this is made to play slow . the motor is made that way . I have two garrard units and one is slower then the other great video thank you for sharing it
I love these PE turntables. If you are in the U.S. on 60 cycle current and this is a 50 cycle Euro version of the player, it should be playing faster than normal, not slower. There must be some other reason for the slow play. I had a 50 cycle Euro version of a PE Rex AA and it played about 15-20 percent faster than normal on U.S. current. Good Luck!
The reason your deck is running slow is because the motor probably uses bronze sintered bearings, this means the bearings are porous and the old oil is still trapped inside the bronze, you would need to flush the pores out (somehow) then re-lubricate the bearings and you will find the motor will run at the correct speed..
Hi Darrell, I am dealing with one now (Grundig 8058). I made it play but the spindle has 4 holders at the top that prevent all records falling at once; they are rubberized. It seems the rubber is no longer...well...rubbery. Is yours the same, or is it still elastic? Otherwise mine plays fine, plus I restored the whole radio; I take it it hasn't played since maybe 1980s.

Thank you...I'm restoring a Rex next week, gonna try it with new oil for the motorbearings.

Nice work. I have one of this, but the resistors are damaged. Can you, plese, tell me the values of them ?
