    In our last episode,
we left Mighty Mouse at The Old Beaver River Station.
    As you remember folks,
he was locked in a desperate struggle with the villain,
    but on with the story.
    They're off!

The early MM episodes were just Mighty appearing at climax to save the day.
But having an archvillain Oil Can Harry, damsel Pearl Pureheart and hilarious opera singing dialogue really spiced up MIghty Mouse career.

I seem to recall they used to play Mighty Mouse on daytime TV, as part of Mighty Mouse and Friends every weekday afternoons syndicated on Washington, D.C. affiliate WDCA, then right after they would play Gummi Bears and then Ducktales on The Disney Afternoon, when I was Hyattsville, Maryland at that time in the early 90's (1990-1991).

The very first of the Mighty Mouse "musical mellerdramas" (patterned after the ones the studio produced over a decade earlier, with a human version of "Oil Can Harry"), originally released in November 1947. Directed by Connie Rasinski, story by John Foster, music by Philip A. Scheib. Roy Halee is "Our Hero's" singing voice; Ken Schoen is "Oil Can Harry". The success of this led to similar ones over the next six years.......

24LionHearts> In Norse mythology Fenris (or Fenrir) was the most fearsome monster (giant wolf) on earth. He was one real bad-ass. It was foretold that he would slay the top Norse god Odin in the Final Battle. No chains, no fetters, no band could hold this most fearsome monster. He had allowed them to bind him with the strongest chains and fetters in the world. He tore them all off. Wanted to prove his street cred he said. They tricked him into letting them bind him with a narrow simple silk ribbon band. It worked, he couldn't break it. It was magic. He would be bound up until the the great battle between good and evil. Maybe Oil Can Harry had a little magic in his rope :>)

This is a great cartoon. I wish they'd bring Mighty Mouse, Heckle & Jeckle and all his other Terrytoons pals back to television. And that goes for the Filmation and Ralph Bakshi Mighty Mouses too. The last time I saw Mighty Mouse and other Terrytoons characters on tv was in 1991--24 years ago on WOR TV Channel 9 Secaucus N.J. I've always liked Mighty Mouse. He's not exactly one of my favorite cartoon characters. But he's so much better than THE SIMPSONS, AMERICAN DAD, and FAMILY GUY. There are so many crappy cartoons on tv today. Mighty Mouse, however, is a real hero in a manner of speaking and a great role model for kids. While it's true that Mighty Mouse and other Terrytoons were basically designed for children and FAMILY GUY, THE SIMPSONS etc. were defintely designed for adults, I'd much rather watch MM over those cartoons any day. One "Here I Come to Save the Day" is worth 100 "Don't Have a Cow Mans."

That didn't happen in the classic cartoons, that was something that happened in Ralph Bakshi's "Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures", which came out in 1987. A weakened Mighty Mouse crushed a special flower and sniffed the powder to revive himself. Some people complained that it was "depicting cocaine use" or some other BS.
