This was one of the most popular songs when it came out and he was pretty much an unknown at the time. Most of us were shocked when they announced that he was giving up music and going into acting instead! He’s an amazing actor now but so many people thought he wouldn’t stand a chance because he was just a rapper.
Thought this was corny back in the day but now it brings such a feeling of nostalgia and longing for those days - never knew how how much we'd miss the 80s and 90s.
Even before acting he was a rapper with Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. They were actually pretty good, had several songs. Then he signs with designer Calvin Klein to sell tighty white underwear. His ads were huge in Times Square NY, not bad to look at as you were walking by. Then he went on to acting and has pretty much proven he can do what ever he sets his mind to!
Donnie said they were so poor if they went to McDonalds his Mom would rip in !/2 the burger an " you just prayed you got the side with the Pickle" and their Dad worked on I think the school truck but i do know he said whatever was left over he brought home for the kids to eat for dinner- Mark youngest of 9 kids. I use to love The Wahlberg show his Mom died a few months back. She was adorable.
Man that whole family is so talented!! Mom and dad have got to be so proud of their boys. Far as I know they've been pretty upstanding? Anyway, great reaction.
I think Donnie made it first & bigger in the music business, then Mark made it bigger in the acting world. They both probably could’ve made the jumps on their own, but they helped each other throughout the 80’s and 90’s.
Great reaction, love how you broke it down, and living this era, it was a great time socially, good music is forever, and this will always be a unifying, healthy energizing banger. 💞
Mark and his brothers are from Boston, and were feral like most 80’s kids, he hated what drugs were doing to Boston, this was all about telling everyone to get healthy, enjoy life, Feel the Vibrations..Piano player is a badass too!
OKI am old and I was around for the original and I must say it has age incredibly well even though marky mark is not very proud. Of it I don't know why not❤❤❤❤
I love that you went back to the, "Can you feel it baby? I can too." That's my favorite part. Its so cheese ball that its awesome. 😂 Most reactors dont pay much attention to it. I, of course had a crush on him back in those days.
Mark and his brother Donnie co-wrote this song to get Mark started into the music industry as well. Big brother Donnie had already some experience with music related stuff, and he wanted to try and learn every instrument possible, like f ex drumming. Many called Mark the white LL Cool J back then,as they both had pretty much the same swagger and how they brought it in theyr music videos. Funniest name in the Funky Bunch easily goes to Hector the Booty Inspector 🤣 They have a few other music videos available: Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch - You Gotta Believe (seriously needs some remastering or re-uploading as the resolution hasnt aged well on UA-cam), Marky Mark And The Funky Bunch - Gonna Have A Good Time. When Ellen asked if Mark would ever bring back Marky Mark,he surprisingly answered: YES!......under the right circumstances. Lets say there was ever a future charity event or similar,he would defintly bring Marky Mark back. Donnie and Mark were the original first 2 members of New Kids On The Block, but as Donnie said: Mark would rather go play basketball then to do the typical boyband stuff. So Donnie promised him that if he ever wanted to do something by himself,he would help him out. And sure enough,Donnie produced like 10 out of 11-12 songs on the album or similar. Multi talents the both of them!
