    The biggest gripe i have for the Jaffe TMs is the AI. Its supposed to be a death match but everyone only target you. Its funny in TM PS3 there's a one v all mode that plays exactly like death match

    • @whichDude
      @whichDude 3 місяці тому +3

      3 and 4 get hate, but the AI definitely would go after each other. Makes them easier since you aren't 100% enemy focus.

    I think for the sake of backstory and being rooted as close to reality as any game, it makes every other game seem hokey, but also the gameplay is just phenomenal.
    Black didn’t just set the standard for Twisted Metal, it set the standard for the car combat genre as a whole, which I personally believe was a minor contribution to the death of the genre.
    Loving the content buddy 💚

    I really liked this game the stories were dark and gritty. Especially Preacher's. I think that's what his name was. He was sent to the asylum because he killed an infant during an exorcism but it was later revealed he had a psychotic break while performing a baptism for a baby.

    I like the progression with unlocking characters and levels, and the combat is very satisfying.
    Honestly the thing I hate the most about this game is the whole minion backstory, I think it would have been much cooler if black was how twisted metal actually looks to the world, rather than it all being in sweettooths head.

    The game has a lot of meaning for me personally. My childhood snd much of my 20s were very messed up and I struggle severely mentally everyday. For some reason I found comfort in thid game playing it as an 8 year old kid (which is pretty messed up) not trying to sound edgy but when you have lived in a dark place for so long the dark and depressing is comforting.

    As a kid I likely discovered this game, Silent Hill 2, and GTA III all around the same time as each other, and these three games really shaped the kind of media I would be into the most as I grew up: dark, serious, foreboding games and movies whether or not they were explicitly horror. I was hooked to the way that tone and atmosphere alone could captivate you and make you feel just the way the developers were intending you to feel - nervous and anxious about what could be lurking around the next corner so to speak, but pushing on anyway because those emotions go side by side with adrenaline.
    With Black, while I had played some if not all of the PS1 TM games earlier at an even younger age, Black stands head and shoulders above as my all-time favorite TM game. What I love about it over all else is its said tone and atmosphere, and how the developers focused on that and how the story of the individual characters weave into it first and foremost. Gameplay can be good or bad (which thankfully in Black it's good for the most part), but I feel like story, tone, characters, atmosphere, and the way it all makes you feel deep down is how you really remember a game when you think on it many years down the road - and that's why I remember Black as strongly as I do as the best TM game, and one of my all-time favorite games overall beyond that.

    I haven’t played TMB yet, but something I love about it is how fast it looks, with your car being so low to the ground, with super tight turns, with SFX, rain, snow, and buildings zooming by so fast. Makes it look less like a car, and more like a death machine

  • @zeran1994

    the reason I like it tmblack is because of the characters/cars I honestly love this iteration of them. On the other hand I think the levels could really use some "fun" not even like lighter colors, but the levels just feel blah

    Drive-in movie is definitely the hardest level in the game the way you win that level is by keeping an eye on the health helicopter at all times the health helicopter almost always instantly respawns so you have to take advantage of it or you will lose it spawns over by the drive-in theater screen

    Holland and drive-in movie are supposed to be small and test your skills. Plan your strategies, be aggressive, back off when you need to do it. It's supposed to make you feel an intense battle. Prison passage kinda sucks in challenge mode since you are tied to your standard weapons at the beginning of the battle. However, on story mode, you can carry weapoms from your battle with minion, and if you are smart, that's what you have to do. Actually, I always pick drive-in movie when I play story mode. Prison passage and suburbs are my favorite levels.

    I’m glad you touched on most of my issues in the first half of the video. I do highly disagree that this should be a new person’s first TM game. If this was my first I would probably hate Twisted Metal since I have up on this game and came back like 7 years later. I would say TM4 would be the best for a new player.

      I think maybe twisted metal 2012 should be for new players. It has a training mode and the specal moves like freezing are just a button. Although, to be fair, twisted metal 4 was my first twisted metal and I have been a fan ever since I played it. Lol

      @whichDude 3 місяці тому +1

      I vote Small Brawl. Gameplay is extremely similar to Black, but it's a much more forgiving game. Bright color pallet goes along way too. Would then recommend Black, 2, 4, and Head-On.
      Would avoid getting people started with 1,3, and 2012

    I think the reason I love this game so much is as a kid I played every single one that came out, my parents bought it for me every Christmas, and I always enjoyed it put the main reason I like black is once I got old enough to play it and truly understand it it made me appreciate the older ones and go back and visit their lore and understand the whole story is a hole so really it was the best introduction to a universe.

