckland
The best way I can describe this song is like playing the wrong notes in a way that sounds enjoyable.
I need a dozen full albums, right now.
Also the hole in the ena looks most human
This is the feeling when you become an angel and see that heaven is abandoned.
TEARING UP AND SOBBING THIS MASTERPIECE HAS LITERALLY MADE ME CRY IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL THAT I STARTED SOBBING BLESS THY SOUL FOR MAKING THIS IMMACULATE PIECE OF ART I WILL PRAISE THIS SONG AND HOLD IT DEARLY TO MY HEART I LOVE THIS SO MUCH I WILL SACRIFICE MYSELF FOR THIS SONG AMD PLAY THIS AT MY FUNERAL THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS OLIVER BUCKLAND
The music has made my soul mad, crying for more, it needs more, this song has taken my soul, but it is happy now
This so charmingly horrifying,
gives you a glimpse into a truly corrupted and broken world.
Beautiful!
주인공이 절망적인 상황을 마주하고 자신에게 처해진 상황을 바꿀려고 노력하지만 노력을 하면할수록 자기자신을 잃어가는 그런 느낌이다
Underrated fucking comment for sure.
Fantastic analysis
"Endacopia's music trailer analysis: very normal music showing gameplay"
-me, probably
Been a fan of your work for a few years now, always a good day for more Oliver Buckland music!
Saw the trailer today and am already hyped but I gotta say that your music was my favorite part of the trailer.
It is such an inspiring piece
i love u oliver buckland thank you for making the greatest soundtrack for the entirety of the Ena series + game u are the best
0:41 feels so incredible, it messing with my brain in just the right way.
It took me 30 times to realize that this was a firework 1:35
My brother: you keep playing it over and over again what is that!?
The music I keep playing for 288292729272937837383822th time:
this is the strangest and the best audio in the whole universe.I listen to it everyday, it is just..perfect.And the fact that this was in the ENA trailer makes me just happier.
This song is so hard to describe, calming but horrific
I constantly come back to this... So entrancing and beautiful; not many songs AT ALL bring on this feeling, and none of them do it so well. Thank you for this beautiful masterpiece...it alone makes the game a must buy (not that the game doesnt look amazing in its own right, but the music is just awe inspiring)
I NEED MORE MUSIC LIKE THIS ASAP OMG
