- Can cops check your entire vehicle check as a part of a traffic stop? Unless your state has a specific law permitting it, absolutely NOT!

Cop's official interaction with the public needs to be at an extreme minimum.
If he's not a auto technician... he's not inspecting my car...
They don't have law degrees but that doesn't stop them either
It's what you call a Phishing Scam!
How have we come to such blatant unconstitutional tactics?
BECAUSE THE COURTS LET THEM DO IT!!!😮😢
The Reich wingers.
If you register your Automobile through any state, it then belongs to that state.
When the Automobile is registered, the state retaines the Original Manufacturer Certificate ( OMC ). You are given a Registered Keepers Title ( RKT ). Whoever has the OMC is the owner and the state can do what they want with their property... UCC Article 9-102 part 23...
Then what about us not submitting to an illegal search and seizure of our person or property under our constitutional rights?
@@jackgandy4334 I'm not a legal expert but that has every indication of a VERY specific and special case and not a case for the common person.
It's a fishing expedition.
I keep a tiny fishing pole for this reason.
Pigs lie for everything
Nope I don't need to assist them in their investigation
Unless you're a truck driver
We used to get pulled over for our license plate lights weren’t working. But damn near every time we ask to go look, they are operating just fine.
When a cop told me about my tag lights I would try to get out and check them. Then he would tell me to stay in the car until he left.
I think they spend 7 of their 8 hrs shift hiding then come out in the last hour and write bullshit tickets to make their quota before heading home. Have had as many false tickets as genuine
Funny how that's ignored when the snow covers not only the light, but the entire plate.
Evil. Pure evil...
My brother got a ticket for a missing lug nut on his GTO after a cop stopped him on a "fishing expedition" in California.
What year was it?
WAS he missing a lug nut?
Pisses me off when they write you for such as that then you get home, look, and think, "that lying sumbitch"
🔵 We have a right to not self incriminate. Participating in a vehicle test can self incriminate.
if you drive for a company that falls under DOT they can do that no matter what your driving
...they do this to trucks...both commercial and non-commercial all the time.
I believe it is different, Mothertrucker on UA-cam has videos addressing this.
Yet when actual crimes are being committed, when the targets look like they are costra nostra or bratva, etc these cops are nowhere to be found.....
What states have this law and how do we find out if our local has that unconstitutional law?
I want to know, too.
That's is bullying here and it still happens 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Without a asme cert I will not allow a semi-litarite liar to "inspect" anything outside their own pockets.
DCS does something similar
It creat conflict when some states do and some don't when it's all one country
How will this affect drivers in TX now that the safety inspection is no longer required? I assumed it meant that an officer could do a “safety” check and that it was being set up as a grey area for a pre-textual stop. I’d rather pay the $7 for a safety inspection once a year than risk being pulled over because an officer wants to check my tread depth.
Guess cops are getting fedup with not finding anything in peoples pockets.
I'm so glad you didn't tell us whether any states actually have such laws, LOL.
'Aquired immunity', that's why.
Joe Magnets
Here's an example of how those laws are written, and the legislative history proor to it being passed. This is a Kentucky Revised Statute
281.755 Inspection of motor vehicles.(1) The Department of Kentucky State Police or any other peace officer designated by the department may at any time or place make an inspection of any motor vehicle operating under the provisions of this chapter. They may enter into and upon any such motor vehicle for the purpose of ascertaining whether or not any provision of this chapter or any order or rule or regulation of the department relating to such motor vehicles has been violated. Willful refusal to stop any such motor vehicle, when ordered to do so by any representative of the Department of Kentucky State Police, or to permit the representative to enter into or upon the motor vehicle for the purpose of inspection, shall be sufficient ground for the revocation or suspension of the certificate or permit of the motor carrier.(2) In the event that a peace officer orders a commercial motor vehicle to be taken to a storage or impoundment facility as a result of a violation which requires the vehicle to be moved, the driver of the commercial motor vehicle shall be granted the ability to drive the commercial motor vehicle to the storage or impoundment facility. If the driver elects to drive to the storage or impoundment facility, a peace officer shall escort the vehicle to the facility. This subsection shall not apply if the commercial motor vehicle is required to be impounded as a result of a violation of KRS 281A.210, an out-of-service order as defined in KRS 281A.010(26), or a serious traffic violation as defined in KRS 281A.010(29).Effective: July 15, 2010History: Amended 2010 Ky. Acts ch. 93, sec. 3, provides: "Section 2 of this Act (this statute) shall apply retroactively, but shall not be construed to permit the prosecution of a person whose vehicle was inspected by a peace officer who did not, prior to the effective date of this Act (July 15, 2010), have the authority to perform inspections under KRS Chapter 281."
We can see for ourselves and you can now know it so that if you see that light out tomorrow night then you can give me a ticket. Right now, depending on state laws, I don't know.
Making a law that violates civil right does not make it legal! It is called usurpation. Taking power that does not belong to you!
No, I'm not assisting your investigation to incriminate me.
They do it to ALL commercial vechiles. I drive CDL vechile
What states allow such regulatory searches? Please provide a follow-up video. Thanks.
You can let police officer continue on with his little investigation all by himself, you do not have to assist a police officer in his fishing investigation physically or verbally
Fifth Amendment.
And yet cops use the noise on exhaust.
Guess it depends. PA state police can do road safety checks, they are trained to do them. Though mainly they hassle the tractor trailers.