    I like the dark setting and stories. Dollface looks cool and badass. Roadkill has his best special here. And the Sweet Tooth mech transformation was creative here.
    I like how to unlock the extra characters and stages. I also dont like the pitfull health pickups.
    I dont like the super fast gameplay. Cars behaving as super hovers and the broken AI.
    The bland coulor pallet and some stages are also a bit disapointing.

    I believe that black its so loved because it was the jump for TM to the next generation of consoles, the grafics, the effects, the sound, the gameplay, it was such a big change, TM black was one of the first games i played in Ps2 and for that it has a special place deep in my heart, but i think that the reason many people love it its for the evolution of TM into the next generation

  • @yellowcard425
    @yellowcard425 Рік тому +3

    Disagree with me if you will but TM Black looks so good it could be an early PS3 game. And it came out in 2001. You can argue with me and tell me it has outdated graphics but I disagree. Game still looks great. One of the best looking and playing PS2 games

    Dark Story, art work and the entire presence and ambience it gives. It's a very hardcore gritty game, its not meant for kids or casual people. There was NOTHING like it when it came out. I spent hours trying to get through characters story's because it was so well put together. Twisted metal 2 had character sheets, Silly and goofy backstory. This however was a like being put in the role of a action/horror role character at the time. You don't play the game you... experience it. YOU played this movie you were watching. TO this very day, I'll watch full movie character back story's on UA-cam from this game. Many love/hate it, just like I do. The biggest flaw however the games SO difficult....you eventually have to cheat or quit. No saves. YOU can get get good, it's almost not fun. No replayability unless your frustrated. This was a very frustrating game. Even the developers admitted it was to difficult to be fun.
    While not the best. By far the best written and the art work bled right in to how it played. Love the ominous feeling of dread that your just not going to make it the entire time. Because you don't.
    6/10
    -(If you take twisted metal 2, and twisted metal black. Keep it dark. Million dollar idea....Twisted Metal 2 Black)

    The look, the way it seems like holy cow this could be real, not over the top, it set out what it wanted it to be, right balance between new and returning characters. Easy on the eyes when u play at night. It needs a day and night for the maps and to be able to change the color of the vehicles (skins for the vehicles) when u beat it everyone has a good reason and story in my opinion. Manslaughter was ok but minion needed a real story

    Liked the game play and weapons. I wasn’t big on the horror style, was always more of fan of the original model of a “Rock n Roll Demolition Derby” like TM1 and TM2. Its still a mile better than TM3 and TM4. Loved Minions plot twist.

    I love the fast-paced gameplay. I don't necessarily love the very quick Time to Kill in this game. It feels like you die in 4 seconds if you aren't constantly searching for health and dodging.
    I love the tone of the game. The dark, gritty themes of the stories are great. I don't really care for the brown and gray aesthetic all the time; I'd love for a couple more "colorful" stages to break up the monotony.
    I love the selection of weapons. I would've liked more, like a Rain 2 or MIRV.
    Boss-wise, the Minion fight was quite annoying at times, especially given the "nowhere to hide" arena.
    Overall, I think Black is top 3, maybe my second-favorite behind Head-On. Really enjoyed those two.

    I like tm black for the most part my favorite aspect is the storytelling and lore the gameplay is fun although I'll admit the A.I. can be tough as nails but enough practice and they become much less of a problem despite all that though the boss fights not just in black but the series as a whole kinda suck they always make it way to easy or way to hard no real middle ground

    Let me preface this with I do love twisted metal black however I really don’t understand how this game has garnered such a audience due to the actual difficulty spike within this game it is leagues harder than any game other than MAYBE tm1 but I’d attribute tm1 being hard due to controls but yeah that’s my two cents

    As someone who only played Black for the first time recently, I would say I like it, but I don't love it. I think it is like number 5 or 6 out of my top 8. The color scheme is meh and most of the maps are meh. And for me in Twisted Metal, the maps are one of the two most important aspects of the game. I definitely like the cars and the way the game feels to play, but the aesthetics and the maps are a massive let down for me.

    My take on tmblack is that it's a very good game with far superior physics to the older tm games. But that should be expected since on a much more powerful console. It feels good to play, and the driving is fun. Many of the stories were good as well.
    What I didn't like was the color pallet for the game. It was very bland and boring, which takes away from the fun of a lot of the otherwise pretty good maps. The weather is also insanely annoying. I didn't like that some of the stories were just very bland and generic, and I personally hate that the game takes place in the minds of sweet tooth. It just makes the same feel like one of those tv shows or movies where nothing matters(more than game typically does) because none of it is real.
    I understand that tm2 did somethingsimilar, however having it be in the minds of mutiple people who were involved in the same accident and being some sick way to decide if one lives is way better than a psycho playing dungins and dragons cae edition with his psyc ward buddies. This is just my opinion, obviously, and I still really liked the game
