    Hi again! Just finished refilling my first Canon cart, and figured out two things...apparently Canon decided to make refillers life more difficult, and did something to make it almost impossible to remove that little ball...I tried with the little screw PC provides, then with a bigger screw, then I drilled a hole with a 1/16" drill and tried with a even bigger screw, then I finally gave up and drilled my way in with the 5/32" drill...all went fine in the the end and the plug fits ok, but boy...maybe are just the cartridges sold here in Brazil...anyway...
    Second, it's a REALLY good idea to reset the cartridge before refilling! 😀

      Persistence always pays! Though I have never had a problem levering off the ball. It doesn't even fit that tight in the original hole. The true sealing accurs with the plastic label that covers the top of the cart.

      I'll try again when the next cart empties...you know what they say about first times...
      Great job with the channel BTW...

      How do you deal with the plastic shavings from the drilling of the hole (base of the ball)? How do you get them out?

      I left them in there and didn't have any issues from that... my issue is that the hole must be perfect and the plug must make a perfect seal or else you will end up w/ ink everywhere. Bought a new OEM set to start over and used the screw to remove the ball and it is working great now.

    Where can I see a video on how to remove and replace the chip on a CLI 42 cart ?

      You should find one in the precisioncolors webs site.

    Jose, I've had zero luck with buying a small digital scale...I have bought some really bad and inaccurate pocket sized models...usually around 10 bucks...If I could ask, what is the make of the one you use in this video..? I trust your judgement on things...including this...

      I got mine from precisioncolors and the new larger 500 gram one from Amazon. It is listed on my Amazon Afilliate link. Check the links on all my descriptions

      Ordered what? From Amazon? If so thanks a million. I appreciate it!

      Thanks for the recommendation on the Saturday Live show two weeks ago...
      The AWS 600 is REALLY accurate, as you said...I bought some weights to check, but it was as exact as you can get right out of the box...didn't need the weights at all...

      I was also shocked at how linearly accurate this super cheap gram scale is.

    Thanks for this video! I had a somewhat unrelated question. I remember that you've said that PC inks for Canon PRO100 will last about 6 months before they will go bad. Is it applicable even if the ink bottles haven't been opened? I've got my inks sitting on the shelf for 5 months now and wonder if I need to order new set of inks at this point or if this 6 months period starts from the date you open the bottle?

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  7 років тому

      No. They will not "Go Bad" but the biocide that controls external contaminants begins to lose it's efficacy at that time but only after it is opened. So do not worry about any bottles that are still sealed.
      It does not mean that the inks will become contaminated either. That all depends on how "Clean" your refilling process is. So do not worry!!!

    Jose...is there any problem in securing the plug on a cli-42 cartridge even further with a piece of tape..? Or is there a venting problem with that suspicious looking little indentation in the plastic top just in front of the plug hole toward the front...
    I hope your Mom is improving...we're all with you during your tough time...Many of us have been through this, too...

    • @cheo1949

      You could ad a bit of tape but it's not needed if your plug fits well. The squiggly indentation under the top label is the Serpentine Vent. Remember the tape tab you removed when you first installed the carts? Keep that clear.
      Thank you.

    OK, Jose....so the time has come for me and of course the first cart to go low was the yellow! So I replaced it with one from my OEM second set and altered the old cart and I flushed it twice with windex (waited an hour with each flush...and then I flushed with water for many times (I used a whole owl of water) IT looked white as the replacement one they sent me from precision Inks ! I let it dry to 14 g. I filled it and the ink was sucked up into the sponge quickly. However, it has been a day now and I have hundreds of yellow specks throughout the entire sponge. Is this bad?? Is it air?? is it leftover yellow ink from the OEM?? Please advise if I can use this in the printer or do I need to reflush again!! Thanks in advance!!

      I would have to see a picture of it to be able to trtrell you. By the way 13.6 grams is bone dry.

      Hi Jose - did you ever get the picture from Sharon? Would love to see an example of what she was talking about - not sure if you can post a picture in the comments of it or not, thanks!

    hey , master
    I am a bit confused....
    I am using Canon pixma pro 100 printer. So I have got yellow CLI 42 y and yellow CLI 8y cartridges. I have changed chips. Well, now as i understand i will use visual identical cartridge CLI 8y with CLI42 y chip?
    should i clean, flush it? or just refill with Octoinkjet ink and restart chip and insert into printer?
    thank you

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  7 років тому

      Supposedly OCTOINKJET Yellow PRO-100 will not react with OEM Yellow! I would contact Martin from Octoinkjet and ask him to be 100% as you may be able to simply modify your original yellow and fill it directly without chip change.

    If I have a brand new set of Original Canon Cartridges do I have to flush them once their low in order to then refill them with Precision Colors? Or can I start refilling them without cleaning the Canon ink out (Aside from the yellow which I understand does not mix well with Precision Colors)?

    • @cheo1949
      @cheo1949  8 років тому

      Modify them, reset them, fill them with PC inks except for yellow. No problem with mixing pc inks other than with yellow.
