Thanks for your video, we started looking at a JPOD but upon seeing it thought it just to small. Now we are looking at the Crosstrack as it will be my first off-road caravan (normally a swag/tent camper). Also want to carry my dual sport bike, but that only weighs 130kg. So will watch your selection/build with interest
Thanks @viffer781 my van has finally arrived, and I've been in Mackay for the last few weeks. You might have noticed hardly any video uploads. My adventure bike fell over actually was cut off. So broken foot and now in Townsville with broken back. But all good and on the mend. Can't wait to pick up the van and do a full video on it, just stock standard walk around. Then, the mods begin. Join jayco crosstrak owners group on Facebook worth having as good posts on there.
There are so many things about this unit that you don't like or are going to change. I don't understand why you are still buying it! There are so many alternatives to look at.
most of the things mentioned are not a problem for example you can use lithium batteries with the standard system by changing the setting on the app and can be optioned from the factory...
My main thing is weight a 220kg adventure bike needs to go on the draw bar. I don't want a toy hauler or a camper trailer. Also the van needs to be narrow if you seen the tracks i go most vans like the Outback are too wide and you will damage the sides plus departure angles over creek crossings. I'm interested to see what vans you are stating that there are so many yet the hundreds i have looked at in the last 12 months this is the only one that comes close to what i need. If your traveling on bitumen and comfy Australian roads sure any van will do. Try living in one full time and traveling up and down the Beef rd and Peak Downs highway every fortnight and see how long any van lasts. I,m not saying there is a problem with the van just normal little upgrades i will do along the way.
@@laksirilynam1946 yes still going back and forth with Jayco but they are supplying the batteries and all components at factory for electrical upgrade. Also i want to change the mattress for a more comfortable unit. They have to supply it with what was fitted but are happy to take back at the dealership. Unfortunately most van manufacturers now are not interested in custom builds with new laws coming into effect and to change there design is not an option. Yes there are a small few Australian builders still that could do something but I'm not paying 160g just for a single axle that is still cramped and heavy as. Lol
Actually thinking now of looking into the battery system again with the new rules and regulations on Lithium coming out in October. Just seen a photo of what there solution is for mounting the batteries outside and it is not a good design for an off road van at all. I have still been looking at other vans even with the caravan show just gone there a hundreds out there. But ball weights If anyone knows of a small off road van that comes close to 100kg on the ball with the extended draw bar feel free to leave a comment.
Just checked the specifications on there website. No good at all for me. 170kg ball weight straight up. Draw bar way to short how is a 220kg KLR650 fit on it! If I did not want to be able to take my bike yes great van.
Nice video and the Crosstraks seems to be good value

The bloke who fits the wiring harness must be blindfolded. 😂
Agreed same with the Outback i had to fix some wiring issues first few months but has been a great van ever since.
