  • This video is how i fill my tractor tires with liquid ballast (window washer fluid)
    This process adds about 30 to 50 pounds to each of these garden tractor tires depending on how much liquid you put in each tire and depending on the type of liquid that you use.
    The reason i use window washer fluid is because where i live it gets below freezing at some times and this window washer fluid has a lower freezing point and is cheaper then antifreeze in my area but in warmer areas water can be used at your own risk

    Make sure you use winter blend washer fluid. My dollar tree can’t even order it. Their website will ship it to me, but that triples the price. Next cheapest winter fluid I found was $1.50/gallon.
    A good -20 washer fluid is 33.33% Methanol. My local COOP will fill your tires with a 1 part Methanol 2 parts water solution (33.33%) and only charges for the Methanol, which they inflate the price of up to $4.00/gallon. That comes out to $1.33 per gallon installed.
    It you put the proper amount of the fluid in, the level will always be above the rim, and the rim will stay wet at all times. With a water/methanol mix (which is all that the cheep blue washer fluid is) the rim won’t rust if it doesn’t get oxygen, so no tubes needed.
    With tires that small, the cost of the tubes and washer fluid combined are probably comparable to Rim Guard (Beet juice) or Bio Ballast (Corn juice).

    They sell a adapter kit at TSC made by (tire slime) it would allow use of a bilge pump, Or you can screw it on a bottle and force feed like he did here. I believe its about 6 bucks

    Well I'll be dipped, my dad gave me two bottles like that about twenty years ago but it was blinker fluid and wouldn't you know I haven't found a car since then that needed any. So I think I'll use it in this application instead. It should work right?

      Check the labels really good. It’s a little known fact, but blinker fluid is directional. If you got a bottle of right and a bottle of left, you will be ok, just make sure the left blinker fluid goes in the right tire, and vise versa, that way the left fluid in the right tire thinks it’s going right when you go forward.

    Water/fluid is incompressible. If you fill it without any air pocket, as will happen when filling with the tire lying horizontally, the tire could burst if it strikes a big rock or other shock load. Best to fill with the tire vertical & the valve stem at the 12:00 position. This will leave an air pocket above that point, enough to dampen any shock load

    cheaper and unlike calcuim it will not eat your rim from the inside out.

      Isn't calcium water way heavier than windshield washer water?

    • @tireballastserviceofflorid7771
      @tireballastserviceofflorid7771 2 роки тому

      Calcium Chloride is highly toxic and corrosive. It is heavier than water and washer fluid.

      Rim Guard is where it's at. Washer fluid is hard on tires and it super light. Rim Guard is 11 pounds per gallon good to -35 f and will never rust. It is food grade and cam be fed to animals or used as fertilizer. Everything else pales in comparison.

      It is corrosive and can irritate and burn skin but it is not highly toxic, or it would not be used as a food additive. "According to the Food and Drug Administration, calcium chloride meets the specifications of the Food Chemicals Codex, which helps ensure the safety of food ingredients. The European Food Safety Authority also concluded there are no safety concerns when it is used as a food additive in a 2019 study.Jul 24, 2020"
