At the Trucks Gone Wild Event at Cowboys in Florida they hooked up a Volvo Heavy Equipment truck to 3 Mega trucks and the Volvo pulled them no problem. I'm not sure what this thing weighs but I know it has to be crazy heavy.
I just like the fact somebody brought a big volvo dump truck to a mega truck event

That is actually a baby dump truck... its the A25.. its the smallest model. The A60 just hit the market, its almost 3 times as large.

true...But, IDK...I got a faded red 1992 740 wagon... with 350k+ miles and still going. original engine. just keep up with the oil & other fluids. it goes. loves the highway. wont win any races, nor does it look cool. but I can work on it in my driveway. and carries everyone everywhere. been to Brooklyn,NY twice with the band and equipment. and all around boston monthly.

Almost every automatic is planetary driven because of planetary gears. This one is just built to haul a shit load of weight over just about any terrain.

I said and I quote 'automatics (meaning the transmission) are planetary driven'. And pick up trucks have automatics, so therefore they are planetary driven through the transmission.

I operate trucks like this quite often and volvo makes the best truck by far. Cat and john Deere have similar ratings but in the real world the volvo will blow by them. Can haul 50lbs up a 45% boulder filled slope. $350k will buy a mean machine

No contest. Any 50,000 lb , 6 wheel drive, diesel, mining grade construction dump truck will crush any mud truck any time. One or ten, wouldn't matter. 5 yrs driving rock trucks and i only got stuck 1 time.. on an 4 inch dip on a icy flat surface.. had to call a excavator from the other side of jobsite to get me out of it.. fucking unbelievable!!!

What's the difference between carrying loads and pulling stuff? It's the same.
Mike Theunissen pulling requires a lot less power. I can pull a trailer that weighs 10k lbs behind my jeep and my powerstroke no problem. But if I threw all that weight right over my rear axle in the jeep? It would blow my shocks, bend my springs, and strip every tooth in my transmission and rear end. Probably twist the driveline. Where my ford would just squat down a little. Air up the airbags and it'll drive like its stock.

I seem not to see anyone commenting on the tire differences. Mud tiers like once on the lifted truck will have no traction on the pavement vs the street tiers the dump truck has.

It wouldn't have mattered much against a machine like that but as far as pulling goes the pickups would have had a better shot at this if they had normal tires at factory ride height.
