    If you put a layer of tissue or tracing paper in front of your camera light, it will diffuse the light and you won’t get the glare on the resin.
    Also, when gilding the edges of the paper (great touch) would clamps or alligator clips work to hold the paper closed?
    Thanks for sharing everything you do. I’m also glad to know of someone else who has things for ‘just in case’ crafting. My problem is that I not only keep stuff like that, but I buy it too. Although I must say that at two in the morning when I’m doing a project or an order (I make cakes among other things) it’s great to remember that “I have that tool!”.

    Listening to this video it is like I am listening to myself. I also cannot throw away any of my craft stuff, nor any of the stuff I have kept over the years to make into "something" just in case I may need it. Hubby thankfully understands that I need to keep it all and buys me new bins to keep it in when I run out. :) Love your work, it is absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing.

    Hi Louise, to use resin to create a book-cover is a wonderful idea as well as gilding the edges !!! Some weeks ago I recommended your channel and also the ones of jedrek29t , resinAce and Artsy Madwoman to the ArtResin channel because it seemed they had some issues with flowers, pyramids etc. Well I hope you do not mind me...I just think that the four of you are among the best ones concerning resin !!! And everyone has her/his own unique style and method. Hi from Germany, Monique :-) P.S. Great birthday-gift-trick

    I really love these. Thank you for sharing your art. I'm really interested in working with resin, but I am concerned about the odor as I live in a small apartment with my hubby and cats. Can you tell me, please, how strong the odor is?

    • @LouiseSingletonCreations
      @LouiseSingletonCreations  4 роки тому

      There is no odour with this epoxy resin (TotalCast) but it is still important to work in a well ventilated area as the fumes can be harmful. The fact that there is no smell can give a false sense of security. X

    Hi Louise what resin do you use please? And do you use a mask and if yes which one please? X

    • @LouiseSingletonCreations
      @LouiseSingletonCreations  4 роки тому

      Hi Vicky, I can’t remember off the top of my head which resin I used in that video but I’m thinking it may have been Liquidissima from Resin Pro (it’s ace) I do wear a mask most of the time but I have been known to take it off in frustration when my glasses steam up! It is a full face mask because my eyes are sensitive and it has organic filters. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283862579295

    Beautiful
    Question: how do you get rid of any excess resin that can end up around the edges of the journal-this keeps happening to me anyway.

    • @LouiseSingletonCreations
      @LouiseSingletonCreations  3 роки тому

      Thank you, yes it is quite normal for that to happen with resin. You have a few options; the raised edge can actually be quite useful if you want a top coat after demoulding because it acts as a barrier to stop the resin flowing over the sides. If you want to get rid of it you can do it very easily with either a sharp craft knife, a de-burring tool or an emery board type nail file. I hope that helps.

    I love how these turned out! I'm wondering how long you waited to "paint" the green and purple on to the background? I attempted something similar and all my colors ended up blending together.

    • @LouiseSingletonCreations
      @LouiseSingletonCreations  4 роки тому +1

      Thank you. Honestly, I can’t remember how long I waited but it won’t have been long because I am too impatient. I spent a lot of time on it because the first application did blend together so I kept adding to it over time. I think it helped to give it depth by doing it that way.

  • @digitaldarkroom07
    @digitaldarkroom07 3 роки тому

    If you let the resin thicken, won’t your flowers stay put? I have a quick question not about this video...I was looking through your Amazon lists and I see one for a terrarium but I don’t see a terrarium video...am I missing something? I would LOVE to see that!!!

    • @digitaldarkroom07
      @digitaldarkroom07 3 роки тому

      PS- I have an entire craft room full of stuff too (I love paper crafts!) that I cannot part with! I would part with my entire clothes closet before my crafting supplies!

    • @LouiseSingletonCreations
      @LouiseSingletonCreations  3 роки тому

      Haha you found out what’s coming next! You don’t miss a thing do you?! 1st July my terrarium video will be published. And in answer to your first question, yes, you are right they would stay put a lot better if it was thicker but I also wouldn’t get so much of the blending. I think the secret is in the timing.

    After watching your video I decided to try making my own notebook covers, so I bought a mould and I've created a few (none have turned out very good yet), but my mould has curled up at the corners. Is this normal, is there a way to stop the silicone mould curling?

    • @LouiseSingletonCreations
      @LouiseSingletonCreations  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Andy, I’m glad to hear you had a go. I’ve experienced some warping with mine recently too. I’m thinking it might be worth sticking it to a flat surface with double sided tape first. Other than that I can’t think of anything, I guess it’s worth investing in more expensive moulds, you really do get what you pay for. Another thought just popped into my head, how about making your own mould using one of the covers which you have already made? That way you can make it as sturdy as you like.

    • @AndyAspellClark

    I think they look amazing Louise. Do you always use cardboard for the back of them? Where do you get that from? Warmest wishes

    • @LouiseSingletonCreations
      @LouiseSingletonCreations  4 роки тому +2

      Thank you. These were my first attempts. The photo one had a resin back with glitter in but with the flower one I was too impatient to wait for another resin one to cure so I used the board. It’s mount board which you get for making picture mounts and I get it from Amazon. I was pleased with the effect of photocopying the front to stick on the back too.

    I have those same journal cover molds. Have had problems w the final cover not being flat, they seem to be too thin. Anyone have some ideas on what I might do to prevent the edges from curling up?

    • @LouiseSingletonCreations
      @LouiseSingletonCreations  4 роки тому +1

      I have found that it’s hard to see if they are filled up enough. I had one turn out with one really thin corner which suggests I didn’t have it level because others turned out fine. I think the most important thing is to keep them on a flat surface for several days until they stop being bendy.
