I've been waiting for this ever since I beat this myself, Dion is such a legend, and Ascension is easily a top 10 song in the franchise. Loved your reaction!
Can’t think of any boss fights in the franchise with a better music to it than this when considering all the phases together and thus adding Away and To Sail Forbidden Seas the way they also hit.
I haven’t played 14 (although 16 has made me want to), so was thinking more in terms of other non MMO mainline FFs. One area where I notice most that 16 has taken things to the next level (and I’ve heard this from people I know who played the game with no prior FF experience, but who are comparing FF16 to other games), is just how well it blends cinematic quality, music and gameplay together to produce an epic experience.
@@fredrikaarrestad1571 I agree. Creative Business III has always done this. Yoshida is one of my favorite directors. You should give XIV a shot! It's playable solo. The start of it is rough ngl, but once you hit the expansions it's incredible. It passed Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger, and Nier Automata as my favorite game of all time
Will have to see. Very happy with the direction they’ve taken the franchise with 16, so would expect them to build on this whilst improving the weaknesses that it had. Not sure I’ve got the time to invest for 14 tho.
Loved how they took the fight out of this world, literally... loved it! Although definetly want too see why Dion went that mad... i'm following the story through ya, so thanks a lot!
Playing this, I knew this is the fight and the experience that the younger me who came to love Final Fantasy in the late 90s wished and dreamed that the games would be like.
Pretty sure Clive as this point was more interested in hearing her speak her own mind to settle many of the questions he must have surely had for the 13 years spent since her betrayal wondering how she could have done that, and the next 5 experiencing her cruelty towards bearers. He just wants to know the unfiltered truth of how and what she is. In the end, I think they handled this really well, where she is completely rejected and ignored by her own children in her most desperate time of need.
This battle is what Final Fantasy is all about. Im glad I'm able to experience this level of artistic vision and technical brilliance. Also ZETTAFLARE I was fist pumping in my living room.
Stronger, actually. Unlike Donald Duck, Bahamut doesn't immediately die from using Zettaflare. And this Zettaflare would have incinerated the planet had it gone through.

Just Beat Titan on Final Fantasy Mode, I can't wait for this Fight in Hard Mode, There so many moves you just don't have until you complete the game. This was Epic also! 🔥❤🔥🔥

@@lagunaesuna6812 I'm sure there are a lot more snippets from classical music that I don't recognise - I have read that Soken-san investigated a lot of European classical music when writing the score, but my classical music-fu isn't up to naming his influences, even though a lot sounds familiar. I would love to know his sources!
@@maggiebrinkley4760 Unfortunately i cant find the whole ost on yt jet, cause its still taken down for copyright, i think. And i havent been fully sold on soken yet, but the piece from 20 min ff. clearly goes classical beyond the dots of baroque riffs in japanese game and anime music. There are probably few particular quotations. It just stylistically kinda shifts from Vivaldi to Rameau to Beethoven to a waltz to Bach back to generic anime hero music. Lets hear how it holds up without the dazzling visuals...
The game will start to lose me, and then sequences like this happen and I’m drawn right back in. Wish the side questing was a little bit more meaningful and engaging, but overall such a solid final fantasy experience.
When Anabella recites off that speech about keeping bloodlines unbroken it sounds like she's just repeating something drilled into her from birth, she's a horrible person all by herself (although ultima has probs been working on her for years) but it just shows how damaging the values of the current system are and what they tell people to believe. The only thing I didn't like about this scene is how short it is before and after the battle. It just needed a few extra lines of dialogue to call her out on what others are saying in the comments about the irony of her decisions, she could've had THREE eikon children AND A DOG if shed just been loyal to her familial blood, not 'pure' blood. And how sick it was to say shed suffered. Also I wanted Jill to SLAP her across the chops after that 'savage' comment and say something like "I am Jill Warrick Daughter of the Silvermane and BORN Princess of the North! dominant of Shiva, that's MY blood". That death of "go away ghost" the suicide was also too good for her I've preferred it if they left her crying in the crumbling palace or cast her out with nothing in some poor Cid aligned village to live out her days as a servant to see how far she would get on her "pure blood".
This was my favorite spectacle battle in the game (Odin was better from a pure-gameplay perspective, but visually disappointing after this). I've always been a sucker for Bahamut. The FF7 Bahamut ZERO references in this battle was great! I know they said platinum games and KH team helped them with something, and I'm betting this battle is the work of the KH team. My only gripe is that I didn't like the controls for the Pheonix section of the battle, either. Idk why they didn't make right stick aim.
I struggled with the long distance projectile aiming somewhat too it felt like Then i saw somebody else streaming who locked on with r3 i guess, and it made it look a breeze And i felt like a tit
what i really like is the moves that the eikons beat you up with are the ones you get when you win. so say hello to what im gonna go ahead and assume is your new favorite move.....the gigaflare lol
I really really enjoy the playthroughs but this game just seemed so easy? Not much of a challenge at all it seemed. This FF could’ve def been a little more difficult as it would’ve been a little more fun to see you get through it
Hey Dan strange question. I'm playing Final fantasy 10 on ps4... uh can't explain it but I gotten the achievement Overcoming the nemesis. but I haven't even unlocked Nemesis yet 😂
@@srhg6300 I will watch because I enjoy Berk's playthroughs and commentary, I watch all of his content even when I see issues with the games or not interested in the all that much. He is one of the very few gamers on UA-cam who doesn't act like a fool to get eyes to watch 😸

Really liked Anabella as a character. Obviously a heavy Cersei Lannister influence but really well done.

This game knows how to do epic boss (Eikon) battles. You feel like you've been fighting for real the way your adrenaline rushes!

If you would have stopped the video in the middle of the fight, this basically would have been a Dragon Ball Z battle.
