Welcome to the new world above 10000 feet.
Atal Tunnel is a highway tunnel built under the Rohtang pass in the Eastern pir panjal range of Himalayas on the leh Manali highway in Himachal Pradesh India at a length of 9.02 km. It is the longest tunnel above 10000 feet in the world and is named after former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee .
This tunnel was inaugurated by our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Nath Modi on 3rd October 2020.
The Tunnel is at an elevation of 3100 that is 10171 feet whereas a Rohtang pass is at an elevation of 3978 metres which is 13051 feet.
The cost of the entire project is 3200 crore.
Atal Tunnel is around 25 kilometres from Manali and the highway is full of mesmerizing beauty with hills river and Riverside drive.
On the other side lahaul and Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh starts that is also another beauty of Himachal that one can witness and that becomes lifetime memory.
Both sides are are at freezing temperature but Manali side is warmer than the Lahaul side.
At Lahaul side one can see snow and glaciers throughout the year and all the hills at the level drive is available throughout.