Greg - I don’t comment on many UA-cam reaction channels, but I am so especially enjoying your channel and reactions - I wanted to say hi and comment. This song and video was my jam back in the day. It played nonstop in my favorite gay bars. In fact, back then I was a TV sitcom writer and producer and was working on the Patti LaBelle sitcom “Out All Night” and Marky Mark was a guest star one week - during the same time that he famously modeled Calvin Klein underwear in those iconic underwear photos and ads - and he actually autographed one of the large posters for me and it’s hanging in my office right now. Your reaction video brought back a lot of good memories for me and my husband. Finally, I first found your channel when you reacted to a Dimash performance (I have become a huge “Dear” which drives my husband crazy because he’ s definitely NOT) - and I hope you’ll continue reacting to Dimash’s videos (I appreciate that you have to blur or find ways to “disguise” many of them because of copyright issues - but even so, they’re worth doing). Sorry this comment ran on so long, but I wish you the best. Already subscribed, now “Notified,” too. (Have you created a Patreon channel yet?) Love.
I thought I'd drop-off another song by "Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band - You'll Acomp'ny Me [Lyrics}" he has so many great songs songs and you haven't even scratched the surface. Take care~
The vocal hook may seem familiar to you because it is an extrapolation of the vocalist, Loleatta Holloway's (RIP) hit "Love Sensation" from 1980. An R&B classic.
Meaning and messages that progressed to bragging about what you got, who sucks, and no one can figure out why us older generation tuned out and say there arent many real rappers around. A few but not many
brother is fucking cool! I remember how more than 20 years ago I danced to the mark! I think you will make a translation for Russian content, you will be pleasantly surprised how many people know Mark Waldberg
Obviously this was a low budget video but that doesn't mean it wasn't off the charts entertaining and as you say the dancing was amazing nobody. Does it really anymore❤
Hi Greg... Though I like Mark as an actor...I never followed his music...there were many who referred to Marky Mark so I knew who they were talking about...at the time I didn't even own a tv..not until 2010 did I own one and only online since 2017...yeah.. Too busy working and holding onto every cent I could...but radio was free however the stations I listened to didn't carry Marky Mark...I have since then seen this video...I think he was more eye candy than singer...nice eye candy... Be well Greg...🌿🌿🌿
Little tid bit of news on this song. At this time CnC Music Factory had their big hit. Had some skinny girl singing hook like this song on video. When it was a girl who looks like girl from this video. So Mark went against what industries were wanting to get the actual artist in video. Little news story that hasn’t tracked with song.
This was our shit in the 90s. Looking back now, a whole to of sex lol. Check out Knocking the Boots by H Town or anything from Jodeci, like Feek'n You, Keith Sweat, Joe and on and on. Id love to see you review Boyz To Men.
Gees Gregg gets on an doesnt even say Hi to the people who were waiting the count down to Noon only 3 here on comments an he could not take a few seconds to give the few a heart that was just weird
I'm NOT in agreement with the video, there are VERY VERY FEW videos I like. I am not in agreement with the messages of fleshly lusts, these are from the enemy. I am in agreement with the SPIRITUAL MESSAGE (there is always a Spiritual hidden meaning) that GOOD VIBRATIONS / HIGH VIBRATIONS OF LIGHT AND LOVE IS THE KEY !!!! CRUCIFY THE SHADOW MAN AND BECOME YOUR HIGHER LIGHT-BEARING SELF !!!!
There is a whole lot of talent in that video from Mark's rapping to the back-up singer, the keyboardist, and the dancers!
That woman's voice is 🔥!!!
IT'S CALLED 💥REAL MUSIC💥🥰💥

