  • In this video I head down to Charing Cross in the West End of Glasgow and explore the multiple relics left from when the M8 motorway was built through the city. This video coveres the three Bridges to Nowhere and where they used to be. These are the Anderston Footbridge, Charing Cross Podium and the Anderston Centre to Albany Hotel bridge, and I show you around and tell a little bit about the history of these bridges.
*oop and I said JP Morgan instead of Morgan Stanley 👀👀

The motorway was build on slum clearance only park of the motorway that wasn’t was Charing Cross area. They is a part of the road that cuts of heading to Charing Cross from the east that would of went up to Mary hill area and being called the Lomond motorway

No, not all of the plan was placed on 'slum clearance' as stated. Very many fine red sandstone streets and tenements were smashed down in this desire to 'modernize' and bring Glasgow 'up by it's bootstraps'. This was a good motivation because of the prevailing circumstances at that time of very bad/barely inhabitable housing in that area, but it lacked any kind of fineness and so very much was lost due to 'whack it down regardless', demolition of very good properties for the advancement of the motorway plans, and of cars/motorize road transport in general.

Maybe Glasgow should of had a orbital motorway just like Manchester and London.

Sorry but I can't watch your video! The dreck you are playing in the background is unbearable and utterly unconnected to the subject matter. At various points it actually drowns out your narratiion! What were you thinking when you added it? Cretinous.
