Hi Valerie, your nice comments to Floor Jansen as always. She is vocally so versatile and very professional, different role in After Forever comparing to Nightwish, and I would recommend watching her appearances in Revamp, Star One, Ayreon and Northward as well. Beste Zangers 2019, her solo covers of pop songs with metal flavor, singing soprano opera and musicals, she can do anything.

Hey Valerie, thank you for doing my request , im glad you enjoyed it. 😉
When you see these older vids of her, you can understand why tuomas wanted her to sing for Nightwish.

Here she is as a 31 year old with Nightwish. ua-cam.com/video/47e_961OQWE/v-deo.html Shes now 40 and this is from one her Solo shows ua-cam.com/video/SM5DIFprqg4/v-deo.html

After (Forever) my first reaction i gave, UA-cam suggested this song again, now performed by Floor and the Red Limo Quartet. A high class classic (and more) music ensemble. Arrangement Joost van de Broek( the keyboardplayer). Only the classic snare instruments and Floors voice. No hiding, no effects. I cried real tears - realy. Out of this world beautiful. And since your channel is ment for music teaching .... this is a masterclass Floor Jansen. Note - i like how Floor always gives credits to her co- performers by subtile but very effective gestures and it is a demonstration very tastfull Floor acrobatics. I am in awe! The whole world should see it. (why being modest?)

As far as I understand it this show is actually in the US. There were plenty of fans but the music moguls (or fat cats as I call them!) didn't promote it or give it any air space so the general public never got a chance to hear Floor and After Forever. It was basically word of mouth that spread info about AF and many great bands, including Nightwish, which is a disgrace in my opinion.
I'm hoping that good people like you can help to bypass these moguls and get the word out loud and clear that there is another world of great music out there if they only knew !!
Anyway, I live in hope and thank you for helping to get the word out😀😄☺
    Cheers
    Ronnie
    Peace

This is from ProgPower USA, a small festival down in Atlanta, GA created by Glenn Harveston that has been held every year since 2001. I was fortunate enough to attend ProgPower IV in 2003 and saw Nightwish, Rage, Symphony X, Evergrey, Circle II Circle, Vanden Plas, Secret Sphere, Mercenary, Pagan's Mind, and Redemption over 2 nights. I know in later years the show normally sells out within minutes, so it can be hard to get a ticket. Sadly last year and now this year's festivals have been canceled due to COVID. The next one is June 1-4, 2022. These bands are still confirmed for next year, Conception, Turilli/Lione Rhapsody, Jeff Scott Soto, Green Carnation, Witherfall, Thank You Scientist, and Aether Realm but tickets may still be hard to get as this year's tickets carryover. progpowerusa.com/

Despite the fact you had no idea what was being experimented between music styles in Europe at that time, both After Forever and Nightwish went already frequently on world tour incl. the US between 2005 and 2007, but they often performed in smaller concert halls. And Tuomas was aware of Floor’s capabilities cause both bands did some concerts together. If Floor had auditioned in 2005 and wasn't fully into After Forever, he might have asked Floor to succeed Tarja already in 2005 and not seven years later in 2012.

    • @billattercliffe8655
      @billattercliffe8655 3 роки тому +3

If I'm not mistaken, Tuomas and Marko discussed inviting Floor after Tarja left, but they didn't want to break up After Forever by stealing their lead singer.

Let us talk about perspective after so many years. Loved your reaction by the way Valerie! You said and see early Floor Jansen, it was in fact late After Forever from their last album (lol). Needless to say - they had a future.
It didn't happen. They disbanded in 2009. But what a song and what a Floor Jansen with the complete packedge. No wonder Tuomas wanted her in Nightwish. Floor herself talks about educating and performing 'modern' music technices and that it is relatively young in comparing with the classical education and technics. She is a master in her craft and didn't she say in here recent interview that by teaching herself, she learned a lot for herself. Yesterday i saw a reaction to this song and for me it was quite dissepointing. It didn't do justice to this çlassic' song and the performence. It was to much about the reactor. This is a masterpiece and you did it justice and i thank you for that. I think Floor would liked it. It seems she is very busy now preparing for six solo shows early september. And they are still not cancelled. At the sixt show there will be professionel recording later for us all to see. It will be the complete packedge. After Forever, Revamp, Nightwish, Northward, Beste Zanger, covers from the lockdown. The money for the recordings was raised by crowdfunding in no time. What a fantastic and didicated fanbase they (Floor and Nightwish) have.
Thank you again for this whorty reaction. Excuse my English.

It isnt necessarily a matter of European vs American. Metal isnt mainstream in Europe either, you wont hear it in mainstream radio regardless of where you live, with some well known exceptions like Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Metalica.
Metal encompasses a very broad range of subgenres, no single band can give a picture of metal as a whole. If you take an american metal band like Dream Theater, it has little in common with metalica. So it isnt a matter of american vs european aesthetic.
The metal community survives due to its global nature. After Forever was barely known in the netherlands, but they found an audience in south america and in some nordic countries. Angra is a brazilian band, but they found success in Japan before developing an audience in their home country. Such cases are common in metal.

    • @juyifan7933

@@geanelopes1110 I'm well aware that América is a continent, but american reffers to something from the USA(or maybe including Canada in some contexts), thats simply how everybody uses the term. And I'm from Brazil, by the way.
People use the term south american and north american to distinguish between parts of america. But whenever someone says American without qualification it nearly always means from the USA.

Interesting you mention the educational system. In my experience very few schools have music as a subject. When I was in highschool it was in the schedule (mandatory for all students), but there was no teacher, so it was not taught and nobody seemed to care. That was before Floor was even born and my impression is that it has become worse since. That is why I am still wondering about the large group of skilled singers that the Netherlands has produced over the last few decades. I can only assume that it was and is even worse abroad.
The school I am teaching now happens to teach Music (and drama and audio/video and painting/sculpting) as exam subjects, but that is very uncommon.

Hi Valerie! I was wondering if you would please react to Morissette singing Love You Still on the Wish Bus. It's the lead single on her new EP that just came out and her first foray into songwriting! She wrote LYS about her strained relationship with her father. As someone who had a similar relationship with my own father, it hits home. Thanks for your consideration and hope you are doing well!
