- Noughts & Crosses stars Masali Baduza and Jack Rowan joined Capital XTRA’s Yinka & Shayna Marie to talk all things series one about the brand new show which has caught the imagination of audiences everywhere.
The show is based on a book by Malorie Blackman which sees an alternate history where black "Cross" people rule over white "Noughts".

I love how they went into such fine detail even with the african architecture in London and white people (Naughts) wearing clothing with African patterns and symbols on them.

this is so well said. as a white girl growing up in a diverse city, my perception on racism and the emotions of people around me has been completely changed due to this show. I'm absolutely obsessed, I so so hope that noughts + crosses has had this same effect on others - and I'm sure it has due to the incredible acting, direction and production which brings this world to life. BBC, Mammoth Screen, please please please can we get a season 2!!

Wow! This shows does leave some deep impression! My eyes have been opened, and I hope they never close. Going to read the books, but really hoping for a season 2 too
The show is great. Definitely a much watch. Watched all the episodes on BBC iplayer in a day. Always heard about the book but never got the chance to read it. But love that they made it into a show and the actors were amazing. We definitely need a season 2.
Still read the book once you get the chance - the ending is very different from the series. Sets a very different narrative for episodes to follow...

The book is a lot better than the series and there is a totally different ending, which I feel is a lot better

This was one of my favourite book series growing up! I loved how alternative they showed a world that really just shows either way discrimination is wrong and just trying to show how equality is better. I found my self remembering and comparing scenes to the book!!😂 I hope they have another season exploring the other books and the ending of the the first books. I understand that’s somethings changed to make it more modern like focusing on police brutality which is sadly very relevant now. I really liked the series and the character really should character development throughout the show. I just hope the can continue and show the ending similar to the books!! :)
I was hoping they would go to Africa and explore that I got a hint from the series that Africa is populated by Naughts.

Tatz I really recommend reading the book if you liked the series, it's different to the series but in my opinion better, like for example there's an important character not in the series and the series doesn't reach the end of the book 😊

and also Masali Baduza spoke about the aparhaed in South Africa, which ended in the last century, but she does not talk about the racist deaths and measures against whites in South Africa that are currently being experienced, that is a clear example of her hypocrisy and racism of her, and of all black people
