I love how he hides behind glass in the beginning
Great special effects and everything, only complaints is the fire fight and acting
Nice vfx no doubt. But a bit unbelievable. With a rifle almost as long as he is tall, he couldn't hit someone ten feet away?
and the actor is taking 5 minutes to move from a covering potition to shhoting potition by making a whole circle with a huge weapon, while the enemy is in front of him but he cant shoot a fly, adding that we are in a time far more in the future-weapons are supposed to be better? even with a simple weapon nowadays you can kill at that distance.
I enjoyed that! Cinematography was excellent, Special fx were awesome, acting and directing is what held me from completely pulling myself into it. It looked kind of like a really well made power rangers. I still thought it was one of the better made shorts I've seen
Very good technologic demonstrator
This is the best Mac Mave Movie in Time!
LAWL! paintball mask as a protective helmet against bullets? Hiding behind a glass wall for cover? Walking right up to an armed gunship while it is looking right at you? NEXT!
Cool short... all those bullets flying and no one gets hit for a while AND he's standing behind GLASS bricks... I don't think so. AND a bit too much fire on the blown up alien unless he was carrying gasoline for propulsion. The alien suit looked pretty cool !
Some people just don't grasp the what's involved, or they find being the anonymous hater on UA-cam entertaining. If someone takes for granted what you do, you probably already know enough to ignore them. Keep up the good work!!!
Excellent. Prioritize, improvise, finalize. Tactics override strategy in tight spots.
That's RIGHT! Next time we come to your crummy planet, we're bringing a greenhouse!
your actor did a good job, all I saw was that he could of made the gun look bit heavier
nice little movie, it shows you had fun making it. Thanks!
It's not a mistake; it's as you say due to production matters. You can't try to appear reasonable but then at the same time be so definitively critical.
Finally a short action film from you guys! :D You did NOT disappoint! Please make more more often!
The alien fighter was the COOLEST design! I will say that and therefore show that it is easy to criticize, while it takes so much more to care enough to find the positives and thank these guys for the entertainment. Learn from mistakes, dust yourself off and keep at it. Expand on the story maybe and make us care about the human aspect. Otherwise we might root for the cool looking aliens!
that was freaking awesome
Even a Short Film need a plot.
That was really great!!
this is crazy in a good way
He just stands still and we shoot it with 50 fps/s for making it in slowmotion.
Robin
your fire effects are way better than many others here on youtube. It may just be me, but I kinda use fire vfx to gauge the level and quality of a video, movie , tv show, whatever. Its why I like a lot of older movies, like 90s sci-fi channel movies, instead of the newer ones. back then they actually blew shit up, so it really looks like something blew up, cause it did. these days they just use cheap fire simulation that doesn't look remotely real
Great job on this!
Welldone! Thanks for posting your efforts would love to see more.
Awesome film dude, I would like to see this extended and with a plot but overall it was very good.
Good Action short film...
Awesome vfx!
Enjoyed that...A nice mix of live action and animation. The acting was fine, the only minus was bringing down the alien craft so quickly with one shot and the supered final explosion. Otherwise a great effort, well done
cool, good work!
2:20 noticed the black smoke.. but the effects are so awesome !!
Great Short!
The only part needing improvement was the ship explosion. Other than that, fantastic work! I loved it.
While there are a number of things wrong (or done badly) with the film, it does show some good technical foundation. I think given the obvious budget and time constraints of the project it is a fine example of how CG is becoming available to just about anyone with the will to take it on.
hint-
when we were kids a friend showed me how to take apart a plastic water gun .45, gut it and fill it with modelling clay to give it mass so it would look better when we played ww2. It made a big difference, it felt like a real gun.
I still do that to every gun I kit bash ...
Thanks Genaro!
***** That's a great tip, thanks! I'll definitely use it on the props I'm working on for some potential films. You can almost always tell when weights are off when you're watching something.
very well done guys!
Amazing gun! I would love to see a making of video.
Wow, so many armchair filmmakers making comments. This is incredible dude. Did you custom create the mocap on the enemy soldier exosuit guy?
hey! i have some helpful advice for your explosions if you set the exploson layer to screen the that makes them fit way better into the scene and in this case you could purt a cc curves on and reduce the red tones and desaturate it so it fits with the cinemat feels and looks like it belongs there, like the vid and can't wait for more!
Hey, nice short. I liked the copmositions and colour correcting/grading (something I'm still fiddling around with) and the subject. I'd like to offer a few critiques for future reference:
1-if you and the "bad guy" are that close together, one of you is going to hit a lot sooner; the hero can't shoot like a Stormtroopoer.
2-the "time-freeze" needs to be important. There should be something BIG or EXPLOSIVE or "OMG THAT'S GONNA HURT!" in the scene for your audience to take note of.
3-Take "negative responses" with a grain of salt. Not everyone out there will like your work. Accept that you can't please everyone, and for WHATEVER REASON someone didn't like it, there's indication of room for improvement.
^_^
-strange shooting technique
- strange color correction on the explosion
-great cgi anyway :D
To personally think it's pretty good.
this was awsome
great work
I give this a "B"..now I know why us humans forget about our ancestral history...we never really took the time to learn anything...just allot of ambition towards the future as we get weaker in talent...we have the best equipment but we lack the true knowledge and talent...anyone can tell you something is a great.
