I’m starting cosmetology school September 30th. I wanna do hair extensions cause that’s where the money is. Where would you recommend for training?

Hey! Best of luck with school! For continued education I would look into NBR, IBE or the Luna Method. I can really only speak on what I have been trained on. These are all sewn in hair extension methods. However there are SOOO many options. I would research what they offer, what's included, do they do continued education (and how much is that), and are you really certified once you complete? Most of these methods you will not be "officially" certified until you complete, submit and pass ALL your model work. Let me know if you have any other questions!

So did you just offer weft extensions? Or do you also include k-tips, I-tips, and tape-ins as well?

I personally just do hand-tied and or coveted wefts. I do not do k-tip or tape in's, However you can still apply these tip to building any extension clientele! If you have any other questions, let me know!

When you started transitioning the clients how dis you purchase hair extensions...did have the hair on hand or did you have them consult first and get the extension money up front and them order? And then schedule out the appointment?

Hey! I would do the clients consult either in person or over the phone. Once I knew what wefts I needed to achieve their look I would invoice the client a deposit/retainer to book their extension appointment. This retainer would go towards the cost of hair. If the client cancels within my cancellation policy they would loose out on their retainer. I know in the beginning it will seem like quite the investment. I recommend buying 2-3 packs of hair per client. You wont use all of it, so this will slowly start to build your stock. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I have personally seen the impact of consistent marketing for my target clients. The key is making it a part of each and every client service. You can never have enough photos and videos. Let me know what you think in the comments!
