Absolutely the best drill in golf. I learned the proper release, how to power the club through the ball, gained forward shaft lean, more consistent and more distance.
Of all the numerous Ryan instructional videos I have repeatedly watched this video easily is by far the most important and insightful of them all. Why? Even though Chris does not say it directly he is showing you how to rotate your left arm and hand through impact. With the modern swing your left arm has to be across your chest through impact, a hockey stick move so to speak. Now you can eliminate your push/slice. your left hand will no longer be lacking in rotation. To the halfway point in the downswing you have to create the lag and move your knees but its the move he shows here is the one that has to follow. To verify I will test it on the course and get back with an additional comment on monday 5/3
Proper eureka moment watching this! I’ve watched hours of videos on UA-cam and had several lessons and have only just learnt this technique. I was previously trying so hard to maintain wrist angles and failing and getting very frustrated. Makes it so much easier when you understand something rather than just feel it. Thank you Chris, cant wait to give this a go down the range!
Very glad this video showed up in my playlist! It’s been the best explanation I’ve seen to date. You captured the shoulder action, hips, and arms. I hope you share this again because it’s changed my game.
I went to range last night and did 20 of these drills before I started to hit balls with a 7 iron. I can honestly say the results were amazing = usual good flight but my shots were straighter with less effort; felt i was swinging through rather than hitting ball. Worked with my 9 iron then 5 iron. No shanks or duffs. Been struggling with driver and tried this drill and my shots were better. Probably best tip ever and so easy to understand what to do = left arm straight, hand into body, shoulders up and turn. Thanks Chris.
I've had this problem forever--early release and an ugly cramped delivery. I've seen so many complicated solutions that are beyond my limited skills--this is the first drill I've found that makes sense and I can get a feel for right away. Thanks!
Of all your vids (and I watch them more than I watch actual TV) this one is the best one. At least for me. This was what I was looking for. I do this drill all the time. Even on the course if I have a bad shot. I'll do this at set up in place of my waggle
genius video. everyone has video on getting to the delivery position parallel to the ground but somehow nobody explains how to get the club face to the ball from there. nice progression from your other video on feeling the correct delivery which has helped me a lot already
Brilliant Chris know ones ever explained delivery before they always say get to last parallel then 'turn' through the ball. Great for giving people an explanation 👍🏻
great video! I've been working on this move for a year, improving my ball striking. My pro always says: start the lawnmower (pull upward the rope). I gonna try the drill!!!! Thanks
WOW! what an amazing drill...makes perfect sense of the desired impact position and really demonstrates how the body should be moving in sequence! Thanks Chris
Been subscribed for a while now and once again an excellent explanation and drill to simplify a difficult/misunderstood concept. A great thing I like about this one Chris, is its adaptability to be practised indoors/outdoors with or without a club. Now its just a matter of practice and correct application. The former is one thing, the latter is the tricky bit. keep them coming. John M.
yet another very good drill. chris gives us what we need to improve our game, all we have to do, is put it into practice. and work on it until it becomes natural. thanks again love these.
Fantastic video Chris!! Very helpful! With your explanation we can understand the correct movement and how difficult it is! now going to the range to practice it!
Brilliant explanation of impact. I've been struggling with that area, I understand that I should have the club parallel to the ground at about my right leg coming into impact, but I've been struggling with the transition from that to hitting the ball. I think I've been flicking the club at the ball or rotating my wrists far too much through impact. I'll give this drill a try and see if it helps.
Your content is great! IMO the best I've found online. My problem is a little different. I don't shorten my left arm as much as tilt, drop my right shoulder, and the clubhead never passes my hands. It feels like I hang on way too much. Any thoughts? Again, great content! I'm a big fan.
Like this drill very much. I tend to pull my lead arm through the downswing and often leave the shot out to the right. Would a 'firing' of my current passive right hand as in the drill promote a better squaring of the face? Thanks for something different to try.
Hi Chris, thank you so much for this brilliant drill - simply great! Does this drill works for irons only or is it the same motion as well for woods and driver? Please let me know.
hi Chris, struggling to see what what left wrist does post impact, does it become cupped again? my club face is toe up b4 and after but if your slightly bowed on your last parallel then the hand motion is different post impact isn't it. cheers
+ChrisRyanGolf I'm hoping this applies to short pitches into the green. Tried the drill for short pitches and had immediate success but the more I practiced the worse I got. Probably forgot the bit about rotating the body and straightening the left leg. I will continue trying this with short pitches as I think it is spot on. Like so many golfers I am desperate for something that helps not only full shots but more importantly short pitches. A segment you might consider is taking someone like me and work with them to improve strike where they are not habitually hitting it fat or blading it. And ask them at some point down the road what their confidence level is over short pitches.
When I do this my finish position is very high.. Is this how I should finish? I have never heard another instructor talk about this.. but when I tried it my shots were very crisp.
Cheers for the drill... Idea for videos can you give us a course management guide round the brabazon! I'm booked in for September 2 fourballs and everyone has played before apart from me! And I'm a bad loser! Any help please!
Thanks! I am watching all of your videos and this drill has changed everything about swing movement and ball impact. Your are really the best teacher.

