The adverse effects of antidepressants can get much worse the longer you take them as I have experienced. Also, the withdrawal symptoms described in the first long interview are very real and most doctors in the United States and probably elsewhere we’re not trained in actual safe, tapering, protocols, or how to recognize withdrawal symptoms correctly. Not everyone experiences, severe withdrawal symptoms, but if you do, you can lose everything your career, your life , your will to live, and it could be a brain injury to your nervous system that lasts for years. Many people stay on the antidepressants just to avoid the withdrawal trauma. That’s not how it should be.
@@THESURAFELB, ever heard about polar nights? The shortest day in Iceland lasts just 4 hours. In my region the shortest day lasts 8 hours and it's already sooo depressing, if it wasn't for Christmas and snow it would be much worse. I cannot imagine how people handle it in the North.
@@magorzatab363 I know that the short day effect can result in depression. That can be compensated by artificial lighting which is easily attainable yet the absence of sunlight is not the case here. This is a case of social ills that is causing the depression instead.
I think there is a story across western countries that are over prescribing antidepressants to women for menopause instead of giving them the option of hormone therapy. 👌🏻
The video says that it has the highest uses of anti-depressants in the world… that doesn’t necessarily mean that the majority of Icelanders are taking those pills
Antidepressants are very bad for the brain's chemistry in the long run and can even cause acute suic. ideation! I would much rather recommend on taking Vitamin D3 + K2 supplements, fish oil and a balanced diet with lots of healthy proteins (chicken and fish in particular).
Yeah, but it doesn't have that effect over there. They have one of the lowest murder in crime rates in the entire world. Making that comparison with all the side effects, the US says comes with taking the drugs. It's clear to me a lot of these problems here or because of economic stress points. What's your reality? It usually makes a lot of people angry and bitter and disingenuous and fake. And then we go into a cesspool of this environment, on top of financial troubles are financial anxiety and mental stress makes people do different things. I think the real problem here is that unlike there. Because most of the financial stress problems are not there and they live in a very peaceful country. The antidepressants actually work, so yes, when they do measure their happiness on an index, or at least try the best that a human being can try to measure other people's happiness. They are happy. Simply, because at least they live in a supportive, happy environment, the antidepressants actually work opposed to here with the environment would never allow the drugs to be able to really work because of all the stressors that are real in our lives, that drugs can't make go away in our head. I happen to think anybody looking in iceland and trying to case, judging on them needs to take a step back.
Neither were they for the SSRI's! You don't get it, it is not about shaming people, it is about not imposing this as standard practice on everybody just because a chosen few function with and not treating them as a cure when they are not.
@bryanotieno7106 Thank you for your feedback. We have just released an episode on spiritual healers in South Africa, and how they're helping to address the country's mental health crisis. You can watch it here: ua-cam.com/video/OwHQ6w_a2zg/v-deo.htmlsi=DXkAoFhlZWWbk8OE
TLDR: this is easy peasy. Lack of sunlight due to its extreme placement near the Arctic circle. Lack of vitamin D can affect your mood as well as cause calcium deficiency. (Not going to cover the full pharmacology and pathophysiology behind it. Do I look like your lecturer?!?) Also Iceland has one of the lowest population density on Earth. With huge land mass. It can be very isolating outside of the capital and main city. I imagine there are predatory dumbshits, like all other places that takes advantage of isolation, every now and then. Oh and some of the food choices/selection available also contributes to the condition. Also bit controversial but I can't help correlate Nordic cultural elements with higher likelihood of depression. Oh and minor speculation but some antidepressants do have multiple uses outside of its main indication. I'd imagine alternate use patients also contribute to the data.
Iceland is a small country. You have to be strong because he has a different opinion. The pharmaceutical industry and the doctors are not questioned. Pills are the easy way out. The doctors are incompetent and have far too much power.

Happiest country in the world the meds must be working 😂😂😂
This is because of lack of sunlight. You go to tropical countries, you will see people happy despite of poverty.
No .. australia new zeland not happy
They have sunlight in Iceland. It is due to addiction.

They should take vitamin D3 supplements then

How can this be the happiest country in the world if most of the people here take anti-depressant pills?

The happiest country in the world
Everyone is on therapy and a lntidepressant 🤷🏽♀️
How does that work?
Western minds ... How to understand??? Hahaaa
Plenty of Icelanders ask the same question - why is Iceland always so happy when everyone is so depressed

Very good recommendation !
Anti depressants are super good. Small side effect, suicidal and homicidal thoughts. Most shooters in US were on them

Stop guilting people about SSRIs! Humans were not genetically made for today's world.

Use vitamins, supplements, CBD.
Think outside the box.👍
Learn meditation.
vitamins arent an efficacious substance if you dont have a deficiency
