One of the best tools for getting dust off the soundboard (under the strings) is one you can make yourself. Go to your local paint supply store and pick up a a wooden paint stirring stick. Then go to a hobby supply store and find some self-stick sheets of felt -- the kind with adhesive on one side. Then go home and cover one side of the paint stir stick with the felt and use it to dust the sound board under the strings. It slides perfectly under the strings.
Wow.. I found your blog and that page directed me here. I am amazed to see/hear those skills. I have been on same thought if one cane tune strings to Indian Classical Raag and chord them accordingly. I was thinking of converting a Swarmandal into auto harp.. Would like to meet you someday 💐🙏💖💫✨🎶
Great playing, I also really like the color arrangement, your skin color, the instrument and the color of the clothing go well together. I know it sounds strange but that’s what drew me to the vid first.
Thank you! I love your playing style with the Autoharp. Amazing Grace and Fields of Gold are outstanding to me... :) Thank you for sharing a new contestant for which is my new Favorite now. :) Janet
Excellent. I just taught my 6 year old daughter what an autoharp is by looking at some of your videos. You are so talented. I've never heard an autoharp picked that way before. Only strummed.
Nice! Very good to have another wonderful scintillating video from Jo Ann. That 'harp sounds as beautiful as it did at MLAG. Nice to have it in your hands and hear it again. David W
In general how do you clean your autoharps? I have the toughest time keeping the dust off of them. I have tried compressed air and that doesn't work very well either. The only time I get a good cleaning is in between a re-string and we all know that doesn't happen every day! Any tips would be great!
Hi, Andrea. Glad you like the music! Yes, I have a couple of albums for sale through CD Baby. If you go to my website at autoharpist.com and scroll down you'll find sound clips from both albums and a button link that will take you to CD Baby.
Friar Rodney Burnap Yes, left-handed autoharps are made. They aren’t available through manufacturers like Oscar Schmidt, but most autoharp luthiers will build left-handed versions of their instruments.
Very nice playing ! IMO the video has been cropped so tightly and vertically that it looks as if your left hand (playing the chords) isn't attached to your body? That is kinda strange to look at... ;-)
This autoharp was made by Greg Schreiber ( schreiberautoharps.com ) . You’re correct, it has 15 chord bars. I have this autoharp tuned diatonically - meaning that the strings are tuned to only contain 7 notes. In this case, the notes found in the key of D. This allows me to double up on some of the strings, making it louder and with less “dead wire” from muted strings. When you limit the number of available notes, you also limit the number of chords you can make from those notes; usually 3 majors, 3 minors and one dominant seventh. But it also opens up room for color chords like minor sevenths, major sevenths, suspended fourths, etc. that you simply don’t have room for on a standard, chromatic autoharp

Absolutely beautiful JoAnn!!
Wow...!
Brava! Encore, Encore!
stunning x
A soft-bristle paintbrush is also great for brushing away dust around the tuning pins.
I love it.
Simply Gorgeous! Thank you!!!
Wonderful!
Thank you so much! I was trying to get too complicated! This is an excellent idea. My harps will look as good as new!
man you were "smoking" on that harp ! I wish my harp had keys like that on it, those round ones sure can be tricky
I use Dunlop nickel 0.025 fingerpicks on three fingers and a Kelly Speed pick (white - heavy gauge) on my thumb.
Fantastic!
❤
Awesome!
Awesome, Jo Ann.
Nice! Glad to see a new video up! :)
What picks are your favorites? I tried to see your thumb pick, but couldn't. You're my Favorite Autoharpist of all! Beautiful video!!! :D

@@autoharpist thank you!!!
I love it. Can i ask a question? What type of Autoharp is this? Diatonic or chromatic?
This autoharp was made by Greg Schreiber schreiberautoharps.com . It is tuned diatonic in the key of D.
Are left handed autoharps made...?