Best demo for developing the sequence necessary to deliver the club with lean at impact I have ever seen!!!

Love it!! It's amazing how you simplify the instruction/feel for us common folk! Thanks again Chris!
Thanks Chris. This is one of the most useful videos I've ever seen.
Brilliant Chris know ones ever explained delivery before they always say get to last parallel then 'turn' through the ball. Great for giving people an explanation 👍🏻
Thanks, Chris! Your explanation makes it so easy and make sense. It not only improves my impact, but also eliminates my chicken wing.
great video! I've been working on this move for a year, improving my ball striking. My pro always says: start the lawnmower (pull upward the rope).
I gonna try the drill!!!! Thanks

Mystery solved! Have always struggled with this concept. Can't wait to try it. Another excellent instructional video!!

Thanks Gary, glad you liked the video and the drill, they do need practice as you say but can really help. Thanks again
Fantastic video Chris!! Very helpful! With your explanation we can understand the correct movement and how difficult it is! now going to the range to practice it!
Never saw this before, brilliant and simple. And can practice at home. Thanks! Great instruction!
your drills are the best on youtube, hands down.
+Zachary Milos thanks Zachary appreciate your comments
Well done Chris. Excellent video and explanation.
This is one of d best video and so nicely explained with a drill
Brilliant explanation of impact. nice one chris . one of the best drills ive seen
Thanks, glad you liked it
Great drill, which I tried indoors then used it in my net as a warm up movement. It really livens up the body and feeds into the swing naturally. Merv
Excellent explanation and drill!! Tried it with great results!
Great explanation and demonstration! Can't wait to try this out at the range.
Thanks 👍
Really makes sense and a great way to build the sensation for impact
Thanks David
Amazing stuff again!! So clean and easy!!
Thanks Julian

good drill chris.... going to have to try this

Wow, interesting. I did 20 of these and now I am understanding how that would work in the swing. Going to try it at driving range tomorrow.
Chris
thank you for the video I just discovered. Only thing I worry about is that I may scoop even more ...Could you help me with that ?
Great drill, really felt the benefit of it
another great simple drill Chris, any chance of a video on how to walk in and set up to the ball for perfect ball position and alignment
Hi Scott, have got a video going up early May about alignment and the best routine etc so hopefully that will help
Thx Chris nice one I struggle with a routine when stepping in finding perfect ball position and alignment
best drill ever seen
Mahalo Chris! Great video will work on this.
great video, you make it so simple
Brilliant Drill
Thanks Charly
Right idea
Hi Chris, thank you so much for this brilliant drill - simply great!
Does this drill works for irons only or is it the same motion as well for woods and driver?
Please let me know.
If we look at it in terms of a machine it would be a lever arm and a linkage. With that in mind it's easy to conceptualize. Thanks!
hi Chris, struggling to see what what left wrist does post impact, does it become cupped again? my club face is toe up b4 and after but if your slightly bowed on your last parallel then the hand motion is different post impact isn't it. cheers
GREAT DRILL!
world class,instructor
I'm currently working to prevent early extension do you need to feel your spine maintains it's angle when practicing this drill?
Best video ever ! I can't thank you enough 🤘
great drill for speed and impact...I can do this practice watching TV!
Great tips !
Hi Chris,
Fantastic drill.
Is that also working with the driver ?
Yeah, how does this apply to the driver?
Yeah, i want to know if this works with driver as well.
Also want to know
great video again...
Thanks for your comment, glad you liked the video.

I tried some short pitches of around 30 to 70 and ball went straight with great flight.
Really really Good! Thanks!
When I do this my finish position is very high.. Is this how I should finish? I have never heard another instructor talk about this.. but when I tried it my shots were very crisp.
👏👏👏👏👏 genius
I'm struggling with my right Hand at downswing, please help
Fantastic insight. Far too often the delivery is only explained down to last parallel.
It's an ice hockey slap-shot!
My delivery is hard
Cheers for the drill... Idea for videos can you give us a course management guide round the brabazon! I'm booked in for September 2 fourballs and everyone has played before apart from me! And I'm a bad loser! Any help please!
But, don’t you actually want a Short Right Arm at Impact?