Epic!
awesome, for the cgi characters what 3d modelling program did you use and what did you use for motion tracking.
if you have fume fx I would recommend using that as opposed to live action footage to fit in with the cgi feel of everything. Also it looks cooler. The fire at the end seemed like you duplicated an layer and repeated it fading it in a several times. You probably had a short clip and wanted to extend it. Again think fume fx. If you don't have that i can't tell you much but try adding in alot of other stuff like fire color correction. It was cool that you shattered the plane empahsize that.
FUN FILM GOOD WORK
Cool!
Not bad! Favorite efx scene is the drone or spacecraft...explosion was a little weak, but overall this was a pretty cool little film.
You lost me at 2:11, I liked everything before that.
+John Raasch Well I loved everything before 0:00 and after 3:10 ............
Yeah that was pretty weak
Thanx! If you ever need one of my 3D models for a project, let me know. If they arent allready used somewhere Ill be happy to share them. :)
Thank you very much, this has always made me wonder how they do it, thanks :D
¡Great! Muy buen trabajo
just a simple observation, don't hide from bullets behind a glass wall!
I wouldn't take a Nerf gun into battle with crazy unspecified robots. But your movie and I liked it :D.
great!
MacMave i think your guys are great your doing what you love and express that! i am not a hater i like it and dont care what they say your good keep up!
Oh jesus christ now I'm going to have to post again.
Basic storytelling 101; You can't have the action build up to a moment of tension with a bigger, harder enemy only to have your protagonist jog confidently out in front of it (while the large, flying war machine does nothing), and one-shot it with a grenade launcher then start walking away nonchalantly as it crashes.
Cool! Ist wirklich toll geworden!
buen trabajo y la musica epica esta muy bien
So I'm one minute in and immediately I'm thinking:
Why can neither of the two actually hit each other at a range of fifteen feet?
Why does that glass appear to stop futuristic bullets?
Why isn't he wearing even the most basic armour?
Why does he shoot through that opening, killing his target, then jump through only to have the body somehow way behind his position?
There are things like bazookas, where there is no recoil because the reaction mass flies out the back. But a rifle, I don't think so. Of course I could be wrong.
The "After effects"-Skill is in the Kramer-family's blood, isn't it?
That big a gun, and absolutely no recoil? Pulled me right out of it. The effects were nice, though.
FREDDIE WONGS GOT SOME COMPETITION HERE
In my own futuristic parallel Psion a combat is placed at a hangar like this with hover cars above. Twoblue horse' s let down neednt be-nanocrystal glass will be laser/bullet proof. so tahst ok-but some cover for the antagonist couldve been more convincing-both are in wide open lessening protagonist's action easy kills. I get a feel of how settings can be-so great work thanks. .
Que pérdida de tiempo. Seguí participando nene...
This was nice, but could have used a bit more work. I mean... he's using a sniper rifle (or even just an assault rifle for the movie's sake) and he had to get about 10 feet from the dude before he could actually hit him? Would have been more believable with a pistol. Especially since he removes the front and shortens the gun only to take a wild aim at the ship without aiming at the end.
Tolle VFX! Aber die grüne Knarre ist so unpräzise dass ich mich frage was einem da ein zielrohr nützt und wie er das Schiff getroffen hat :D
How did you do the time freeze frame type effect?
yET ANOTHER aWESOME jOB !!
DEv
FINALLY, a video i actually want to see...(no offense but all there's been is reviews in some other language)
He is from the XCOM project
Thank You, man ;)
Greets,
Robin
Its just awesome!! I dont know why you have so many dislikes!
neat!
awesome
nice nerf longshot paintjob!
Thank you! Re-Painted it for our recent Star Wars Short "Rogue Zero"on our Channel ;-)
+Mac Mave Studios cool! ich bin übrigens deutsch :)
stellst du eigentlich nochmal was von mega bloks vor?
;-) Gegen Winter will ich mal wieder was von Mega Bloks machen... gerade die Call of Duty Sachen finde ich cool!
+Mac Mave Studios ja endlich! ! aber bitte auch halo
0:25 how could he fail like that ? The third shot is even behind the walls. is this weapon a shotgun, a rocket launcher or a rifle ? i cant figure it out.
nice effects btw.
Great job man. Do me a favor and make more.
That was great! Are the enemy soldiers CG or are they actors?
Nice effect, bad choreography.
bad aim dude, the effects are nice, but a bit unbelievabe, explosion radius of ship was bit small, and the shockwave would have knocked him on him ass, and blown out his ears, and all that dead grass would have caught fire dont you think, but great effects none the less,
That was cool but how did he take out the ship with one shot? It was a good movie anyway though
lol better than most syfy movies
On closer inspection maybe you did use fume fx after all for the actual explosion, it is definately to light and washed out and i know you were trying to match the scene but it just looks fake. Anyway, great film sorry I used 3 comments, I had alot to say and thought this was awesome so i wanted you to make even more awesome stuff in the future
This movie is good, but where is the core, the main idea? Dramatically, there are mistakes! What was the goal of this man? That is more important than when you break a ship with a bullet
OMG! it's the american dream! =P
very nice
How did you move the camera around the guy while he was like, paused?
very nice video
Cant hit a robot standing 20 feet away, but can hit a flying ship in one shot... Good cinematography though.
The effects were neat actining and props were sub b movie quality
What program are you using for the 3D objects?
Reloading like a Boss ( i mean Battlefield 2)
It's not fair. Why couldn't the aliens have had some glass to shelter behind too?
did you have a budget for this? if so, what was it :)
Wasn't really that horrible, I actually kinda liked it a little.
I liked it a lot. The poser/c4d was very good. there are challenges with final explosion and acting but all is forgiven. get more views by adding a tutorial poser/c4d workflow. cheers!
