Hi everyone! It's so exiting to see how this video has taken off in the last couple months... So I wanted to give an update! I am currently transitioning out of my full time SMM position into a freelance SMM career and already have a few videos in the works talking about my experience in both positions and more work vlogs!

I can relate to the wearing many hats in a small company. My title is “marketing and project manager”. The good part is you get to learn so many different things especially if your in your first few years of marketing.

I have a marketing course I guess I should give it a boost to pass that however practice make it perfect but doubts of failing is scary once I start having clients 😣
I've just started a marketing role - I love it so much but the most tedious job/task for me is also ads or updating the website sometimes I enjoy it and sometimes it doesn't go as planned and it annoys me haha!

I co-own a fashion boutique and I 100% agree with everything you said especially the planning of the shoots, there’s sooo much to do but I love it 😂, personally the most tedious parts is actually creating video content for social media like Tik toks etc 😅

hey Marisa if you see this comment would you mind telling me some advice on how to start off with social media marketing?
im a 23 year old whos back to school in community college, after messing up my first 3 years in Uni. anyways so far this past fall semester i was doing an on campus job where its all about media from editing to posting on social media to filming content etc & i was wondering what should i learn about social media marketing when i eventually get an internship & how to propel that to a career job when i graduate school? Loved your video btw. This upcoming spring semester i’ll be in that media job again but im planning to do an internship this upcoming summer

Actually my favorite task is managing Facebook Ads. My least liked task is social media management but I’m still pretty good at it 🤷🏽♀️

Hi Marisa, I just started my career as a social media manager. Actually what I do is I assist someone who is a social media manager. I work 7 days a week. Monday - Friday I do engagement on followers accounts, with people in the comment section on some people's account and other engagements stuff. On Sunday and Saturday I create content. I don't know Marisa but I feel like I should have the weekend to myself or at least one day of the week so I can rest and take a break. Lol I hope I don't get frustrated and quit this job one day. I love digital marketing but I basically do the same task everyday monday-friday and that is not interesting. Do you have any advice or tips for me.
Hi! Totally understandable. It’s not uncommon to have different work hours social media marketing, which can be a benefit or a drawback! If it is possible to batch create content like dedicating 2-3 days to creating a month of content I think that would help. That’s how I try to balance my full time job and running my own social media. Hopefully in time you can work into a role without the engagement portion! It can be a tedious task.

I'm going to go into this in a future video with tips/advice to get started in the industry!! But in a nutshell I started as a fashion blogger/influencer in college and fell in love with social media marketing, and then used that experience to get my foot in the door as a social media marketing manager!

There are lots of avenues to get into social media marketing including entry level jobs to gain experience, internships, volunteering to manage for a nonprofit, etc. I got my start running my own social media channels as a blogger/influencer! I could make a video in the future about ways to start in social media management

Yes 100%! My job was way more focused on content/strategy and organic content as well, no so much paid strategy.

I’m interested in looking into this a career but I don’t want to go to school again if I don’t need to. Do I need a degree for this? I live in Canada so maybe it’s different but would like the feedback from someone already in this as a career.
It depends on the positions/companies you're interested in but I would say that overall experience is more important than a degree!

Hi Marisa, thanks for sharing this amazing video! I just graduated from uni, and hopefully can get my first client. Someone email me and ask me to write a half-year plan for them using only three hours. I was confused as I thought most social media manager charge by project, but they are very firm on that...May I ask what would you do in this situation?
Hi Nora, congratulations! I would personally find that time frame too short to be able to complete that task throughly, and I would suggest letting the client know how long you think the task would realistically take, or what you would be able to accomplish in three hours if that is all they can afford.
Should I delete bad comments or reviews on social media?
I would recommend that you consult with other employees in the company/the owner because everyone goes about it a different way!
Is social media marketing manager the same thing with social media manager?
Yes, it usually is!