If your driving down the road and you have a light out or forgot to turn on your lights, yes it is typically grounds for the police to pull you over and conduct an equipment check
This typically only applies when and only when operating on a public roadway, most if not all states have some form of law surround the lights on your vehicle since there considered a form of a saftey device
But what do I know only been working on tractors for over 15 years
Even if you are in a state allowing such safety checks, you do not have to assist them in this check, and they are not allowed to operate your vehicle, so.... catch 22.
In the state of Oklahoma,
They have gotten rid of state inspection. So ???
Violating the 5th amendment, self incrimination
What about the right not to participate in your prosecution?
They do that to every big rig on the road. It’s called a road side inspection. You are pulled over for that exact reason.
Cops shouldn't be able to pull you over unless they see you doing something wrong...and I'm not talking about you tint or muffler or shit like that
Texas just started a new law that you don’t have to have your car inspected to register your vehicle. Some of the bigger cities may still have a smog test . It seems to me that it’s going to be open season for the police to pull anyone over for all the small stuff light taillights and go from there. Most drivers are lazy as it is in the upkeep of their vehicles . The only thing that was keeping them honest about the upkeep was the inspection of their vehicles. I know in the dfw they make money on just about anything to do with impounding and arresting anyone vehicle related issues. We just haven’t come into this situation of police doing an inspection of vehicles because of a tail light or something to that effect. I’m sure this to shall end up being the new normal.
This is legal on commercial vehicles if done by DOT OFFICERS.
Even if you're state has a law like the attorney just described, its a violation of your 4th and 5th ammendment rights and we can just ignore it with impunity.
Even if I am state had a law?
Unless his officer which I doubt very much or any of them is a qualified vehicle inspector with a license and had to pass the test for it if they don’t,have one of those cards, they have no right asking you to do anything to make sure everything works. That’s not their job. You see a burnout ball give them a fix ticket and send them on their way because lightbulbs burn out at any moment.
Take a hike powder puff😅.
In the state of Ohio they can immediately impound your vehicle if you're vehicles bumper is too high and tires stick out too far
Not legal in Texas. There has to be some indication while you’re driving, that there is a problem.
Don't give the politicians any ideas
Are you obligated to aid them in their investigation?
TRUE STORY: A man I know was constantly being harrassed by Police about where he parked his car.
One day, he had had enough. He started to inspect the police car and noticed that both tail lights were damaged. Because he was a mechanic, he assertively demanded the keys from the officers as he deemed the car unfit for road use. They complied..😂
I hate when lawyers get on tick tock try to say s*** they don't even know
Nope! 5th amendment period! I have the right not to incriminate myself nor do I have any obligation to help an oaficer do their job especially if it’s going to involve me getting a ticket, fine or arrested! You are not obligated to help public servants do their job!
Wouldn’t this only be applicable in States with Required Safety Inspections??? Any other State with out them it would just be a probable cause and a way to check you/vehicle out so they could possibly find something.
I hope Texas does not have this long. Lol
So, which States?
What about Canada🇨🇦?
Diddo
@@tubro541 canada does as it pleases. Y'all have no rights...nor do we when up there.
Yes truck drivers it's perfectly legal for dot to do it 😅
I have a question.
I watched a video earlier this week that showed a cop entering a unlocked parked vehicle with no owner present. Cop seemed to indicate he had the right to go into someone’s car that was unlocked for some reason without a warrant. Can a cop go into an unlocked car without probably cause that it’s stolen or other things without a warrant.
The video did not seem to elaborate on the legality of the action.
Could you apply this same scenario to a DOT (department of transportation) inspection/ inspector to a commercial motor vehicle (tractor trailer) inside a weight station? Thank you!!!
I wonder if during the early Constitional years of our country the government would have soldiers pull over hourse carriages for safety checks
police state USA
Oh….I don’t know….maybe….YOU MIGHT CONSIDER TELLING YOUR SUBS AND VISITORS WHICH STATES HAVE SUCH EQUIPMENT-CHECK LAWS?
Fishing
A traffic violation (ticket) is not an arrestable offense! Come on now. So what you're saying is if you have one headlight out they have cause to arrest you?! 🧐
No. They will try to make cause to arrest, taze, beat up, steal drugs from you. The traffic stop is just a prerequisite.
can you demand they show the statute before they conduct this just to make sure its an actual law in your state
Sure. He can call the office and have it looked up
Answer this question: What do you do when police are on your property or foot in the door or they walk into your home without a warrant and refuse to leave? IS THERE SOMETHING WE CAN DO?
So what states?
Why not go after cops who do this?
This base could just do things right but most of this base is clueless at best
“An illegal search.” Not “A illegal search.” You’re an educated man. Do better.
You really think the cops give a shit about whether something is legal or not honestly honestly
What about Oklahoma for this one?
But all of you car people don't mind if truckers are inspected on-demand. Trust me. Your rust bucket needs inspection too. Federal Motor Carrier laws provide for safety equipment and documentation compliance stops in a effort to keep the public safe. How about that car?
they do what they WANT - and you Damn Lawyers know that ---- and don't do anything about it --- I wish you people would SHUT the Hell up - with your BS
Any nice netizens in the comments wanna post which states do or don't have regulatory power for equipment checks?
Ohio cops can demand equipment checks
I think they should be able to check your headlights and brake lights at night... Those are very, very critical for safety.
They can do that, at night, BEFORE pulling you over. A headlamp out is pretty obvious.
Not certified mechanic no equipment check
Wouldn’t this only be applicable in States with Required Safety Inspections??? Any other State with out them it would just be a probable cause and a way to check you/vehicle out so they could possibly find something.
