@@orbitalpotato9940 The sub's not using active sonar; you are. That's why shit's tense; you've got to find that sub, but to do that involves basically shouting "HERE I AM" as loud as you can, hoping (and fearing) that the sub will be close enough that you'll get an echo.

Makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up with every ping and a word DOOM just pops in your head as you nervously wait for the next ping to be closer than the previous one. Just a little bit closer but that's all it takes to make you afraid.
Meanwhile the sub's just... *out there*, somewhere, dead silent, just listening to your pings. Imagine being locked inside a coal mine. Your job is to find a guy who's wearing all-black clothes and facepaint, and your only method of finding him is to run around shining your flashlight all over the place trying to spot the whites of his eyes in the distance.
That's the whole point lol, they even reference the Soviet Anthem scene, as a pilot remarks "Why don't they just sing the national anthem and tell us where they are?"
