....one that has evaded me untill now....but sure well worth the viewing time....smart camera skills / crisp focus added pleasure to the viewing...Thanks for posting...
When and how did they stop showing French wrestling on French TV? I know it got moved from A2 to FR3 in 1985 and they were still showing it until at least the end of '87. How did it endand who was the Greg Dyke/ Jamie Kellner of French TV wrestling?
Classic WoS professional wrestling match with nice give-and-take moves and holds throughout. Good use of the single-arm stretch with wrist lever by Jones starting at 14:20. Marc Mercier had style in the ring and it's a shame we didn't see him wrestle more often in the UK.
There are a few old bouts of his from French TV up on UA-cam. His Dad, Guy Mercier was a big star in France in the 60s/70s. Marc now runs Roger Delaporte's old FFCP and is the French equivalent of John Freemantle of Premier Promotions. Unfortunately he and his company have a bad blood feud going with the other main old school French promotion, Jacky Richard & Flesh Gordon's "Wrestling Stars" and both sides are fixated on destroying each other rather than competing with Americanised promotions like the ICWA or indeed the WWE.
I never understand why a wrestler being pinned in the manner of Marty’s equaliser would bring their legs back over, thus facilitating the pin. If they simply kept their legs down, they wouldn’t be pinned!
Their shoulders are touching the mat and if they don't move then the shoulders will be counted down. They can't move the arms very easily because both are wristlocked. So they try to roll their way upright. They would be better off trying to roll sideways and get one shoulder up. Some opponents can keep their legs out of the way of getting grabbed.
@@nealspilsbury8639 Jones and Finlay had to team up one night in '92 in Croydon and they got along unexpectedly well and went off together afterwards and from then on Jones was an arrogant cheating baddy, he beat Dave Taylor for the BRitish Heavyweight title in 96 and he and Mr Vain Pete Collins (Danny's brother) won the British tag title that year. Then he retired and vacated both those belts but still claimed the World MidH title when he came back a couple of years later and lost it to Legend Of Doom (Johnny South) in Bristol in April '99. He finally became a goody again in May 2000 because he was upset about Kendo Nagasaki winning Wrestler of the Millenium and he thought it should have been himself.
Marc is the promoter of the FFCP now. His rivals at Wrestling Stars (Jacky Richard, Flesh Gordon) WISH he was dead on the road, but no such luck. (Both sides HATE each others' guts.)

As a french wrestling fan, I am happy to see Marc Mercier in his prime. Do you know when this match did happen?

Jones started wrestling when he was six? He is a bloody good wrestler.
as an amateur freestylist. He became a pro in the early 70s.

Marty Jones came to Meixco in1975 and make great campaign. He loss his hair against to Perro Aguayo
Marc Mercier sa gimmick, c'est la denrée ?
Marc Mercier n'a pas du gimmick. Il n'est pas du Wrestling Stars, il est du FFCP.
And the Oscar for the best actor goes to .........
... goes to you for being the last person left on the planet who still gives a toss about wrestling being a work.
R.I.P Marc! :(
(He is dead today on the road)
Il est pas mort
Fake
He is alive
Marc is the promoter of the FFCP now. His rivals at Wrestling Stars (Jacky Richard, Flesh Gordon) WISH he was dead on the road, but no such luck. (Both sides HATE each others' guts.)
