Another impressive test, thank you again. I watched with my 2k 15 inch monitor full frame and focused as close as I could, about 10 inches from screen and could see no noise even at iso 6400, but of course could see it in the 500% blow up...and I don't intend on ever punching in 500% at any iso with any camera:)
A lot of his noise at lower ISO was a result of using medium-slow glass... Stats on lens after MFT crop is: 24-70mm f5.6! (Not a night shooting lens).. Had he been using glass that could 'already' see the details in the darkness, his noise profile would have been more refined and limited to the areas of of complete underexposure.
@@timothykroh3074 For depth of field. If you want the whole landscape in focus, you don't use 2.8 (which in MFT amounts to 3.5 or 4) you want a smaller f stop.
That ISO 1600 shot looks just so damn cool Blade Runner'ish, great work! I think ISO 3200 and even 6400 is still usable without any compromise if you go for 8bit and use some noise reduction. (seams that it's harder to reduce noise in 10bit, not really sure why) Thanks for the upload
Jetara im using the latest neat video noise reduction, and based on what i tested so far, the footage is clean and you still get a natural grain at 3200 at 10bit
ty for the heads up....have to try again, just had samples from a friend of mine, still waiting for mine to arrive. On some shots with 6400 ISO neat nr seamed to work better with shots taken in 8 bit. But no real head to head comparision so could be just a lighting issue.
Hello!!! There's a lot of ways to adjust the setting. If you have Panasonic GH Series of cameras, just simple click the "Q" button and you will see all the setting or just simple watch this tutorial and i hope it will help you .Cheers, happy shooting. Pretty usable ISO performance my problem with the Panasonic is that they tend to expose the image a little darker in comparison to the Sony cameras so not only they are worse than the Sonys at the same given ISO but the sonys look brighter wich lets you use a lower ISO... any way I love the results from the GH5 I definetly want one now...
It's true I noticed that in alot of comparisions, especailly at low ISO. But I think ISO 3200 noise can be reduced in post to a level it's pretty damn good. Still think that GH5 is the camera to go for Video in 2017.
I want to buy a Panasonic GH5 today. Looking at the quality, it looks amazing. Do you think it's worth it or should I buy another model or another brand? I'm just an amateur photographer/videographer. I like to add B ROLLS to my drone videos.
ORISHA PHOTOS yes you are right, but having a proper test and the scene is Landscape, i dont get a point using 1.4 or 1.2 in landscape. Hope you understand the scenario here. That why we are testing the sensor capability not the lens. Thank you for watching the video hope you like the test. Cheers
Did you not mean the Panasonic Lumix G X Vario 12-35mm F2.8 II ASPH Power-OIS? The mark 2 will provide Dual-2, the mark 1 only Dual-IS. The Lumix G X series are video lenses. The GX12-35 is faster at 35mm than the Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 12-60mm F2.8-4.0 Asph Power OIS.
I keep seeing all these video of the GH5 and its low light capabilities. However I got mine in two days ago and I can't get usable footage from it. Even outside in broad daylight at 200 iso its got tons of noise! Is there something wrong with my GH5???? I've tried just about every variation from picture styles to video formats and nothing works :/
Hi Matt Lynn , its a grain not a noise. its a natural grain from a 35mm film look. Basically noise looks like magenta and bluish color from dark side. the dots you seeing in GH series is much probably grain at 200 ISO at morning,
If you will watch a movie in the cinema, you can find that even cameras which costs few tens of thousands dollars can be grainy too. It's normal, i can't understand why so many people worry about that.
I think so! Also if I'm not mistaken, using noise reduction on a 4K video that is so sharp as the image of the GH5 doesn't harm the overall image so much it becomes unusable. It's okay to sacrifice a little bit for these situation I think. Also this was a f/2.8 lens, imagine using a f/1.8 or f/1.4 with a metabones adapter. The low light performance actually is great, taking these things into account. Also; for more casual shooting I thought up to 3200 w/o editing was acceptable.
hello please check some comments below for more info why i shoot it f4 and not 2.8. But generally its because im shooting landscape and its inappropriate to use 2.8 for landscape and its not about depth it's about low sensitivity Thank you for watching, I hope it helps

EMIC Works You would get a better video at 2.8 or even 1.7 lense, no point trying to shoot with MFT at night with anything above F2.8, but its up to you if you enjoy the grains.
Amazing quality to be honest, this low light test was really good :)
Thank you
AWESOME!
Well done! Thanks for uploading this.

Great Test... From This Footage, I Personally wouldn't go above 1600 ISO... I can see noise at 3200 on my small 13" mac book pro monitor...
3200 no problem. Neat video and everything looks smooth like butter. :)

do you have a download settings for low light?
Why didnt you just stay on f2.8? Would the noise be more noticeable?

Thanks for this

Why did you shoot at f4 when you could open upto f2.8 in low light? Was there a specific reason?
its a noise test..... you need to pull up exposure...... close aperture
And maybe because he wants to have a less depth of field, because its a wide angle shot.
What lens?
hi click on what i sent you there and it shows clearly how the lights are streaking so bad on the night shots thanks
You could keep your iso at a clean 100-400 using a lens with a nice aperture of at least T1.4....You would'nt even have to touch the ISO

You do know that digital cameras do not have grain! And it can't be natural 35mm look if its not a 35mm film.

Why are you shooting at f4?
Hello Chris, i answered this a lot of time on the trends, but in summary its landscape shots and no one will shoot f 2.8 at wide scenarios. Cheers
8 or 10 bit?
VideoMAX hi, i shoot it on 10bit
Thanks

Why that picture profile?
709 is standard for majority of monitors out there.
Looks like shit after iso 1600. Thumbs up for telling the truth ...this is a daytime camera speedbooshers be DAMN
Actually looks just fine... It hardly looks "like shit" and it only looks bad in 500% magnification, which is for measurbators and pixel peepers...
