So much for not having any cable content.
This was an incredibly lucky find, actually. This wasn't even a blank tape. I had a good eye for detail that day and ended up spotting a Stuart Little VHS tape...that just so happened to have a piece of electrical tape stuck over the record protection tab. That was a common trick done to record over commercial releases and/or tapes that already had that tab pried off. I popped the tape in, expecting more boring soap operas and trashy reality shows...only to be taken completely by surprise to find THIS on it. You guys seriously have no clue how rare kid content is, and that goes for anything, cable or not. So yeah, once I checked the tape in the store, you better believe the first instinct I had was buying it. I also said absolutely nothing about the recording tab...just in case they'd happen to mess it up again. Heh.
This is from 2008. Not the best time period, as CN was just falling into their rut around this time. This was where their focus slowly moved away from cartoons and they went through that awkward era where they wanted desperately to appeal to the older male demographic. That's where we ended up with the mess known as CN Real and getting no new animated shows in 2009. On top of that, the commercials also suffer this year because this was just in the wake of the 2008 economic recession. As such, there's a pretty major increase in informercials (ewww). But still, cartoon anything is rare to run across, so it's honestly nothing short of awesome to find this. And it's pretty lengthy too!

No way. But for reals 2008-2009 was everything to me in cartoon network. The people who say they don't like this year should compare it to the awful shows they play now on cartoon network.
Oh BOY you are not going to get away easily by saying 2009 was a good year for CN
Many despise that year because...well, that was when they seriously began to try desperately appealing to older audiences and aired precisely *zero new cartoons* that year. Instead, they aired seven new (and from what I'm told, completely forgettable) live action shows and did CN Real. For reasons nobody will ever be able to comprehend, the execs thought CN Real was going to be a revitalization of the network, and to literally nobody's surprise but them, it tanked horribly.
I mean, I know people's opinions tend to vary, but the only good new shows that CN aired from that era were probably Chowder and Flapjack. And I wouldn't totally write off CN now...I hate Teen Titans Go, that's something I won't defend, but it's a bit difficult to say you can't find anything worthwhile among Adventure Time, Steven Universe, Regular Show, and The Amazing World of Gumball (opinions vary on those shows, some are love it or hate it, but I still find people like at least one of those, and it's hard to honestly say any of those fall anywhere close to "awful'). I wish they'd quit being the 24/7 TTG network though.
Honestly when I'm like really bored I just see teen titans go you know its okay there are some parts that really don't make sense but there can be a funny joke here and there. My childhood was Basically Chowder, Flapjack, courage the cowardly dog, johnny test, The classic tom and Jerry in the afternoon at 1pm, Adventure time. The shows that were horrible was destroy build destroy and generator Rex. I've read a comment on UA-cam saying that they ended chowder for destroy build destroy. The logo was even better in 2008 than now.

I mainly grew up with CN in the 2000s. That was the time I got attached to it. My favorites were My Gym Partner's a Monkey, Foster's Home, KND, and not to mention--Shaolin Showdown. And no, I don't care if people say this was CN's dark ages, they were still awesome. I also LOVED Flapjack. I loved treating things as timeless productions.

VaultHS I only remember the Froot Loops ones. They were like a wafer on the outside and frosting on the inside. They got soggy easily though

Right? It still doesn't register with me that 2007 was ten years ago. I didn't honestly think I'd say the day when uploading commercials this recent would be nostalgic to certain people.
I've certainly learned to quit treating past years as better, for sure. That's why I still record from modern TV; you never know when something will be treasured ten years from now. Who would have ever guessed that CN's dark ages would end up being a nostalgia point for people?

I have never have been hit so hard with nostalgia. This commercials were my childhood. I remember staying up past my bed time just to watch new episodes of my favorite shows on my old VCR TV. Brings back the memories. Thank you so much!
McManpants Lol, I also used to record on a VCR TV, I have a tape that i last used in 2009 with some CN stuff. I used to not record commercials though. I did record adult swim bumps during the anime shows sometimes.
Ironic that Snow Day aired on Cartoon Network since that movie was made by Nickelodeon Movies.
I think snow day aired on Toon Disney before it was rebranded to Disney XD. Around 06 or 07 was when Toon Disney started airing non-Disney live action movies

Hey in early 2008 I also received cable and was hooked on to cartoon network as a young kindergartner heading into 1st grade I miss being a young boy in 2008 and for me that year while the recession was still heating up it was a year of prosperity for my minority parents oh how I miss 2008 if only there was a way of accessing memories and watching them again on a VR headset...

As a CN kid, 2008 is the saddest year for me since that was the year when my all-time favourite Cartoon Network show, Codename KND, ended and it was time to say goodbye to Sector V.

Haha, don't thank me, thank the previous owner of this tape. I only found it at a thrift store by sheer stroke of chance, and it was almost a miracle I even noticed it -- it was a commercial tape that was recorded over and the store didn't realize that.

As a 8 year old back in 2008-2009, these were my cherished childhood. Chowder and Flapjack had that unique late 2000s-esque feel that almost felt timeless. Also loved the Blendy Pens commercials and the CN Flicks premiere. Looking at this in a recorded VHS format makes me feel old. I never noticed that the shows were in analog back then as a kid. I really do wish to re-experience my childhood one more time to take a break from adulthood.

Anyone else remmeber back in 2008 when your brother would let you play on his sidekick phone after soccer practice while you listened to music on an ipod mini. Your babysiter had razor cut bangs and sometimes your school friends would invite you to their birthday parties at chuck-e-cheese on the weekends.

Though me being a bit more of a late 90s/early 2000s nostalgia geek has a lot to do with that, heh. But I see value in things from all sorts of time periods, and I always find interest in what will be looked back upon fondly.

Heh, yeah, I feel like they did a lot of infomercials for toys like that, spending almost a minute trying to make it look like the coolest thing in the world, but really when you actually stopped to think about it, it really wasn't anything special. I remember that same announcer was on a lot of other toy infomercials around this time (I recall Bendaroos, Floam, and Fun Slides as well), and he annoyed the living daylights out of me every time he came on, haha.
And it also amazes me, since I generally didn't know any better, I thought there was always this many infomercials. It only just now clicked that the recession was responsible for bringing us this many!
