I’m on the other side of the pond…these new podcasts are great! I bought a Mark 3 electronic when it came out, have a gold Huntsman “Midas”, and am just about ready to get an Alpha Wolf. Good to hear Tony’s history of the electronics and of BRK. Matt, the benefit of the peanuts is that you can enjoy eating them too while waiting for a squirrel…..and not worry about getting shot!!!

    Hello Gentlemen,
Thank you for an interesting conversation to listen to. I found lots of interesting points there to listen to and think about.
I'm looking forward to seeing you all the British Shooting Show in less than two weeks time.
I'd like to say thank you to Richard, who's given me lots of advice on airgun shooting, across the board.
My airgun shooting journey began after my dearly loved father passed six years ago. Ivecwanted air rifles all my life. For some reason, shooting was dads territory and not for me to tread, just an unwritten rule.
I've wanted Weihrauch HW80K from being twelve years old. I got one in 2019, but was really disappointed with the stock it came with. So using hand tools in my kitchen, I set about making a laminated stock in walnut and ash. I brought it in last year to the NEC Show and showed Richard and Tony who liked it.
Since my airgunning journey began, I've worked on spring air rifles, tuning them. I've made top hats, spring guides, sleeved the springs, making them function and operate much better than they originally did. I've made a couple of my own stocks as I I thought I could improve on what the air rifles came with.
I think there's a big mis conception about us shooters. I see myself as a conservationists. I keep an eye on squirrels, magpies, Jays etc, so that Songbirds may have a chance to survive and prosper.
I think we airgunners do a great job in controlling pests and not one phonecall to the council is required. We dont eradicate, we just control and keep a balance. I think the public would be really stuck without us.
Congratulations to Tony and his Daystate Company. They make fantastic air rifles, and they're British! It doesnt get any better.
I spoke to Matt briefly last year, though, understandably, he was heavily in demand.
Good luck to you all, and I hope, even though it's a lot of hard work for you, the British Shooting Show is a great success again.
    Best wishes, Ian.

Love my collection of Daystates and bought a BRK Ghost last year and absolutely love it. My biggest bug bear with it though is the such high cost of the magazine (and single loader) for it. Everyone says how ridiculously expensive these are. When you feel like you're being ripped off it does tend to put you off.

I know what you mean. When squirrel shooting I always like to have another 2 mags ready to go, that's another £160 approx. Not an insignificant sum.

Glad maize is working for you - no reason to change if it's producing good results.
My biggest snag is having to compete with other food sources - pheasant feed or beech mast and acorn crops - on most of my permissions. I've had reasonable results with maize - and slightly better when flavouring it with aniseed - but it doesn't come close to peanuts on my patch.
