Glad the algorithm brought me here, great channel. Old school morrowind player. Appreciate the game more now with understanding of the hidden mechanics I didn't figure out playing the game 2 decades ago. Great stuff
Little Hand-to-Hand tip: it may be more useful to spam the attack button while punching to focus on getting lots of little hits on the enemy, as if using a dagger. Then when the enemy is down pull the punches all the way back because they'll stay on the ground longer if the knockdown blow is hit harder (also does more damage). Paralyse can also be used to damage health directly without knocking the opponent down. Paralyse can also be used while being attacked by several enemies, as H2H is best for 1 on 1 fights and can freeze enemies you're not attacking. The H2H power escalation seems exponential, so it becomes OP late game, while being underpowered in the early. Also damage scales directly off of H2H skill so having fortify H2H is nice (I think the bound gauntlets have the enchant.) Fortify H2H can also help getting over the early game hump as it seems to be easier to level with a higher skill level weirdly enough. Sorry for the long comment, hope this helps :) *Hand-to-Hand increased to 24*
I'm really disappointed in you, Lyle. You were in the Zainab camp looking for a merchant and forgot they have the one and only Ababael Timsar-Dadisun, author of The Buying Game and the only mercantile Master level trainer with 9000 gold to trade with....On a different note, when do you intend to start exploring the mainland?
21:13 Isn't that Hlaalu was replaced by that new House Sadras? As far as I remember, Redorans had to run from Ald'ruhn during the red year and they let them settle at ravenrock
you were wondering about the zainab tribe's trader. ashur-dan is the official trader, but there's also ababael timsar-dadisun, the wealthiest merchant in the game, master mercantile trainer, and author of the buying game
@57:40 -ish Hlaalu is way more into slavery than Telvanni, at least on Vvardenfell. Tel has 2 slave markets, at least one egg mine I can think of, & slaves dotted about; Hlaalu has plantations and heavy ties to Camonna Tong (whom have Dren platation and a lot of slave smuggling). There's a few Hlaalu sub factions/internal conflicts, the slavery rift is one along with the Tong/Imperial and a "corruption" thing. During the twinlamps arc, you work with the Duke's niece (both Hlaalu), but there's also a twinlamp that is related to the owner of the second largest plantation (Arvel and again Hlaalu). At the very least, Telvanni's form of slavery is kinda less race focused, unlike Hlaalu and Redoran slave markets, the Tel Aruhn market has all races, you get sent there to buy a "telvanni bride" during the main quest. Telvanni are very openly a might makes right faction, yeah of coarse slavery would be a none issue to them, but being like "ugh Telvanni bad cuz slaves" is kinda a bad take.
Lmao, House Telvanni having a more diverse selection of slaves doesn't earn them brownie points or make them any better than Redoran or Hlaalu. All of Vvardenfell's Great Houses are terrible for doing it in the first place. I am a bit more charitable to House Hlaalu with regards to slavery as they have members who are definitely interested in abolition work. I do believe that Vedam Dren sincerely doesn't back the Camonna Tong/his brother. However, when push comes to shove, the Duke is the political equivalent of a speed bump. He's totally ineffectual at achieving change, or really anything besides the day-to-day clerical work. Certainly, I think his own daughter can see it just as well. Perhaps he's so apathetic because the current regime benefits him and his constituents greatly, though I think it may intentionally be written so his true motives for apathy cannot be clearly discerned. To tie things back around, I will likely forever hold that Telvanni are bad because of their stance on slavery. To me, they very much read as the most brazenly pro-slavery Great Houses on Vvardenfell, what with the open air slave market in their primary city and many (all?) of their highest ranking members openly using slaves in their towers. However, to be perfectly clear, their brazen use of slaves and slave markets is a symptom of my ultimate issue with them: I'm opposed to House Telvanni on an ideological level. I'm staunchly against their "might makes right" code of conduct. I mean, they're essentially mega-libertarians, or even hardline anarcho capitalists who measure in strength-by-magic rather than capital. Anyway, just for additional clarity, I love House Telvanni as a work of fiction. Their writing is good and I enjoy it in a similar way that I enjoy Hlaalu's. In-world, I think they're abhorrent. I'd probably rank them third most despicable of Morrowind's major factions, right under the Sixth House and the Tribunal Temple, who are both just two different flavors of fascism.

house hlaalu was disgraced in morrowind and I think self imploded to a degree within dunmer society so they have no way of getting raven rock after the red year.
"isn't that what you do in real life? Right? punch a shark right on the nose?" Can we get a vid of you trying that? Not that i'm sadistic enough to watch your arm getting bitten right off.... :P There's an old saying Lyle , "The only way to swim faster than a shark is to swim faster than the guy behind you" - words of wisdom from some guy who didn't get eaten XD
Imma be honest, there's no reason that there should be a dice roll on if you hit or not if it obviously should hit. That intro clip is one of the main reasons I could never get into Morrowind, still insanely fun to watch gameplay tho
There should definitely be a dice roll to hit and dodge. The difference in more recent games is there are animations to show you what happened. Everything in rl is probability. Everything.
I remember stumbling upon the prelude while trying to find the mudcrab merchant and getting a free daedric wakazashi, so I guess that explains it
This series is so underrated. I love it
I've really been enjoying your work Lyle. Have a good night!
Looking good! You've lost some weight, Antonin Scaletal.

Luck is awesome. Max luck agility block and shortblade. Never miss, always crit and never get hit.

You went all the way to that Imperial shrine and didn't hit it up a couple times to restore your magic. Crazy.
