The 30th Mississippi had in a one acre area 62 killed and 139 wounded. The price they paid to capture Union guns. They painted on their regiment flag crossed cannons to mark this accomplishment. My ancestor was 1SG of Co K, 30 Miss. That acre was truly hell for the men.
