great documentary, so few people realise how much he has given back to Aberdeen and Scottish golf, all the kind words are absolutely deserved.👍👍👍👍👍

Paul Lawrie has never been given the credit he deserves for his triumph in The Open Championship. He kept his nerve and won. Others didn't and lost. He was a worthy champion and a popular one.

Tremendous example of giving back to the game of which he had so much success.
I regret I never congratulated him after his open success whilst passing him in an airport car park. Top class player

I grew up in Aberdeenshire and am a few years younger than Paul. He was very famous in the 80’s as having the potential to be a tour pro. We are all very proud in Scotland of what he has achieved 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏆

Paul is a tremendous guy, great sense of humour and loves the banter. Not many people remember that Paul just scraped through qualifying - I was a neighbour in Coull Green at the time - and we chatted after both qualifying rounds, the rest is history. Everyone in Aberdeen watched that final round, incredible performance. He is right about Marian, a lovely woman and a kind person.

Went to Wentworth once...I bomb it pretty good, but the only two golfers in the field that made me go 'oh wow!' off the tee, and just the swing and ball striking... Rory... and Paul. Phenominal golfer and amazing mature and warm demeanour. Top man.

i always have a small chuckle to myself as I remember those taxi driver golf days....and always tell the mrs that we started the golf career of an open champion...seriously though it has been a pleasure to watch Paul grow from that assistant pro to Open champion and then go on to create his golf foundation and then the tartan tour. he was never given the credit he deserved by playing so well in the play off....he hit the best 4 iron under pressure that a certain mr Jack Nicklaus had ever seen.
I loved the days of the taxi guys golf days with Stevie and Paul and their late father Jim who was a character.....sadly a long time ago but cherished memories.
Paul Lawrie pride of Aberdeen around the world......weel dun min.

A wonderful watch. Paul sold me a set of irons in 1983 (or84?) at Banchory - actually swapped a set I had got in Canada for a set they had of Browning Mirages.... still have them 40years later. He sounds just the same guy he was back then. Very proud of all he achieved - he did "peak well" as he won the Open and a big prize at the Dunhill. Loved him winning his singles match in the Ryder Cup too..... if I remember his chipping was wonderful there too! Good to see Banchory too - four of us went there every autumn for many many years.

when people ask what shot stands out for me, i always think back to the 4 iron into the 18th at carnoustie. right up there with Sandie's bunker shot at Augusta and Y YE Yang hybrid into the 18th against tiger for the PGA. its a shame Van De veld grabbed the headlines that day, Paul should have got more recognition for his achievement winning the open. Paul comes across as a real humble and genuine guy. Pity more certain sportsmen don't follow his example.
