I don’t know why ppl continue to have band battles in gyms. The sound bounces off all of the walls, distorting the sound. It all sounds loud and not great.
Luvhim381 idk but I guess its the promoter’s decision. It may be cheaper to have them inside a gym as opposed to a outside venue. Weather is also a factor... as a bandhead, I would love nothing more than to have every band event outside but when u think about it from a business perspective, there are so many more variables u have to take into account (price, weather, projected audience, security, etc...)

Actually both bands did well. Being a former band player, it’s always difficult performing in gyms. Everything is just loud. And just FYI, “Louder does not mean Better”.
The audio sounds muffled. However, Im not sure if Im feeling SU this season. Something is not right. I think they need to size down cause they are sounding a bit sloppy.

Remember the louder bands sound in a gym, the more distorted the sound will be bouncing off the walls. So you're really not getting the true sound. Check out Southern three games they played this year TCU Louisiana Tech Langston how they sound outdoors in the stands "Crisp". Because they had all that open space.
To me indoors are for classical, jazz, symphony type bands.
I rather an outdoor botb.

Both bands did well. No band can out-Southern Southern. The set up was bad. Glad I bought the cheapest seats because seats were open everywhere.

I saw a different clip and this audio is definitely bad. Both bands sound much better on that video. Im not feeling that first song by SU though. AAMU had a bad song selection.

Heard all kinda feeds from this botb and although SU won, their arrangements, sound, and tempo was very bad......hopefully this is the beginning of the year trying to get it together phrase.........no hate and don’t say the gym......something is not right over there....

Su should go back to the white tubas and leave that metal bullshit alone. Their sound is not built for that country shit. Also, it seem like they’ve lost their “edge”. B tones/t bones bringing that pressure but mellos/trumpets can’t seem to match their intensity. It’s still early in the year so I’m sure they’ll get better with time.
Southern doesn't sound like the normal SU...to many cracked notes and over blowing....but they're ok!!!!