You so right, hip hop back then had understandable lyrics with often positive messaging, and importantly they were catchy and melodic.
Pop, not hip hop.
@@danielbalboni6804 Hip hop, obviously.

His Calvin Klein ads gave me life. Among other things.
@@Jme62 I believe I know just what you are referring to and I totally agree!!!
hes saying he's not singing this, he's bringing this... to the entire nation haha classic line
Man that whole family is so talented!! Mom and dad have got to be so proud of their boys. Far as I know they've been pretty upstanding? Anyway, great reaction.
Luckily he changed his youthful criminal behavior.
Well . . . Mark and his friends jumped an Asian man and almost beat him to death. He turned things around eventually.
The highlight of this song for me is the lady singing the hook/chorus. 😀
This song has been in my workouts for years! So happy to see a new generation is giving Marky Mark some appreciation for his work! Old is Gold!! 😎👍👍👍
Reminding me why I had that big crush on Mark all these yrs 😄
We didn't know Marky Mark could act either. It was a surprised when he started doing movies.
I think Donnie made it first & bigger in the music business, then Mark made it bigger in the acting world. They both probably could’ve made the jumps on their own, but they helped each other throughout the 80’s and 90’s.

90s Rap & R&B was the best. This sheeesh today I don't even listen to or even know except 69 for being a criminal
This is one of my fav Songs of all time. In 1991 I was 17 and now 49 and this song is still running 👌🏻🔥
I don't care what year you were born...this song was and is FIRE.
He was one of original New Kids on the block members with his older brother Donnie but he quit a few months into it.
I love your authenticity !!!! 🥰
Mark and his brothers are from Boston, and were feral like most 80’s kids, he hated what drugs were doing to Boston, this was all about telling everyone to get healthy, enjoy life, Feel the Vibrations..Piano player is a badass too!
Marky Mark!
Marky Mark and Funky Bunch! I haven't heard that since I was in elementary school..
This is one of my favorite songs of all time.
The guy has certainly done a lot with his life. Great for him.
OKI am old and I was around for the original and I must say it has age incredibly well even though marky mark is not very proud. Of it I don't know why not❤❤❤❤

Mark Wahlberg started his career as a huge gay icon back in the 90s. I saw him play this live at a gay club in Seattle.
I really miss old time hip hop!!!
I agree with you back then hip hop actually had a meaning and everybody danced it wasn’t anything like hip hop now. The music was awesome

I loved the hip hop music back then!
Brilliant actor!!!!
songs were longer back then less skits which take up most of the albums now love your reactions brother
Good eye candy!
Boston!!!
Hey out of all the Wahlberg’s Mark is my favorite
Old school cool!
Mark Wahlberg was supposed to be in New Kids On The Block with his brother Donnie but he chose to try acting. It worked out for him
His girl was fly!

Great Reaction. Try a longer Reaction with Queen, Live Aid, 1985. You will NOT be disappointed. 19 minutes
This brings me back to my high school days
Dude. I totally forgot bout this song. MARKY MARK AND THE FUNKY BUNCH.
The vocal hook may seem familiar to you because it is an extrapolation of the vocalist, Loleatta Holloway's (RIP) hit "Love Sensation" from 1980. An R&B classic.
Marky mark and the funky bunch...****WILD SIDE**** Is a great song too. Check it out
Meaning and messages that progressed to bragging about what you got, who sucks, and no one can figure out why us older generation tuned out and say there arent many real rappers around. A few but not many

Please react to his second top 10 hit "Wild side". Amazing song with a great message and music video of a true story
There were movies in the '80s and then the '90s I think it's all about dancing
His Brother was part of the New Kids on the block, Donnie Whalberg
You should do wild side by Marky Mark. Great remake.
Obviously this was a low budget video but that doesn't mean it wasn't off the charts entertaining and as you say the dancing was amazing nobody. Does it really anymore❤

A good video/song to check out with a good choreographed dance group is Daddy Yankee - Con Calma.
Mark is multi-talented (and a great underwear model) :-)
Back then they sang about life
He is very talented and that is a mix of a very old song , cant remember the group
Marky Mark and the funky bunch
His brother Donnie was apart of the group The New Kids on the Block lol
Hiphop was real because life was happaning outside
🔥

I think he was popular for that body more than music
John Cena learned everything from Mark Wahlberg 🤣
If u like videos With alot of touching, try "I touch my self" from Divinyls, not hip hop but very fun to watch and hear.
I think the group was called The Funky Bunch?
smillar to dr Alban its my life
Calvin Klein model before being a rapper.
React to his song Walk On The Wild Side please.
Yeah, a lot of touching going on, but nothing wrong with that, plus it was tastefully done, IMHO.
Have you seen a video by Dirty Vegas?
Mark Wahlberg is cousin of Halle Berry.
No guns or cursing
Gees Gregg gets on an doesnt even say Hi to the people who were waiting the count down to Noon only 3 here on comments an he could not take a few seconds to give the few a heart that was just weird
You don’t see dancing period anymore
