The rod i caught the big ray on is a 14ft AFAW 6 and bait mark 2. Its the red and black one in this video i tried getting a big conger on. Should be able to pick one up at a reasonable price secondhand 👍

I'm gonna be taking mackerel and/or bluey, squid for the 1 rod targeting rays and then I'm gonna try for flounders with the other rod with some old frozen black lug
If you can get a shimano or a penn then id recommend that. Looking at new reels, the penn rival is a solid reel at a good price. Either a 7000 for a light continental rod or an 8000 for a traditional beachcaster. Failing that a second hand shimano ultegra. I have 26 reels, 16 are penn🤦♂️
